I have the CZ-5000 and I love the 8 stage amp envelope and also using it for phat and evil sounding bass sounds, but man do I wish it had velocity like the CZ-101 would have made them a real MIDI powerhouse. Especially if there was a velocity on/off or parameter adjust like on an Ensoniq of the era. Still there is a brightness to the sound that, like this example here - very lush! - through the right reverb and effects is quite nice. You’ve done the machine quite well, thank you!
Again a veeery nice tune, bravo !!👏👏 I sold many of these affordable Casio CZ in the 80's. I felt it had a big potential - while I was missing time to dig deeper during this period... I worked some months ago with the Arturia VST CZ V and I made some pieces mainly dedicated to this serie. The Arturia CZ V comtains many additionnal features that enrich this synth - giving it eventually better converters... I have also been able to retreive in SysEx the few sounds that I have designed at that time for my demos. 😊 Thank you for your piece that celebrates so well the qualities of this serie.
I am 22 and have a cz-101 that came with the box and manuals. It even had the original seal stickers. The other one is a cz-5000 that I have. Bought from eBay last year for a good deal and came with its original case. It was shipped from Tokyo lol, so even better. This synths are amazing! Thank you for sharing as well! Glad you lived through that decade.
Wow. This is the best demo of a synth the world has ever seen. love the music, close-ups Just wonderful. Never knew these were so awesome. Thank you for sharing. I want one.
Dear God...I searched for a nice demo to show possibilities of CZ. Now, listening to this amazing track I don't wont to sell it anymore. Fantastic track my friend. Fantastic.
These are just astonishing in the creative hand. Mine has been for sale ten times, until I turn it on (to see if everything still works) then it becomes my primary synth for the next year. Casio did digital correct.
This is awesome! I like it very much! Great job! I almost forget what beautiful machine I have in my closet! The CZ-5000. Greatings from Poland - Piotr.
Great, awesome, excellent! The CZ line/series are very underrated synths. I have a CZ-1 & also an HT-6000 ("SD Synthesis" line was also underrated) The CZ (& HT) are really great synths, capable of some really unique sounds. In the right hands, (as your video proves) they're capable of amazing things.
This thing is amazing!!! I had a CZ1000 back in the day but it was stolen unfortunately. I have several industry giant synths in my collection but I would love to have one of these
You wrote a perfect description of the CZ series sound. Maybe a little equalization or using an harmonic enhancer would greatly help. And with a proper analog filter this synth would have made best synths shoeshine's rags!!
Everyone needs to send this to Casio to remind them why the CZ line needs a remake. But honestly, Behringer has teased one, so we might be taken care of
RicardoDiLago the cz lineup is amazing and very unique. The 3000, 5000, and 1 are the more professional models. the 101 and 1000 are cheaper and less powerful, but they still have the same synth engine and can sound very similar to this. imo this sounds good but it's bit basic, external effects will help a ton you idiot
This is very cool.....it's just pure awesomeness. (don't know what else to say) PS: I like this entire piece, very much,....but I especially love the intro. (that monophonic lead sound is really cool)
Amazing piece of music! I've got a Casio CZ3000 & was thinking of trying to sell it, but it's kinda growing on me now. I think this video may have swayed me a little! But also, I gather these CZ Synths are now hard to find for sale & mine is worth more than I paid for it! 😃 I kinda feel lucky to have it.
Overshadowed by the DX21/27/100 and lower-end Junos of the time but very capable of great sounds if you got your head around the PCM programming and complex envelopes. And at about a quarter of the price! Crisp punchy basslines and echoing lead lines in particular. Great box of tricks.
Excellent demo, enjoy your playing. The Casio name seems to stink, regarding cheap goods, and by synth snobs, into the other famous brands, well that's why they all sound the same and have empty pockets. This is an incredible synth. Very underrated and overlooked. I hope to add one to my collection for ambient sounds. Very cheap on the secondhand market at the moment for those who can afford one.Need to fill my piggy bank before I buy anymore. But a serious classic synth for me. I want one. Thank you for sharing.
Agree 100% This synth is an absolute beauty and has a truly one of a kind sound. It's a shame people limit their palette on synths so much when there are so many that sound entirely unique to one another.
250$ - 300$?! im gonna buy one of these for sure. I think to find them is the bigger problem especially here in switzerland. I like your patch sounds they sound very big. Greetings
These are great boards and i wish i had bought one at the time but just couldn't get the programming. At the time i used DX21 and later a DX7. Great track. Cant remember if they had a built in arpeggio unit? Did once play on the CZ 5000 and had a mess with the sequencer! What a monster!
??? Over the years I've had two CZ3000's, a 5000 and a CZ1; and I used to play my bandmate's CZ1000. This sounds very CZ to me. With tasteful effects, arrangement, & musicianship too, I might add.
I really like your song. I would like to hear it with headphones while i ride my bike at nite... and run into the woods i guess. Could I? you know... download it?
I find myself using the SDE-2000 a lot. It's an early digital mono delay with simple modulation function, but sounds to me a bit more organic than many of those clinical plug-in delays.
I need to stop watching your videos, because it's the second out of two that make me want to buy the instrument. not healthy for my wallet! another excellent job here!
hey, I have one of these... I got it for chirstmas when I was 17 in 1986! Still have it and still use it in a band I play in... you have the sound setting for some of these sounds? they're fantastic
The CZ 1, 2000S, 3000 and 5000 have a relatively decent chorus effect that really sweeten the sound and make it sound much more Fairlight ish. Without it, it sounds like ol' gritty CZ101/1000/230S.
I seem to remember the figure 13kg - must have read this on the web somewhere. Only the top panel is plastic, the main chassis is formed from steel sheet (at least it is on mine).
I bought it. He also had a Yamaha AW 1600 recorder for $100 with all kinds of goodies! I got the Casio and the Yamaha for $130. It's in great shape and came with a Casio hard shell case and a stand.
I'm a guitarist, but I played keys in a beach band a while ago and use a Yamaha p-90 piano and a Casio XW-p1. I haven't set them all up yet to see what kind of racket that I can make.
@@Wardell43 I ended up selling mine to make space for a DX7. As much as I adore the DX, I still miss the Casio. I'd swap it into my band's rig any day.
There's a lot of Casio CZ patches in the web. I used many of these sounds I downloaded, maybe tweaked them also a bit, but for my taste the programming of a CZ is too slow..
Very nice sounds and a very well arranged musical example. Compliment. Compared to the synthesizers of the 80s / 90s from e.g. Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Kawai, Ensoniq etc. were not always taken very seriously. In my opinion, very little has changed so far. Too bad. Because in terms of sound, Casio synthesizers offer a lot. I had two Casio CZ 1000 synthesizers for a few years from 1984 and worked a lot with them (Germany).
Who knew Casio could make such a machine. They are very underrated as a synth company and certainly need to return to their roots.
This was my first synth, PAD! ;)
@@filtomsun I ended up getting one some time ago. Don't have it now though.. their huge!
@@PureAmbientDrone I gave mine away but I'm very tempted to get a replacement. And you're right, huge and heavy. Built like a tank.

This is probably the best demo that I ever heard. Such a pleasure to listen to. Beautiful sounds, so tastefully arranged... great!!! Thank you!
This too awesome. My 80s heart is bleeding nostalgia and sorrow.
Don't be a wuss.
What a fantastic track, I keep coming back to it occasionally for a new listen. Always inspiring.

nice time lapse to make it look like it has a sequencer or something! : ) I love this machine!

love your music style and sounds, great compositions- not overloaded with sounds but all carefully put together. I wish i would have such skills
"sound quality is obviously somewhat lo-fi"
That's half the point of these old digitals. Great sounds!
Yes, the grittyness of the waveforms gives a nice character to the sound, but high noise floor and hiss is uncool.
Phantastic song and great old synthie! :D

Brilliant indeed!

actualy very nice sounding synth. never considered a casio, because of its toyish image to be honest. But this sounds truly serious. well done!
The CZ stuff is the best Casio ever made. It can make sounds that nothing else can make.
