It's really a crying shame that Kalé's quest line got cut. I'm glad for the code miners who found his voice lines so we can appreciate Nabil Elouahabi's heartbreaking performance.
Hopefully the new DLC would brings along a patch to restore that questline, it could serves as an alternative route to this ending instead of Hyetta, which tbh made a lot more sense and give us an actual motive to end the world.
If he’s still using the same guy as some of his older prepare to cries from Ds3, I believe it’s this guy called TheParryGod that does all the footage now. **Note** this is incorrect, it’s a creator called Misspap1 that does the footage.
The kale lines are from a cut side mission where you helped him find his people and where they used to live. Which would lead both of you to find where they were all locked up under the sewers where they're despair would summon the frenzy flame. Edit: The melina line at the end is ffrom the game and appears after the frenzy flame end, the ring is most likely torrent's ring as the frenzy lord most likely doesnt need him anymore. Also I'm pretty sure the ring gets destroyed cause if you keep your eyes on it during the cutscene it literally disappears.
I like the theory that Torrent's ring was made out of unaloyed gold, since the Shadow of the Erdtree teaser hints at *Miquella* being his former master. If that ends up being the case, then it might not be that our character discarded the ring by choice, but rather, was physically unable to use it anymore as unnaloyed gold wards off the influence of outer gods, and in that ending we literally become the vassal for one.
@@genexican9214 Yea tbh I wouldnt be surprised if thats true tbh tho it's odd that torrent's ring would of been burnt up if its made of unalloyed gold since it would be able to ward off the influence of the frenzy flame tho it could be that theres a threshold for how much the unalloyed gold can take and be overpowered. Before the DLC I believed Marika was the original owner of torrent because in the area you fight Maliketh theres a statue of a young girl with three wolves (And ranni gives you the spirit ashes of 3 wolves that used to belong to the owner of torrent) and behind the girl a symbol of the crucible is there. It would make sense Maliketh would choose a spot like that to defend destined death and Marika's race is Numen which according to the game is a long lived race so her being old enough to be around that time seems plausible. Tho I find it odd that Farum Azula would have a statue of a young Marika? Let alone the Crucible since the dragons ruled before the erdtree so why would they make anything for Marika or the Crucible so perhaps its someone else, it cant be any of the demigods cause i dont think any of them were born during that time. Personally I think Marika(or whoever the statue of the little girl is) originally owned both Torrent and the wolves but gave them to Miquella as a gift cause Miquella was good at making people like him so i dont see why this wouldnt also apply to his parents or parent I guess and the ring is made of gold.
I always read it as him desperately trying to summon himself, as it's the same whistle as when you call him. Maybe like he's trying to get back to Melina before he's burned away
Torrent is a spirit, so I think the ring being destroyed only stops Torrent from being summoned. Obviously not ALL spirits are gone since Melina is still alive.
This video is Vaati's magnum opus. The Frenzied Flame story is definitely the most tragic, dark, and terrifying plotline Miyazaki has ever put into one of his games, and Vaati went above and beyond to do it justice.
its because the Frienzied Flame is supposed to be the "Bad" ending, and this questline would actually make it totally justified to do after seeing all that happened to Kale's kin.
@@Nek-oski It's not nor never was the bad ending. Frenzy Flame is the only ending that actually addresses the core problem of the Lands Between: suffering and how to end it.
@@BlankEmporium"It's not nor ever was a bad ending." Meanwhile, in the Frienzied Flame: *Torrent screaming in agony as he is being burned alive in his whistle*
Honestly, the completely different tones from Shabriri and Kale when they each say “Let chaos take the world” are incredible, and completely convey each one’s motivation for claiming chaos. Shabriri is manic nihilism, and Kale is a nihilistic depression.
The most telling piece of lore about the Frenzied Flame is hidden in one of the spell descriptions. It's why the flames erupt from the eyes of people. The Frenzied Flames...are tears. It's people who have been so hurt, so broken by the cruelty in their life, so full of dispair...that all they can do is cry, and pray the world ends their suffering.
@dadab22 A beautiful description of the eyes. Thinking about it more, you realize how such despair affects the world around them as well, the animals, the trolls, even the very plants... They have been consumed by the very essence of true despair itself and simply wish for the world and the very pain they experience to be burned away, leaving nothing but ashes.
That bit with Melina is very real, you might've burned her before inheriting the flame, in which case I'm pretty sure that part doesn't play. Also, the ring in her hand is Torrent's ring. You can watch it crumble away in her hand before she closes it. Great reaction, I think this is Vaati's best work!
Can confirm. I burned Melina, then explored the Shunning Grounds. This was a blind first playthrough so I didn't realize that the giant molten door was going to lock me into the worst ending. Melina's revenge cutscene did not play
@@SympatheticStrawmanVA I think it doesn't lock you in to that ending, but there's no way you could know that in a blind playthrough either. I believe you can cleanse yourself of the flame using the needle you get at the end of Millicent's questline?
VaatiVidya is a true legend, i keep watching his videos over and over again. He really is a master of the souls games lore and you can really feel that he is puting his heart into his work. what a legend
Hyeta was most likely just Shabriri playing a role, trying to lure you into the grip of the Three Fingers. It's been shown that he takes over dead bodies and he's all about chaos, so he probably created the role of Hyeta so he'd get his chaos burns the world ending.
@@McSireson when the tarnished inherited frenzied flame the 3 fingers modified you body to withstand any and all flames so when you burn yourself it doesn't harm you
Heyy! Little fun fact that confirms that Hyetta is actually inhabiting Irina's body: If you don't start the Castle mourne Questline, Hyetta will not show up when you get to Liurnia.
Irina's dead body is still in her original location, though, even after meeting Hyetta. I've checked through several playthroughs and the body is always there. I think Hyetta looking like Irina is just a case of many characters (such as the generic finger maidens) sharing the same model.
@@marksamson4173 Alright, fair point. But then why design that condition in the first place? If the two are not even linked, why does one only appear if you start the other‘s questline?
When Shabriri says “May chaos take the world”! Outstanding acting. Next video should be Age of the Duskborn or The Warrior within. These videos by Vaati are incredible.
@@colonelkenpachi5009 I like that one but I have a thing for bleak, tragic stories and horror as well lol. Also I really like Malenia and I hope that she comes back in Miquella’s DLC in some form 😅
"Then that's what they shall get from us!" Is the line for me. He is always so composed and coarse in his tone. Friendly yet a bit lost and depressed and lonely. It really felt like he was furious there when he found out how his family was treated. A Moment that forever changes him. I wish not only for this questline to be patched back into the game as an alternate way to discover the three fingers/frenzied flame but also for it to be continued in a DLC, even if just a bit, him relentlessly murdering people out of vengeful hate or so, and forever vanishing as a vendor.
Btw Vyke is the guy on the Cover Art of Elden Ring , he is the personafication of what our character is to the world . A mere human with a purpose and the determination to make it , honed his skill and well travelled he returned to take up the spot of Elden Lord in good good faith , that faith being the same thing that sent him into his maddening descent. The only diffrence is our character has other choices but when it comes to Vyke he fell victim for being too good , a person of honor and respect that wouldnt shy away from what he said he would do (become Elden Lord) and his love/duty for his Maiden , he had to give up on one but he chose not to give up on either , in the end he had nothing
This is by and far the singular prepare to cry video that Vaati has done thats legitimately made me cry. It’s easily one of his best videos and some of the greatest lore to come from Elden Ring
Im sad they cut kale's quest line, his voice acting at the end is one of the best ive heard in this game. The line with him saying, "Then that is what they will get from us!" gets me every time.
Shabriri's "MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!" sounds almost euphoric, so having the contrast with Kale saying the same with such a defeated tone breaks me heart. For him there is no madness, there is only the despair, and the desire to melt it all away.
Absolutely loved watching your reaction and commentary, thank you so much for watching me and vaati's video! Vaati is posting the 4th Elden Ring PTC later today. We worked on it for 3 months, and it blows this episode out of the water so I cant wait to see your reaction to that as well. thank you for the support!
That ring Melina picks up after the frenzy flame ending is the whistle that summons torrent. By choosing the chaos ending you've also forsaken Torrent who believed in you, IMO anyone who chooses to throw away Torrent is a monster. But i get it for getting the platinum trophy.
That battle with Vyke is so good. Vaati always puts out quality content, but this one was a huge step up. That being said, he just put out a new video today, so you gotta keep going.
Iirc this was the first time the new guy started to capture scenes for vaati, my dude has been doing this for years and it always brings great talent to his videos, big props to everyone involved for sure
fun fact! Vyke is actually the one on the cover of the game. I believe the whole madness and frenzy plays a much larger role in the world than we may yet realize. The lore is so interesting!
With a game where so many lines are talked by composed individuals, it is fitting that THE BEST line in the entire game is shouted at you by someone who has had enough of it all.
I love when you pause to reflect and articulate your thoughts on certain aspects of the game. Elden ring is so massive and overwhelming, it was very rare that during your playthru you got a moment to step back and reflect. Plus I could just go watch Vaati's video without any extra narration any time I want. I'm glad you're adding something of real substance and quality when you interject into the video
The merchants, who pre-date the golden order, sport a 5 finger symbol. The fingers as we know, turn to wood upon their death. It's most likely that the fingers come from the time of the crucible tree, the source of all life. When the Greater Will arrived on its "golden meteor" there was a split of the 5 fingers, the two fingers joining the new greater will and the 3 fingers staying loyal to the primordial crucible tree. This explains why the 3 fingers wants to reset all life to a single primordial singularity to start over to a time before the Greater Will intervened with life. It was the greater will's golden order that caused the sickness of the land, caused the people to stop procreating and having children, stopped people from dying properly, caused the uprise of Those Who Live in Death, the spreading of Toxic death root which spreads incessantly, the demonization of misbegotten and omens for the crime of reminding people of the age of the crucible. The greater Will arrived and caused all this psychotic behavior to completely destroy the normal healthy life that the crucible tree created. The three fingers flame of frenzy is the only way to reverse all this damage. Ranni nor GoldMask nor fias or any other ending addresses these deep rooted problems, they only band aid things temporarily by picking new gods to lead, but we know full well the gods now can't fix any of this and neither will the next gods.
39:29 so that’s the secret cutscene you get if you do frenzied flame before burning melina, that ring is the spectral steed ring, a symbol of our betrayal of torrent. also, all of the kale stuff was cut content from the game.
The cutscene at the end is real and its a semi secret cutscene with the lord of frenzy flame ending. You have to meet the three fingers before going to the forge.
Hell yeah, another awesome reaction!! If you’re interested in another Prepare to Cry after this, I’d recommend the Blessing of Despair episode; or for more general lore investigations, the Miquella episode is a personal favorite!
Your extremely emotional reactions are so enjoyable to watch. If this one got you, then I can't wait to see how you react to "The Blessing of Despair!"
18:16 in order to get through the door at the bottom of the catacomb, the player has to unequipt everything, basically getting rid of material possessions. I wonder if the merchants were put there to taunt them. As merchants, it would be impossible for them to just get rid of their items since that's all they care about.
14:20 Yeah, pretty much. The Shabriri grapes and yellow embers you come across in madness related areas are all eyes that have been completely inundated by the Frenzied Flame. The yellow embers are just failed versions of what Shabriri grapes could have been
21:41 it clearly wasn't about if he succeeded in using the frenzied flame to burn the tree or not. it's the fact he took on the flame at all and was going to undo their world with it had he succeeded. fraternizing with an enemy is betrayal
5:17 I can comfortably say you're wrong on that front. The stories that surpass even the ones fueled by revenge, are those of actual love. Which means selflessly sacrificing one's life, time and every personal thing for the weak, innocent & beloved.
"But he didn't do it. He didn't burn the thorns" Because he couldn't He was supposed to be the Lord of Frenzied Flame before us, but he couldn't inherit the Flame Funnily enough, it's why Kale/Hyetta tell us to 'divulge our possessions' and get naked, because Vyke didn't and that's why his armor is melted where there are burns on our (the player character's) body So the same that happened to Vyke, doesn't occur with us
Vyke was imprisoned because he met with the three fingers. E: Shabriri tries to trick you into accepting the path of the Three Fingers & the Frenzy Flame (Flame of Chaos, yellow Chaos Flame - same thing) because if you do the Flame burns everything away. Vaati freaking killed this video and every Prepare to Cry since. Cinematics on another level. EE: That ring at the end is the Spectral Steed Whistle used to summon Torrent…. And it turns to dust. Assuming that means no more Torrent.
I think the eyes are more like a gate to the soul. If the soul is dead the eyes lose there light like the Prince of Death in Deeproot Depths (Godwyn the Golden)
I just saw this as well! I loved the production for this story, it really sets the mood. I decided to go with the frenzied flame ending for my 3rd playthrough recently, it was more worth it after seeing vaati's video. ❤
The line about the merchants being “deeply unforgiving” at the beginning is in the game. But, everything Kale does from the point where he says “I’m thinking of moving from this place” is cut content.
The ring is Torrents and you can hear him dying in the cinematic, Melina reveals her Gloam eye as the Gloam Eyed Queen, the Empyrean chosen to be a god who before Marika took it, wielded the Power of Destined Death and created the God Skin Apostles
That last Melina bit happens. It's the first ending I had. She becomes your baleful shadow to end you. From what I gather, the entire Frenzied path is lies and chaos. Hyetta tells you the Golden Order made a mistake with things it has only some to do with. Otherwise the world existed and ran before it fell from the sky, took the Elden Ring from the dragons, and inherited the legacy of Godfrey's Crucible. Before grace fell from the sky, were astrologers, neighbored to the Fire Giants, and the Elden Lord was Placidusax, a 5 headed dragon whose god abandoned them. The Golden Order usurped the order of the Lands Between, and therefore the best to deal with it is the simply take it back and restore Death.
Vaati is definitely a master class in how to tell a story. Seeing your lament during the video on the behalf of incredible story telling and how it affects these characters is definitely incredible within its own right. Thank you!
Somehow, I understood all this in my first playthrough. I was so full of hate and knew that the 3 Finger would bring an ending like this. I didn't care, screw all of this, this world is far too cruel, better it all burn away. I stood naked before the door and thought, "Even this cursed door is beautiful. It reminds me of the sunset". I thought of my first time in Caelid, filled with fear and finding peace in that beautiful sunset. It reminded me of the skies of Noxtella and how I fell in love with it. It reminded me of Fias hug. Of Blaids friendship.....of Alexander.... I nelt before those doors crying irl and left a message for my fellow tarnished. "Be wary of despair...let there be hope"... This game is a masterpiece.
Vaati has only gotten better at these lore videos. His team is super talented and they really know how to make Elden Ring feel so cinematic and emotional.
to get the melina cutscene at the end you need to inherit the frenzied flame before melina sacrifices herself so you burn the roots and the erdtree yourself. it's theorised that she's the gloam eyed queen because of that ending cutscene. someone very significant in the lore. theres not a lot about her but shes very important
29:08 Melina is a "funny" player with this quest, because you can either let her burn herself and then take the Frenzied Flame inside you (so she dies for nothing). Or you can take the Frenzied Flame inside you to save her, and then cure yourself of the Frenzied Flame with the gold needle (so she lives but the world doesn't end up burned by chaos) Both "hybrid" ways work
I accidentally did the first hybrid in my first play-through and did the other (where I ended with perfect order ending) on my next trying to make amends for Melina. She did not really thank me though, guess she got hung up on the reckless move of playing with frenzied flame.
Thanks for the awesome videos Emma. Also love the VaatiVidya videos myself. You mentioned movies with stories of revenge. For sure John Wick is awesome. Kill Bill came to mind when you said that, which I think is also really good. It's interesting to think how the character's story will end. Will they go through with revenge when they have the opportunity or will they let it go and move on to a new life. Looking forward to more of your content. Currently watching your Dark Souls Remastered series.
I just discovered you and I also absolutely fell in love with Elden Ring! It’s so nice to watch your lore videos because none of my friends are -this- into it, so I don’t feel quite so alone anymore. I know that sounds dramatic haha, but it’s the truth! I’m sure others have also mentioned, but I wanted to throw out there I think you’d really enjoy Miss Chalice’s lore videos. I learned a ton!
I feel like this video was Vaati's magnum opus, such a perfect story for him to depict and tell. Full of tragedy, suffering, and chaos. And the quality too! Such bliss.
Always loved the difference between the way Shabriri and Kale say "May Chaos take the world." Shabriri wants it, he's trying to scream it into existence. Kale says it so resigned, full of despair, and hatred. He's lost everything, more than he ever thought he could lose, and he's so broken that he is okay with the destruction of everything.
In his latest video, Vaati said that "The Warrior Within" is technically kinda an episode of The Age of Fracture, the most basic ending, so you might want to start with it before continue with the other two episodes about 2 other endings. It has a much more personal story and is one of the greatest lore video I've ever seen. Anyway, love your reaction videos, please keep going ^^
This my favorite Vati elden ring video I’m sad the quest from kale was cut from the finished version of the game it would have been so good with the frenzied ending
I know this video is old so you might not read this comment, but if you're interested in the more philosophical side of the Frenzied Flame ending: the youtuber Ratatoskr has a great video about this, it's called "what is the Frenzied Flame?" and it's a bit of a tough watch so no need for a reaction, but I recommend checking it out in your own time if you're interested! :)
Chaos at least in my perspective seems to quite literally be a nihilistic twist on the burning of the erdtree, it is a 'great equalizer' in a way, there will be no suffering, sorrow, sadness, pain as well as no joy, happiness, love, no jealousy or anything else, no life. It is merely death, everyone is in a state of death therefore everyone is equal.
If you meet the Frenzied Flame and Three Fingers before Melina sacrifices herself, you get that ending with her. She leaves you in disappointment and returns at the end And yeah... Hyeta.. Is a possessed body of the dead Irinia many believe.. :( sad fate
41:22 yes indeed. Both Shabriri and Hyetta were chosen by the outer god of chaos to act in its stead. So they take chosen bodies to manipulate people into spreading the flame. Hyetta shows up again in the dlc hehehe
Theres a couple trend you notice in fromsoft games like "stale/flowing water and corruption" but i never thought about the eyes (or lack thereof) and madness, dark souls 1 and 3 both have "blind eternal beings who went mad in search of knowledge" and more prominently with bloodborne aswell as this game where "insights brings the mind closer to madness",
"Confusion" sums up all of Elden Rings endings and plot points throughout the game. I played and beat it multiple times, and still feel like i know as much about the characters as when i started lol.
Seeing/Knowing too much is a relatively common theme. Seeing god will blind you, knowing about cthulhu (or other terrors from the deep) will make you mad... Hell, that theme is even explored in Stargate SG1... And probably dozens of examples I'm not aware of. The line drawn in Elden Ring seems to be about the frenzy that come afterwards (while catatonia would be the result in previous works)
21:41 it wasn't cause he burnt the thorns. he went against the natural way. he burnt himself, inhereting the frenzied flame. which is in a simple sense, is heresy. a betrayal against the golden order. cause the frenzied flame, is a rival god, to the golden order. so, his betrayal. was him abandoning the golden order and becoming a champion of the frenzied flame. but before he could unleash chaos and burn the tree, he was imprisoned.
This is easily his best prepare to cry ever made. He had so many good ones before this, but this is like a new level of storytelling for Vaati. The help he gets having a “team” now definitely is paying off. He gets to focus on the script and voicing and video pacing, MissPap gives him S-Tier gameplay footage (based on the script is my guess) and they cobble it together. The cinematography and sound design are on another level here. During Shabriri’s speech, that single cut to the smirking visage of a blood soaked Shabriri with that discordant scream is so bone chilling every time I see it. Basically everything surrounding shabriri is so interesting and well designed in this video.
This is honestly the only prepare to cry video that really broke my heart and tbh the one ending that even though is almost the worst ending morally, its by far the best one that pulls you in the most.
the frenzied flame is a very fascinating subject and the whole philosophy of it is interesting to learn about. if you're curious about it, I would highly recommend Ratatoskr video on what the frenzied flame is. although be prepared to kinda depressed since it is a very hard topic.

The Frenzied Flames...are tears. It's people who have been so hurt, so broken by the cruelty in their life, so full of dispair...that all they can do is cry, and pray the world ends their suffering.
And through their suffering, end it all
@dadab22 A beautiful description of the eyes.
@@SympatheticStrawmanVA
I think it doesn't lock you in to that ending, but there's no way you could know that in a blind playthrough either.
I believe you can cleanse yourself of the flame using the needle you get at the end of Millicent's questline?
@@deschain1910 that is correct.
@@deschain1910 just have to go through the hardest boss in the game to get it
@@SympatheticStrawmanVAnah fuck that, Frenzied flame ending>Age of the stars
VaatiVidya is a true legend, i keep watching his videos over and over again. He really is a master of the souls games lore and you can really feel that he is puting his heart into his work. what a legend
He is incredible. I’m getting the Soul Arts book for my birthday and it will probably be the best thing I ever own 🥺
@@Emmalition You're in for a treat! I got it a few months back, and I loved it!
The Kalé monologue with the Song of Despair had me tear/choke up.
I guess I feel bad for Vyke to but not as much
Hyeta was most likely just Shabriri playing a role, trying to lure you into the grip of the Three Fingers. It's been shown that he takes over dead bodies and he's all about chaos, so he probably created the role of Hyeta so he'd get his chaos burns the world ending.
I think that Hyetta is a different aspect of chaos. Not Shabriri but obviously something related to him.
She also shares the same model as Irina (morne castle quest npc) so maybe shabriri took over irinia after she died and made “hyetta”?
@@Rawrmuffin0 As he does with Yura.
If you have Melina burn the tree before acquiring the Frenzied Flame, you don't get that very end scene where she threatens to chase you down.
How she gonna chase you down when you're a pile of ash? Or is she talking to us the player since she looks into the camera
@@CodeeXD The Tarnished is not a pile of ash tho
@@CodeeXD it's only a body you become the lord of frenzied flame
@@McSireson when the tarnished inherited frenzied flame the 3 fingers modified you body to withstand any and all flames so when you burn yourself it doesn't harm you
Heyy! Little fun fact that confirms that Hyetta is actually inhabiting Irina's body: If you don't start the Castle mourne Questline, Hyetta will not show up when you get to Liurnia.
Oh! Wow! That is so cool. Thank you!!
@@marksamson4173I always assumed that Hyetta was more like Melina in that she was kind of a spirit more than a true physical being.
@@willevensen7130 maybe Hyetta is Irina's lost spirit
When Shabriri says “May chaos take the world”! Outstanding acting. Next video should be Age of the Duskborn or The Warrior within. These videos by Vaati are incredible.
Yeahhhh I’m glad that you checked this one out! My favorite story from Elden Ring! It’s so tragically great 😢
I prefer the warrior within because it's more wholesome.
@@colonelkenpachi5009 I like that one but I have a thing for bleak, tragic stories and horror as well lol. Also I really like Malenia and I hope that she comes back in Miquella’s DLC in some form 😅
"Then that's what they shall get from us!"
Is the line for me.
Most of my friends aren’t gamers and this feels like the closest I can get to discussing a lore video with a buddy ❤
Im sad they cut kale's quest line, his voice acting at the end is one of the best ive heard in this game. The line with him saying, "Then that is what they will get from us!" gets me every time.
My heart breaks every time I hear Kalé say, “we won’t be trading any longer”
Wait he says that? I thought he said "The gods betray me no longer"
Shabriri's "MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!" sounds almost euphoric, so having the contrast with Kale saying the same with such a defeated tone breaks me heart. For him there is no madness, there is only the despair, and the desire to melt it all away.
Thank God that the cut content can be repurposed for amazing work from vaati instead of going unused entirely
Today!! LFG!
@@minutemenhunter the hype is real, should be up in 1-2 hours. We're gonna do a premire so keep your eye out for the stream on his channel
Kale’s cut dialogue’s voice acting at the end is legitimately some of the best I’ve ever heard in any medium! Very glad Vaati showed it off
I like how the Tarnished in this video becomes Joshua Graham after inheriting the Frenzied Flame.
Now you know why they're called "Prepare to Cry". They tend to be the more EMOTIONAL stories in any of the lore.
Kale's VA deserved better than cut dialogue, and Vaati is a hero for showing what he was capable of
That custom music vati had made during Kale’s underground segment, so awesome.
18:16 in order to get through the door at the bottom of the catacomb, the player has to unequipt everything, basically getting rid of material possessions. I wonder if the merchants were put there to taunt them. As merchants, it would be impossible for them to just get rid of their items since that's all they care about.
Vaati's latest video is a cinematic masterpiece, his best work to date, i couldnt recommend it more
I love the freziend flame story line it just the right amount of brokenness to the world
14:20 Yeah, pretty much.
Yep, i'm subbed now.
I'm really happy to find a channel who's deep to discuss about the lore of Elden Ring through Vaati's too
5:17
I can comfortably say you're wrong on that front. The stories that surpass even the ones fueled by revenge, are those of actual love. Which means selflessly sacrificing one's life, time and every personal thing for the weak, innocent & beloved.
This is my favorite video from Vaati. I love how his story telling has evolved over the years.
"But he didn't do it. He didn't burn the thorns"
Because he couldn't
He was supposed to be the Lord of Frenzied Flame before us, but he couldn't inherit the Flame
Funnily enough, it's why Kale/Hyetta tell us to 'divulge our possessions' and get naked, because Vyke didn't and that's why his armor is melted where there are burns on our (the player character's) body
So the same that happened to Vyke, doesn't occur with us
Vaatis storytelling is literally the best I've ever seen in cinema. That fight scene against Vyke was SO 🤌 chefs kiss
“And maybe you would have…” hits so hard.
I think the eyes are more like a gate to the soul. If the soul is dead the eyes lose there light like the Prince of Death in Deeproot Depths (Godwyn the Golden)
This one is my all time favorite vati video I’ve watched it multiple times so emotional and well produced glad you liked it
I just saw this as well!
The youtuber Ratatoskr made a video "What is the Flame of Frenzy" Helps you really understand the flame of frenzy.
I am really enjoying these Lore Video’s, I’m learning a lot & the visuals are stunning! 🤗
The entirety of the prepare to cry series is mind-blowingly emotional
This one was epic! Glad you watched this and made us watch.
Fight between tarnished and Vike was the most anime thing ive ever seen
Vaati has only gotten better at these lore videos. His team is super talented and they really know how to make Elden Ring feel so cinematic and emotional.
to get the melina cutscene at the end you need to inherit the frenzied flame before melina sacrifices herself so you burn the roots and the erdtree yourself. it's theorised that she's the gloam eyed queen because of that ending cutscene. someone very significant in the lore. theres not a lot about her but shes very important
Probably dlc explanation. Like the ring city in DS3 kinda tied it off with the dark soul
29:08 Melina is a "funny" player with this quest, because you can either let her burn herself and then take the Frenzied Flame inside you (so she dies for nothing).
Or you can take the Frenzied Flame inside you to save her, and then cure yourself of the Frenzied Flame with the gold needle (so she lives but the world doesn't end up burned by chaos)
Both "hybrid" ways work
I accidentally did the first hybrid in my first play-through and did the other (where I ended with perfect order ending) on my next trying to make amends for Melina. She did not really thank me though, guess she got hung up on the reckless move of playing with frenzied flame.
The Chaos ending isn't destruction it is "nothing". No pain, no joy, no sadness, no death, no birth. Everything becomes one
Such bliss.
Thanks for doing these types of reactions, it's somehow less daunting to watch 'together' since the lore videos can be so dense 😵💫
Wow you picked a GREAT prepare to cry video to start out with. This is one of his absolute best.
this guys videos are....they are a masterpiece, maybe even beyond that. wow. just wow
Thanks for sharing Emma! I really enjoyed this one and all your introspectives on it!
This my favorite Vati elden ring video I’m sad the quest from kale was cut from the finished version of the game it would have been so good with the frenzied ending
Yup, sprung a leak at "broke us upon their whims" what vocabulary, what exposition. Sublime and cutting
I was waiting for You to react to this one. Easily my favorite Vaati video, he put a lot of passion into this story
Vaatis voice is so soothing. I can listen to that all day.
44:10 "There's still good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."
If you meet the Frenzied Flame and Three Fingers before Melina sacrifices herself, you get that ending with her. She leaves you in disappointment and returns at the end
And yeah...
Another video that may explain the frenzy flame lore is SmougTown's video on the subject. I also recommend watch all his videos on elden ring lore.
Watching you cry constantly is so wholesome 🤣 you add a lot to the original videos
these videos are such a pleasure to watch. and ive already seen the vaati videos multiple times
