- Here I discuss what parts of the plant to harvest for effective use, when to harvest them, how to make oil out of them for use as a salve, as well as discuss the science behind how Calendula is effective as a medicine.
I have been growing these for the last few years. They reseed themselves wonderfully and I only planted them once 3 years ago. This is the first year I’ve harvested for making tea. Btw I made two quarts of echinacea tincture so far. I hope to be able to double that before the frost comes. Next video suggestion...borage.
Kimberly Guimond that’s awesome! I’ll look into borage. That’s not one that I am terribly familiar with. Thanks for the suggestion.
Can you please make more of these videos? I am an aspiring herbalist and there are not many videos as educational as yours. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome. I have had quite a hiatus from video making and am gearing up to make more soon.
I got on here to say the same thing! More videos please!
Thank you for this valuable information. ❤️
Great video and information…Thank you!
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for. Will there be any more? Thank you so much!
You did a good job explaining🌺
Thank you! 😊
I have folks get this one mixed up with the other marigolds, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagetes all the time. An important reason for know the botanical names of plants :)
Really looking forward to new videos!
Can I dehydrate these? I live out in farm country where we have so many crop dusters and birds that would be all over that! 😂
do think castor oil cold pressed 100% organic is good to use for topical use?
@@kel6385 I would think so. Many salves use castor oil. But it’s not the ideal or preferred oil for medicine. Not sure why, just know it is used less often.
Try zooming more on the plant s..
I would rather use organic sesame oil or coconut oil . Both are better I think , because of all the videos on the suspicious practice of making olive oils presently . Meaning it may not be extra virgin first cold pressed . There is a good reliable one made in California . Make sure it is the more expensive one
There is also the notion of using animal fats vs. plant based oils. The idea being that the animal fats absorb better into the skin. I have not done serious research into the idea but it is also something to consider.
Love your video there was another woman who said avocado oil is the best I like jojoba oil so there's all kinds
@@pathrstrendered beef tallow is awesome.
I made calendula oil with jojoba oil, that’s all I had.
Then I used heated, clear coconut oil it saved my hyperthyroidism skin. I love calendula.
The volumn of the video went down when you started with the flower on the table.
Sorry about that.
Sure we can get married
Man, are you sure that what you are picking is not Buphthalmum salicifolium? Calendula officinalis has wider leaves. BS have all components as Calendula, but only is Calendula is Calendula.
I’m pretty sure. I got seeds from what I felt was a reputable source, though I can’t remember where now, and checked against a couple books.
I just picked some up from the nursery, mine looks like the ones in the video.
the seed pod determined it's a calendula
Love this it was so funny I was looking at calendula flowers dried on Amazon and several of the people commented it had bugs in it which is actually the seeds because they look that strange!
I got a good laugh out! of that
