That's the wrong way to deal with the problem. People who spent hours (and maybe money) grinding those tanks are being punished.
The way the Chief should be addressed is it should be made available in it's oroginal form in CW and/or the bond shop. if in the bond shop it should be very expensive e.g. 60K bonds..
The 279 should be left as is, and maybe the missions should be made a bit easier.
I have the chief. I ground bonds for years every night and I partiticpated in a LOT of Asia campaigns whicvh are 6-8 hours a night and got it through the auction. I have a 42% win rate, If I can get a chief anyone could - as long as WG would make it available somehwere again.
I don't have an probably will never have the 279, I'm not good enough.
But making these tanks available to every one - but expensively solves the issue. Every one can have one, they just need to work hard.
Nerfing them punishes the people who already worked hard.
They needed a nerf but maybe not such a hard nerf. Like pen and hull traverse on chief is a bit much. Reload and mobility was enough and alreadya huge nerf, but wot balancing team smokes weed always as they are clearly not payed to balance the game, esp tech tree tier 8s etc.
Exactly. we spent hell a lot of time to get chief and 279e. Now its all waste of time.. think of the toxic global map event we played to get the chieftain, spending more than 6 hours a day of 2 weeks to get inside the rank to get a chieftain. That toxic game mode with toxic players. Now there is no point of being in a clan anymore.
Yeah make op tanks available to everyone and mm will be filled with chieftan and 279, and those bottom tier viii tanks will have a fun time against them. Sound like a great idea, doesnt it? I dont think so
You signed the EULA. You already knew in-game rewards and premium tanks would be nerfed or buffed at any time. Too bad, so sad.
I spend years grinding differents tanks in the game getting bond equipment etc and i cannot use 90% of them because of this two tanks. Nerfing and adjusting their caracteristics to be a balance thing it the proper way to proced. And that should apply to all vehicles.
FINALLY, what many people have wanted for YEARS!!! But MM still needs tweaking given that the number of lopsided battles at higher tiers is atrocious. Reducing RNG to 10% or less would also be very welcome.

If these changes had appeared 2-3 years ago I might have still been playing the game. Still, they are good balance changes so whatever. The Patriot needed a little buff for sure. It's been out of meta since forever.

You are lucky, during prime time on the asia server youll see these 2 tanks 6 out of 10 games & both in a platoon on 1 side vs all tech tree on the other.

I'm glad they are nerfing them, but HOLY HELL why is WG so allergic to weak spots or just addressing actual problems with their rebalancing.
I played my e50m like a main battle tank, very fun.
Amx m4 49 finally worth grabbing ?! Now they need to buff that horrible 100mm gun in all french tanks.
Btw I think the reason why we hate the chieftain and 279 (e) is because of their armor and the lack of weakspots ... Which is not an issue addressed in the nerfs. Bigger and weaker cupulas, maybe make the bottom of 279 overmatchable by all 122 mm ... Make chief lower plate weaker so you can pen it with a tier 8 without gold ammo ...
Anyway.
If they made the chieftain dpm a lot lower and make it more inaccurate, a tier X T32 would not be that op. Annoying at times, but you can play around it. The current problem is that it is a tier X T32 that is fast, great dpm, accurate gun, upper hull is strong when using max gun depression with the great turret.

The problems of this game, which will eventually lead to its disappearance (if WG does not try to solve them), are not the characteristics of the tanks. They are the following:
1. The Matchmaker. It is frustrating and annoying a match that ends in 3 minutes with the score 15-0, not once but many times in one evening. For nothing, HP is approximately the same if the personal score of the players from the two teams is enormously in favor of one team!
2. Choosing tanks in teams. In vain, HP is approximately the same if one team has Obj 279e, Chief, and other reward tanks and the other has none!
3. Give up RNG or if you keep it, give up custom RNG. It is frustrating and annoying to see that you aim correctly and the projectile exceeds the dispersion circle or falls to the ground in front of the targeted tank. It is annoying to see that the RNG gives you a minus on the HP of the shot and the number of penetrations and the opponent, with the same tank, is helped by the same RNG.
I for one decided that after 2-4 matches with a score of 15-0/5 and finished in 3-4 minutes, no matter if I win or lose, I will turn off the computer and turn it off after 7 days. If the same happens after the 7 days, the break is extended to 14 days and so on until I reach a year, 2 years or... until I notice that these problems have been solved. I enter this game to relax, not to get nervous.
PS Please stop selling illegal mods, I think the money earned from selling the premium account and premium tanks is enough.
I'm glad they are nerfing the Chief and 279. That's half the reason I quit tanks but I don't see them being replaced in CW. Speed is the game I know but now they're going to be used as good defensive tanks or second line push tanks. Yes they will be behind the initial push but than they come in and clean up afterword's.
The t26e5 buff is going to make it just above average now but will still be pasted up by the BZ-176.
Your initial statement on CW is that of a toddler.
The nerf to the chieftain speed and dpm are fine except the premium pen nerf. It should retain the former pen value.
Im expecting a new double barrel high pen HE shell booster siege mode HT since they nerfed this.

The best and ultimately where the game is going is to make them both Super Tanks and effectively Tier 11, like in World of Warships, then WGing can then bring in the T-72 and whatever else. Rather than Nerf them. That way it also bans them from Tier 10 Clan Wars by default.
Good news but will only believe it when I see it. WoT stream literally said "it's only a proposal, so keep that in mind when setting your expectations". With that in mind I would be thinking the supertest is only a PR exercise.
the patriot needed the buff, the tank itself was fine but the gun handling was disgusting for its alpha
The 268 V4 has already been pretty bad after the first big nerfs, now it lost its only positive side (ramming) lol
most ppl don't care about clan wars. most ppl just sick playing randoms against overpowered tank driven by the best players.
Don't worry guys after nerfing the chief and 279 within one year an even more op broken tank (or tanks) will take it's place

The nerfs are too little and are for the wrong aspects of the tank. Its the armour not the speed and its the size of the weak points not the dpm or gun handling.

279e is a randoms bully. It's not really that prevelant in clan wars games other than very specific maps and a limited role of "hold this position." It's generally too slow for Clan Wars and much easier to pen with gold, which is a clan wars certainty. It needed a nerf but clan wars is not the reason why.
Chief needed nerfs for clan wars and randoms alike.
You obviously don’t play cw on a higher lvl. 279 is played on almost every map in big numbers and chief is being played less except few maps where you need gun depression.
@@jarjar3872 I used to play clan wars with territory on the global map every year but have been out for two years now. Unless something major has changed, 279e was not staple at all. The again my clan favoured map pools that didn't suit the 279e as much anyway.

This is just sad, it's intentional. They purposefully introduce OP tanks and nerf them later. It's just how they roll since ever, tell me any year and i tell you what most op tank was that year, you guys remember when T110e5 was op and main tank in cw ? What about the maus era ?

Bruh WG needs to address the main issue and that is the lack of weakspots. By nerfing the chieftain and 279 speed , they have essentially just made it so both clans in a clan war get to the hill slower. 🤡
it has a weakspot on turret and it's annoying af if enemies are good and know where the weakspot it. Basically shit
Will rebalancing tanks solve the design targets in the matchmaking?
Those 15-1 battles when you inspect the WR of every player in the two teams and can sum up the difference.
Those players with very old accounts that never went above 4,000 WR, never really learnt to do anything but camping in a heavy tank at the A5 small hill at Sand River.
Those... sons of the Lord who put their AMX-13-57 in a corner or behind a rock and do nothing during a 10 minutes battle.
Those sometimes even 3 or 4 players afk from the start of the battle to the very end.
And so on...
The problem in WoT is not the match making making possible these behaviours. No, let's nerf and buff some digital content. 🤣

Because IS7 has just as good armour but is not OP. Cheiftain keeps flavour but if gun and mobility gets nerf enough, it will become good but not op

215-250mm if the tank is on flat ground. Angled back it gets harder.

the main problem isnt the gun, speed or other stats. its the fact that they have stupid armour and no real weakspots. The easiest fix would just to nerf the armour and increase size of weakspots but noo, lets make them boring to play and boring to play against. Every time WG nerfs armoured tanks, they just create more tornvagns instead of actually fixing them
I’ll take any nerf they do right now, still better than doing nothing. Then maybe in the future they can alter the armor and profile of the tank.
if they gonna keep the armor give it is-4 gun handling. Take 10 years for the recticle to settle down

Chief is not only about the armor... if you think that... then you clearly don't understand why it is broken...
By you statement, T32 is op. It is not. The problem is the Chieftain has great turret while getting everything else. T32 is balanced by bad accuracy, bad dpm, bad mobility, bad upper and lower hull with only having op turret armour and good view range.
So if the Chieftain had around the dpm of the IS7, another no weakspot tier X HT and the same gun handling and mobility, it would be still great but not OP.
The 279e can easily be penned frontally with gold, that tank is not that overpowered. Any tier 10 can pen the 279e frontally with gold but the 279e cant do the same
