I know how you feel. I was obsessed with Shane and the Fine Bros when I was in middle school and now I am so disgusted with myself! When Shane became under heat for his past videos, I kept thinking he wasn't that bad why is everyone freaking out. Then I rewatched all those videos that I use to find so hilarious and I can't believe I use to think that was okay.

Something about the Fine Bros is so sus but I rarely hear criticism of them outside of the "react" scandal. I'm glad you're talking about it cause the deeper you look the creepier they get. "F the Prom" was so bad and creepy but "Hey it's milly" is just straight up disturbing. Hopefully they'll disappear like Shane Dawson but I really doubted it :(

There are some tiktoks from Eric and Tori from React and they couldn't say anything. They hinted that they could be sued for saying anything against them.
Any OGs of UA-cam are seemingly protected by the fact they're old channels. Newer accs that make edgy jokes are slammed down on by UA-cam and the public, old ones that are wealthy are protected. Dodgy af.
@@MS-xk1ne I defiantly agree. There's something weird about 30+ year olds getting away with shit but younger youtubers like James Charles and Leafy, etc get damaging hit pieces or taken out by youtube when there are OG youtube channels much worse then them.
@@MS-xk1ne I think it's because people have a "bond" with them, as they have been present in their lives providing content for so long... Many people watched them during their teenage years etc, so they kind of have that emotional memories of it. Newer UA-camrs haven't been around long enough (as in like, a decade) for most people to have that connection. Also people love acting as if everything new is shit and only older things are worthy (because of the emotional bond they remember things better than they were), so there is also that - "all these new UA-camrs are shit, only OG UA-camrs are worthy of fame!!!" ~ crazy, old fans

also people did criticise these people, and they’d get viciously attacked.
@Claudia Gomes the difference between jenna marbles and shane dawson is that there we could see her growth, and her apology was sincere and pretty much addressed everything. shane dawson never addressed the bulk of the criticisms brought against him, only picking the more tame ones.
he never addressed kissing underage fans on the mouth, asking them for fairly sexual content on daily booth, the fact that he pretended to masturbate to a poster of an 11 year old willow smith, and the list goes on.
plus, some of the things he was criticised for were as recent as 2017, so don’t act like it’s a far off thing.

I watch You Tube, but I am 37. Yes, I was still old in Shane and the Fine Bros "gross out humor" hey day. I recognized entirely that it wasn't edgy humor, because it was never clever or funny, and was clearly aimed at a young audience. I couldn't understand how they were getting away with it, and I didn't really watch them, this was just from clips, etc. I watched Shane maybe once a year, and was left thinking, how is this happening? I think the issue is that children watched them, and defended them, and now those children are young adults, and they realise how bad it was.
At the time, what should have been assessed by adults from You Tube, never was.

I get what people are saying though, it was a “different” time in the sense that nobody spoke up about it, there wasn’t a lot of information on WHY it was wrong and us as children who watched it really didn’t understand? (Just saying not trying to like argue or anything)

I was about to comment on that. That poor girl is in a terrible place. She grew up around screens and broadcasts her life because it's all she knows - even when she's drunk or under the influence. Questionable people have made a guest star in her lifestreams and that rightfully caused her fans to try to reach out to her, but it falls on deaf ears. I don't think Lia understand she's being taken advantage by these sketchy people.

I've always wondered about their involvement with Lia Marie Johnson. She was a huge reoccurring person on their show (she was even on kids react). Somehow we've completely forgotten about her and that scandal where she seemed very disoriented and her older producer was kissing her in a livestream. Sources say he's been her producer since she was 12!! Is it a coincidence that she was involved with several older men that are rumored of inappropriate behavior with young people?

There was a youtube short recently released interviewing two boys from kids/teens react. They revealed Lia Marie is in her "crack head stage" and lives in a trap house. It's pretty sad to hear.

Even back in 2010 - 2012, the reason they got so big is the algorithm loved their videos. They were advertiser-friendly, they featured KIDS, TEENS and OLD age groups (notice the missing of young adult / middle-aged demographics).
Then they also blew up, due to featuring UA-camrs. Their fans boosted them to top of trending/homepage always.
Just look at their current views. They barely break 1mil views even though they have 20mil+ subscribers.
I only watch the ones with the children because they are a bit “funnier.” And I just love children in general.
(I’m 15, technically a child too but I just think younger kids have funnier reactions and they are pretty smart when it comes to opinion giving.)

just a tip for the future, if you're going to add a trigger warning to something it's best to specify what you're warning people about. Triggers can be very specific, so just adding "trigger warning" without specifying is a bit useless since people don't know which particular trigger you're warning them for. I know youtube will demonitize for the word p*dophelia but you could get around that by saying "innapropriate behaviour w minors" for example. This can help people really decide if they should continue watching the video or not.

I forget about HeyIt'sMillie until recently with all the Shane Dawson drama. And holy shit dude. I watched that show all the time in middle school, and everything flew over my head. I had no idea what I was watching was so gross and wrong. There's no way watching stuff like Millie and Shane didn't mess with my perceptions of the world as a kid.
It was good to see those who have worked with the Fine Bros/FBE [react, crew, cast etc] speaking out. I wonder if the signs were there for some time. I found a video many months ago from William [who used to be on Kids React, and has a UA-cam channel of his own called SuperSherman or something], who finally revealed why he left React. Because of the bad contract, which also included FBE being more 'in control' of his channel, reducing his own creative freedom. Like, why? Many of the React cast also have their own UA-cams and social medias and have left, including Kennedy. React World was bad enough, and what happened around the time Kennedy said she left, not to mention uncovering the Milly stuff and more means that I'm even more done with them, if that's even possible.

Their is a difference between edgy / dark humor and being rude.

I remember being in middle school when hey it’s milly came out and being very disturbed by it. Now I’m 23 and I fully understand how disturbing it is.
I was one of the kids who didn’t like Shane Dawson BECAUSE he was inappropriate and racist, and being lightly bullied because I didn’t like him.
I gave him another chance in 2018 because I thought maybe he changed (from the difference I saw in his content) and my then roommate watched his vlogs all the time, but I’m glad that people are cracking down on him and all the disgusting enablers/abusers who were affiliated with him.

People say "it was a different time" but my theory is that a lot of kids were on the internet back then watching this sort of thing, and kids like us just chose to watch something else. Now, those kids have grown up, and youtube/ the internet has a much bigger audience, of all ages! Watching youtube isn't just something "the youth" do anymore lol. So now, more eyes are watching and are able to speak up when something isn't right.

TL:DR - The fine Bros are horrid, cry along with their dying channel because of how they’re horrible people. Not because of something they did 10 years ago, but because they’re horrible people in the present.
Something that was made 10 years ago Is stupid to hate on someone for making…. But if there is something that’s constantly happening in house at the Fine Bros, Like discrimination, then that’s the problem you should focus on.
Not something from 10 years ago, something that was a stupid trend on UA-cam, and that people of that culture were fine with. Hell there are some youtubers who are still around from that time, that recognize how bad that time in UA-cam was, and even apologized because if that time. The majority of them “Grew up” because that’s what happens when you go through life. I’d bet tons of them have either hidden what they’ve made because they’re ashamed of their creation, or have responded to the criticism against said horrid video they did 10 or so years ago, and made amends.
Focus on that, bigotry, not decades of old drama.
Also I am not some “Fine Bros” or “Shane Dawson” shill. I never watched Shane, and actually hated him. And I stopped watching the Fine Bros after their react videos started becoming less interesting, and started to dwindle…. And that was only a few years after seeing their “react to Dan and Phil” video, which got me watching those two more than them. I’m more responding to how stupid people can be. Old stuff is old, focus on the new, continuing things, like if they’re *constantly* racist, or discriminatory.
