If you like this song, you, will love "Paradise by the Dashboard light". It is wonderful that young people are listening to extremely good music from decades ago. 😊

One of the greatest albums that almost never got made. What's really impressive is the the motorcycle part was done on guitar, that whole solo was done in one take by Todd Rundgren.

    MORE MEAT LOAF!!! 👍😀🔥
One of the three greatest male rock voices of all time, alongside Freddie Mercury and Jimmy Barnes. Literally anything you check out by him is a masterpiece vocally. The entire Bat Out Of Hell album was a continuous story where a guy meets the girl of his dreams and falls in love, pursues her until they're in a relationship which feels great, then she tells him that she wants him and needs him but will never love him so he wanders sadly forward in life and connects with another girl from school who he promises to marry just to get her to sleep with him and it goes very badly because really, she's the rebound. One night after decades of marriage, he's had enough and takes off on his motorbike intending to never come back but crashes it over the edge of a cliff leaving him dying in the bottom of a pit all torn and twisted (this song - #1). As he's dying, he flashes back on his life (songs 2-6) and realizes that his wife was always there for him and he wasted all the years angry that she wasn't that first true love that he was thinking of, but she loved him and took care of him and encouraged him and for crying out loud, he does love her! But sadly this revelation only comes on the edge of death as he's fading away. Fortunately (or not depending on your perspective), a member of the undead comes upon him and turns him into a vampire. He spends decades wandering the Earth as a soulless vessel until he comes upon somebody who he falls in love with and who loves him back - somebody that he'll never say he's going to love her forever and never leave just to get her into bed - he'd do anything for love, but he's learned his lesson and he won't do that.
So ya: listen to this album in order: You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, Heaven Can Wait, All Revved Up With No Place to Go, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, and For Crying Out Loud. Then move on to Peel Out, I'm Gonna Love Her For Both of Us, More Than You Deserve, I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back, Read 'em and Weep, Dead Ringer For Love (with Cher), Bad Attitude, Modern Girl, Nowhere Fast, Surf's Up, I'd Do Anything for Love (but I Won't Do That), Life is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back, Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through, Out of the Frying Pan (and Into the Fire), Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are, Everything Louder Than Everything Else, Where the Rubber Meets the Road, I'd Lie for You (and That's the Truth), Couldn't Have Said It Better, Did I Say That?, The Monster is Loose, Blind as a Bat, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, Bad for Good, Alive, What About Love?, The Future Ain't What It Used To Be, Peace on Earth, If I Can't Have You, Elvis in Vegas, Going All the Way is Just A Start (A Song in 6 Movements), Loving You's a Dirty Job (but Somebody's Gotta Do It), Souvenirs, and A Time for Heroes. I'd say those are his 10/10 songs. Then you can move onto his 9.5/10 catalogue. 🤣

Oh my rock 'n' roll soul, behold the glory of "Bat Out of Hell"! This badass album from 1977 has soared to the tippy-top of the charts, basking in the sweet embrace of record-breaking sales. And who, pray tell, is the minstrel behind this majestic madness? None other than Meat Loaf, wielding his powerful pipes like a messenger from the gods of rock. But let us not forget the wizardry of Jim Steinman, this mad genius of composition, concocting songs that treat teenage angst with the grandiose touch of ol' Richard Wagner himself. Steinman be like, "I'mma do mini Grand Guignol epics, y'all!" Ain't nobody else even thinkin' 'bout doin' that!
Now, let me tell ya, Meat Loaf was born to bring these Steinman creations to life. He's a force of nature, skillfully alternating between bombastic, sentimental, and joyously infectious, infusing every note with pure rock 'n' roll extravaganza. "Bat Out of Hell" ain't just an album, my friend. It's a whole damn experience, bursting at the seams with standout tracks that'll make your soul tingle. Meat Loaf knows how to dig deep. He's got the heartbreak flowing in "Two out of Three Ain't Bad" and he's slinging sly humor with a flick of his tongue in "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." It's a journey, and Meat Loaf's leading the way.
But hold on tight, because we can't forget the maestro of production, Todd Rundgren. This cat knows how to give Steinman's grandiose vision the royal treatment. He takes that self-styled grandiosity and blows it up to staggering proportions! But don't you worry, my brethren, it never overwhelms. Nay, it seduces. It entices. It's like a siren calling you to rock 'n' roll heaven. There's some serious style and craft lurking within those bombastic walls. It's a massive masterpiece, reaching glorious heights of epicness that'll leave you awestruck.
Raise your horns to the majesty that is "Bat Out of Hell." This album is a gift to humanity, reminding us of the true power and magic of rock 'n' roll! - Find New Ye

Fun fact, Meatloaf was a nickname given to him by his high school football coach... And it stuck to the point of naming the band and keeping the moniker for himself. It seems that he's been 'big boned' since childhood. 😏 Oh yeah, you have to hear 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'!

Really enjoyed watching you discover this classic, wondering if you’d be able to resist standing up…. No one writes em like Jim Steinman (those tempo shifts! the OTT lyrics!) and no one can deliver like ML! That voice! He is the master of emotions. So much to love from these two. Paradise of course. You may also enjoy Life is a Lemon (1993 Orlando video)…deliciously dystopian! You know the song Jessie’s Girl? Try I’m Gonna Love Her for Both of Us. Ridiculous lyrics and ML just explodes!

Great reaction! I grew up with this sort of stuff - truly, my youth was blessed. For a slight variation, why not look at the Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler? Meatloaf had a bit of a love/hate relationship with her. Her "Holding Out For A Hero" was the theme to the only UK TV programme in the 1980's which covered the NFL.
