What is even more dark is the fact that he can survive for 3 days. It means that link pushing him out of the water results in him passing. Maybe if he was sent back with the Zora's in stayed in the water he could have been nursed back to health and survived or maybe not.
@@brodude3709 yeah that was definitely some dramatic 'holding on because of something important to live for' shit Then the drama is cut through slightly so it's not too heavy, by having him play a heartfelt guitar solo before keeling over dead.
I racked my brain trying to figure out what Anju could have been cooking, and I think I might have figured it out. The yellow food is most likely a pile of yellow fried rice. I imagine it's either eggs or turmeric that give it that yellow color. The black dots are probably cooked mushrooms, and I'm pretty certain--given the ingredients on the counter--that there is onion in that fried rice, as well. All in all, a pretty healthy dish, especially for an elderly person. The soup was what stumped me the most. At first I thought, maybe it's some sort of spicy ramen? But I can't imagine anyone serving anything THAT spicy to an old woman, so I had to do a little more digging. Judging from the dark red color and the bits of white floating on top, I think that bowl contains oshiruko, a sweet red bean soup with bits of white mochi. It would make for a soft, warm, and healthy dessert; and again, a great option for an older person! Too bad Granny doesn't want to give Anju a chance, though. They look delicious.

Anju mentions during her cooking that the Inn used to be a cafeteria. Her late father did the cooking, if memory serves correct. She also skips steps in making lunch that day; rushing to finish the meal before the goron reservation arrives in the afternoon. I mentioned in a reply that Anju might drown the food in spices to hide the flaws. It's a common mistake people make when cooking. They just end up further sabotaging the meal.

I once pushed Mikau close to shore, became a goron, and then tried to push him the rest of the way. Instead, I picked up Mikau, and he started walking onto the shore to collapse *while still in my hands.* This was a soft-lock, as he was trying to get to a point on shore, so he was forever walking in cutscene in Link's hands.
I love this series. Makes me realize how much effort went into Majora"s Mask. It's so wild. All the little things that in modern games are handled by the engine, usually bought like Unreal, are hard coded and added in. The arrows thing is crazy.

Ocarina of time and Majoras mask are my 2 favorite games of all time and I thought I knew EVERYTHING about them. Usually half the stuff I see on these videos I already knew about but also the other half I had no idea. Every time I see you've uploaded another one of these videos I get excited to learn something new about a game I thought I knew everything about. Please keep them coming!!
With the first point being about the arrow physics again, it made me realize that the reason Young Link uses a Bow in Majora's Mask after using a slingshot in Ocarina of Time is that he has the practice from using the former in the adult timeline. It's exceptionally obvious, but I somehow never put it together until just now.
@Gi Gi well problem is that for how fast and little the bow is to get an arrow to fly a decent amount of distance and be a threat you would need a tremendous amount of effort to pull it enough. Basically what I'm saying is that when you lack strenght crossbows ar where it's at but they slow. But hey I'm just nitpicking at a fictional character so it doesnt matter in the end, cool gameplay take precedence over realism in most cases lol
Some of the sound effects in this game are just.. chilling for some reason. Like when you shoot the bell with the arrow in Cool Thing #1 - I'd recognise that sound ANYWHERE :P
Yes! Ever since this game came out, I've always associated it with its sounds. For me, it's when Ingo hits his hand on the table in the Milk Bar. I don't know why that sound in particular, but even something that sounds similar brings me back to this game. And, of course, those first few high-pitched notes of The Final Hours.
My only argument against the "quicker" way of getting the song of soaring is that since you needed a bottled fairy to survive the poison water because, as mentioned, it's early game and you won't have many hearts, you'll have rescued Koume to even have the bottle in the first place, at which point, you may as well just take the boat cruise as you'll need to find a fairy to bottle first otherwise. The six bottles in the N64 version are from the witch sisters (and the intended first bottle), the goron race, the ranch, the graveyard, the beaver race, and madame aroma. Without exploits, the one from the sisters is required to be able to get the other five.
aww, i feel bad for anju.. cooking is such hard work, especially for someone to outright refuse to eat it. if granny doesn't like garlic in her cooking, she should just say so. my mema's the same way, and i make portions for her that don't include garlic or garlic powder. then again, this is a video game, so i don't know why i'm putting so much thought into it.. 😅 thank you for the videos! i'm always learning something new in them.

Maybe you can show the Clocktown shopkeepers (day & night) mask conversations. They make pretty interesting comments about most of the masks, my favorite being the Zora dialog.
I just randomly remembered: If you do 3 Spin Attacks in a row, the third one does a double spin. Most people never see this because you need to do the (Control Stick 360)+B method, which rarely works.
It's not doing 3 in a row, it's just spinning your control stick more before doing one! I also believe you can do it with the charge method, but you don't usually have a reason to be spinning the control stick with that method so that's why you don't see it!
@@Kosmicd12 BRB gotta try that! I guess since a single spin of the control stick rarely works, a double spin is even more finicky. But, doing the attack 3x in quick succession will also give you the double spin.

(5:42) I always wondered about that... I always assumed that they either forgot to add the bowl to the spoon, or they were using chopsticks on soup to show that Anju is REALLY bad at cooking. XD
I'm confused, Madame Aroma always gives you one of the bottles, not just on JP version. I guess it's just that on JP you can get it repeatedly? I don't think she ever gives a heart piece

These videos are so well made, that make even the smallest detail interesting and great to look at! It is always an instant thumb up from me, you never dissapoint!
Your Zelda videos are my favorites! Imagine if Looygi Bros. did an entire playthrough of Oot or MM and used the custom cam to make it like a series. That would be the shit.
Here's a cool thing: If you kill one of the Chuchus in the Inverted Stone Tower Room with the block you have to push and don't collect the magic or arrows, it will not rotate with Link and the rest of the room when you shoot the LIght Arrow switch, and it will end up on the opposite side of the room as Link.
If you've taken the time to go get a bottle, I'm not sure doing the bomb shield backflip to the other side of the Big Octo is that much faster than just taking the boat over, but the jump on the rock from the lily pad is a good sequence break.
Not even a sequence break, just a shortcut. Can get to the rocks by going to the palace and taking the right path. There's a deku flower which takes you back out the swamp area, and you just hop on top of the large flowers, as intended. Part of that path takes you on top of the rock. Since it doesn't actually "skip" anything other than the small cutscene when you enter the palace area for the first time, it's not a sequence break.
3:37: "Madame Aroma will reward Link with a Bottle, instead of the Heart Piece of the EU/US version." ...were there changes made to subsequent EU/US versions like there was with OoT? I've always gotten the bottle of Chateau Romani when I delivered the Priority Mail directly to her, never a Heart Piece. I always try to get this part of the Couples Mask quest done before going to Great Bay so I'll have more bottles to transport eggs with
These videos are amazing and show what an incredible job Nintendo did in creating OoT and MM. I dread the day when Looygi Bros have shown everything OoT and MM have to offer and this series ends. However, I will be thankful that you guys got to show us everything these masterpieces' of games have to offer 🥰
The arrow detail is kind of impressive, when you know how old that game is. That game really was ahead of its time, and it was made under time constraints.
A secret for a part 14 video, there is a alternate opening cutscene starting on romani ranch, after the game start and before normal cutscene play, press any button two times to go to the file select, then just press B to go back and the altenate opening cutscene plays.
@@Hourglass36 ohh it plays on the title screen. Sorry, it sounded like he was saying "as you enter romani ranch, before the cutscene plays, press.." and i'm like what so, backing out of the file select screen back to the title gives you an alternate intro scene to the ranch? that's hella cool.
I miss how Zelda games back in the day had dark aspects in games every detail in the media will be chilling to understand. A link to the past when he turns to a bunny, I find that both creepy and surprise. Also, I want to mention why the moon has a angry face and if I remember it might be the angry sun from SMB3.
A curiosity that almost nobody knows and is used in randomizer in very extreme cases: solar switches can be activated using spring water, I mean you can invert the stone tower temple using the spring water, the problem you must use the hover bomb glitch and throw the spring water from a great height on the solar switch
When Anju has the tray with food on her hands, doesn't that steam animation look weirdly familiar to the Hot Air Animation on PilotWings64 for the hang glider? Maybe it's the same but downsized? Anyone care to comment?
Imagine the world is ending, your daughter's husband has just vanished, and she takes time of holding up her small business and keeping the economy of the entire town afloat with a brave face to cook for you, and you pretend to be losing your mind and set her on a course to worry about you for YEARS just because you don't like garlic.
There are so many little easter eggs in this game. Whatever you do, don't re-enter the deku king palace during the final hours after learning the soanta of awakening... You'll get a pretty dark cutscene!
Go to the dinner table in Romani and Cremia’s house and examine the dishes. Each cup, basket, and teapot has a second cup, basket, and teapot clipping through it. I guess they duplicated the models on accident?
I got one. I'm replaying it and I just found out that the longer you take to bring mikau to the shore, the further he drifts away in the sea. Each day, his body gets more far away in the sea
This isn't exactly "secret" but not a lot of players know about it. In the pictograph photo contest you will get unique dialogue and reward when turning in a picture of a Big Octo.
You can actually complete a heart container as Deku Link within the 1st 3 day cycle. You can obtain these 4 heart pieces in Clock Town as Deku Link during this cycle. It's kinda grim knowing that Mikau can survive another day or 2 of you just don't take him out of the water. You essentially kill him when you "rescue" him. You could theoretically leave him in the water and call upon other Zora for medical attention.

Been playing this game since 2000 and just replayed it recently. It's amazing how 20+ years later one can still discover new things about these gems.
Oh wow, I always start Great Bay (and indeed any region) at the start of a new cycle, so I legit never knew Mikau drifted to different places!
Maybe in JP the programming makes so it adds a new bottle to the inventory instead of just filling with milk?
Same I don’t think she give heart piece
The top comment addresses it, apparently you get a bottle of something else, just can't keep getting bottles
4:34 Lmao, that reminds me of glitch from OOT that did the opposite: It turned any item of the inventory into an empty bottle
I always wondered what the food that Anju cooked was
From "Mark Makers" comment: The yellow food is most likely a pile of yellow fried rice. I imagine it's either eggs or turmeric that give it that yellow color. The black dots are probably cooked mushrooms, and I'm pretty certain--given the ingredients on the counter--that there is onion in that fried rice, as well. I think the soup bowl contains oshiruko, a sweet red bean soup with bits of white mochi.
Excellent work, as always! You put a great magnifying lens on my all time fav game.
My man loves his Custom cam. These videos just get better and better. 📸
These videos are so well made, that make even the smallest detail interesting and great to look at! It is always an instant thumb up from me, you never dissapoint!
Love this series, and your bad jingle is getting better and better. Keep it up, Loygees.
I didn't realize that Anju used specific instruments.
I always thought it was just a spoon.
Same here. I find that interesting
Very cool 😎
Let's just appreciate the custom camera and the work put into it.
Too good!
This game is just epic. Years later you show me new stuff ive never noticed!
Granny's face at the end looked really creepy.
These videos make me so happy, thank you!
I’ve never seen the interaction with Anju bringing her Grandma lunch before. Just when I thought I’d seen every scene in MM.
Your Zelda videos are my favorites! Imagine if Looygi Bros. did an entire playthrough of Oot or MM and used the custom cam to make it like a series. That would be the shit.
Your Romani Ranch intro was beautifully shot. Well done.
Man i love this channel so much and the guy who makes these
Here's a cool thing: If you kill one of the Chuchus in the Inverted Stone Tower Room with the block you have to push and don't collect the magic or arrows, it will not rotate with Link and the rest of the room when you shoot the LIght Arrow switch, and it will end up on the opposite side of the room as Link.
I mean
one of those is "cool things about having a free camera" but beyond that, nice arrangement. interesting stuff.
7:49 Uh..... hi... granny...
Granny pretends to be senile to not eat lunch, but thinks Link is her dead son.
Makes you wonder just what is going on with her.
Gotta keep the act going, you could be one of Anju’s spies.
3:37: "Madame Aroma will reward Link with a Bottle, instead of the Heart Piece of the EU/US version."
...were there changes made to subsequent EU/US versions like there was with OoT? I've always gotten the bottle of Chateau Romani when I delivered the Priority Mail directly to her, never a Heart Piece. I always try to get this part of the Couples Mask quest done before going to Great Bay so I'll have more bottles to transport eggs with
@Sarah H, that seems to be the general consensus among most people here, I don't know where the heart piece came from.
Just when I thought I couldn't have MORE sympathy for Anju 🤣 oh poor thing I can relate 🤣🤦♀️💁♀️
Nice video. So much I still do not know about this game!
I find it insane that nintendo was able to make this game in a little more than a year, reused assets and engine aside.
A secret for a part 14 video, there is a alternate opening cutscene starting on romani ranch, after the game start and before normal cutscene play, press any button two times to go to the file select, then just press B to go back and the altenate opening cutscene plays.
ua-cam.com/video/3dwJk99iYFI/v-deo.html
sorry what? press any button two times to go to file select??
@@KairuHakubi They're talking about when you first turn the game on. Nintendo logo, title, A(x2), and B to go back to the title
@@Hourglass36 ohh it plays on the title screen. Sorry, it sounded like he was saying "as you enter romani ranch, before the cutscene plays, press.." and i'm like what
so, backing out of the file select screen back to the title gives you an alternate intro scene to the ranch? that's hella cool.
@@KairuHakubi It also happens if you leave the game on the title screen long enough, it cycles between the two opening cutsenes
I miss how Zelda games back in the day had dark aspects in games every detail in the media will be chilling to understand. A link to the past when he turns to a bunny, I find that both creepy and surprise. Also, I want to mention why the moon has a angry face and if I remember it might be the angry sun from SMB3.
That second one was such a flex lmao
Granny was just like oh hell nah gotta act again
what if you did the forth day glitch then how far would mikau be then
I enjoy these videos so much. Thank you for making them.
Oh, I didn't realize tht giant Like Like thign tht you could take a picture of, I bet you would get something special for it from the photo man.
A useful trivia, the balloon blocking the entrance to the astral observatory, you can pop it with a pot placed near it. useful for ramdomisers
number 2 has got to be the craziest of them all....
A curiosity that almost nobody knows and is used in randomizer in very extreme cases: solar switches can be activated using spring water,
I mean you can invert the stone tower temple using the spring water, the problem you must use the hover bomb glitch and throw the spring water from a great height on the solar switch
So that was what Anju was doing! I thought she was bringing food to a guest! She is cooking and feeding her granny!
this channel has the coolest intro on youtube lol
2:27 that was the biggest plot twist i've ever seen
Idk if someone commented this before but the Romani Ranch cut scene was actually supposed to be longer. They cut it for some reason
There is a scene that not many know Where anju is sweeping on the last day.
Yep, it's after you meet with Kafei, but haven't given her the Pendant of Memories yet.
When Anju has the tray with food on her hands, doesn't that steam animation look weirdly familiar to the Hot Air Animation on PilotWings64 for the hang glider? Maybe it's the same but downsized? Anyone care to comment?
#2 was kinda out of place for this video
As someone else said, you could make a series about reshooting cutscenes
Why does the camera sequence at 1:40 feel like the intro cinematic to a Hyrule Warriors level
I got one. I'm replaying it and I just found out that the longer you take to bring mikau to the shore, the further he drifts away in the sea. Each day, his body gets more far away in the sea
Brooo that cutscene intro edit 🤌🤌🤌
This isn't exactly "secret" but not a lot of players know about it.
In the pictograph photo contest you will get unique dialogue and reward when turning in a picture of a Big Octo.
You can actually complete a heart container as Deku Link within the 1st 3 day cycle. You can obtain these 4 heart pieces in Clock Town as Deku Link during this cycle.
The 1st one can be obtained on the Clock Tower deck after trading the Moon’s Tear.
The 2nd one can be obtained by winning the postman’s game on nights 1 and 2.
The 3rd one can be obtained by trading the title deed at the inn after midnight.
The 4th one can be obtained by winning the Deku Playground game 3 times each day.
...and on the fourth day....well lets just say those seagulls look a little plump
😭
It's kinda grim knowing that Mikau can survive another day or 2 of you just don't take him out of the water. You essentially kill him when you "rescue" him. You could theoretically leave him in the water and call upon other Zora for medical attention.
some cool things indeed, never knew anju cooked
hey, can you do a vid of how tall ganondorf is and how tall ganondorf's horses are in each of the games?
that will be really neat to see and i like those little bits of extra info
I just assumed the reason why Granny skips Anju's lunch is because she doesn't like her cooking.
I was today years old when I realized that Anju's grandmother has very thick eyelashes and not completely black eyes.
