I had the Striker when it came out. LOVED that car back in the day and had it all souped up. Used to clean yards as a kid and save up for my cars. Had so many Tamiya cars, brings back great memories from childhood years 🤣🤣

The striker was my first real rc car I used it every weekend for months ,then stripped it down and cleaned it up after every use ,the sonic fighter was my kit number 4 ,I now have two, one shelf queen and a very good condition modified runner ,my striker has been put to stud now, not much of the original car remains it has been restored with about 90% of new parts ,i will always have a soft spot for them, even after 25 + tamiya kits later.

I had the sonic fighter and yeah they aren't the most beautiful but I think of all the tamiya models I owned it was one of the most if not the mst fun car I drove, it flew so straight in the air, and yes eventually it broke at the front but from handeling I absolutly loved it.

I had a Sonic Fighter back in the day... Snapped 2 chassis's just behind the front shock mount.. until I found putting the chassis in hot water for a while softened it enough to take the knocks.. wish I still had it, along with my Madcap...

Been following your channel for a while. The Striker was my first and only RC and absolutely loved it. Really hoping for a Re-Re in 2020. I would buy one without hesitation, and do what I did before and upgrade to Oil shocks and have some fun alongside my sons Grasshopper 540.

Not exactly a Tamiya but my first RC Kit was a Futaba FX10 which is basically a Tamiya Striker with a better looking body. I still have it sitting on a shelf in a semi operational condition (needs electronics and a cleanup) but it’s drivable it’s missing the original body and wing the rear shocks have been changed out for Kyosho oil dampers and Tamiya front CVA type shocks so it’s not exactly original anymore the wheels are using the pin drive and vintage Trinity 2.0 dish wheels for a Losi Jrx2 come to think of it I believe the body was from my old Losi Pro Se, it was all stuff lying around when I put the car back together years ago (mid 90’s) for display. It’s since been joined by my Kyosho Lazer Zx a Tamiya FF01 Kyosho GP10 Mk1 and a Yokomo FF Special along with the old Futaba radios I’ve used throughout the years

I remember my friend had one. At my age, it was awesome, compared to the Hornet and Grasshopper, me and one other kid was running. Full independent suspension. Can remember it was quite bouncy in the front end, that maked it hard to corner at high speeds. Regarding their looks, yes they are not the typical buggy style, but I like that Tamiya actually making something that are not main stream. Buggies today are boring and looks the same all of them, to please a "homogenic" crowd. It is too common to mock the "weard" Not fair! :)

The Striker was miscast as an offroad buggy. It might have been popular if it was marketed as a rugged on-road car if they gave it cool on-road tires. The evidence of this is the Futaba FX-10, which some, myself included, consider a beautiful car that was a slightly upgraded Striker.
The Sonic Fighter was the Falcon’s ugly, and less-skilled sister.

i think that was on the box - TAMIYA STRIKER - its not that bad, maybe they should of had that on the wing, i agree with you on the sonic fighter in looks but not the striker sorry, i remember trying
to fix a mates striker after it had snapped in half and sadly this did not improve its looks lol
