i think I owned one back in 1982, back then i did not cared about the model, as long as it says marshall I tough they were all the same basically, that’s how stupid I was ….😂
800 wins here. Just has a good balance of everything. Better sub lows. Since that jcm800 appears to be from a combo theres a good chance it has the different cap I think on the mids pot iirc that cuts the mids a bit to give it more of a simulated 412 cab tone, to better match the open back cab they come in. That may be contributing to the differences in tone we hear.
The one being played is the head on the bottom right. But you are right about that other 800 chassis to the left. I removed one leg of that mid cap to bring some mids back. That one has 6550s and already sounds big so no need for the mid cap. That one is featured in some other videos but not this one
I love vids like this. I feel like all three share the KERANG DNA and it would be difficult to pick only one. BTW, my 2203 is also a "Marsnall" LOL! Thanks for posting, would love to see more comparisons like this.
I am super big on having a Marshall tone with low end thud, the 800 really did well, sadly I just bought a JCM2000 (2005 anniversary) and I can't get any thud out of it, even after re-tubing and bias, boss EQ etc, its driving me crazy, please if you have any suggestions let me know, maybe take it in for inspection I don't know (caps etc)... Nice playing by the way!
Hey Blake! This sounds killer! Are you using IRs here or speakers/mics? That's the most difference I've heard an 800 and Plexi I've heard online ever. Makes me wanna pick up a Plexi as well!
All the amps sound amazing! The JMP 2203 sounds like a purer version of the JCM800 without the fizz. The Plexi is the most different from the others sounding the way only a Plexi can sound with the signature swish and chirps. I think my least favorite is the JCM800. The JMP and Plexi are tied, but if I had to choose, it'd probably be the Plexi.
I like the plexi the best and it has a killer clean too. Id have either of them but I bought the mini plexi because all of these are too loud for anything...
i like the plexi best, then the jcm 800,then the jmp... but they are all 3 awsome amps, and probably have strengths all over the place..if i was a studio guy,i could justify having all 3,and a jtm 45,and a 1974,and a vox, fender tweed,etc..... they are all different colar crayons, made to serve the song, afterall!
Plexi. Its the growl that is just make you want to play more.
The JMP 2203 is the winner for me!
i think I owned one back in 1982, back then i did not cared about the model, as long as it says marshall I tough they were all the same basically, that’s how stupid I was ….😂
I think I prefer the 800, then the Plexi, then the JMP.
Nice job as usual, Blake!🤘🏻

@@blakemansfield2356 oh yeah my fault! didnt pay enough attention
Thanks Blake, I always like your playing. The tones are amazing. Thanks for sharing this.
That 800 is hard to beat🤟
Very cool Video Blake! love those Marshalls, I would take anyone of them! Killer tones, each one of them.

Marsnall's for the win!

Difficult to choose, I like them all 😉
Thanks Blake. Just the video I wanted to see.
lovely stuff. 2204 sounds killer here, they have different NFB to the 100W versions so sound a bit more aggressive
That 800 is juicy!

Plexi sounds the widest in my opinion, it's got all the hair on top, the 2204 JCM 800 has really great mids, love those too the most.
Nice comparison! All sound nice, but the 800 suits your style the best imo.

Why did you set the amps up in relatively low volume considering you were using a suhr reactive load?
That 800 is where it's at for me...
Please could you tell us more about tube brand, bias and transformer ?
I was list them in the order you played them 👌
I actually have a JMP 2204 & a JCM 800 2204. I prefer my JMP, but IMHO the JCM 800 sounds best here.
800 for me all day... Is this straight in?
I like the plexi the best and it has a killer clean too. Id have either of them but I bought the mini plexi because all of these are too loud for anything...
There's something I really like about the 50 water Marshalls
i like the plexi best, then the jcm 800,then the jmp... but they are all 3 awsome amps, and probably have strengths all over the place..if i was a studio guy,i could justify having all 3,and a jtm 45,and a 1974,and a vox, fender tweed,etc..... they are all different colar crayons, made to serve the song, afterall!
when is the reveal of the 60second battle coming?
It’s between the Plexi re-issue and the JCM 800.
On the first two riffs, JCM 800 all the way for me. On the last, C, I think the Plexi won that one.
800 sounds meanest to me, I like that.
Wow Marshall Heaven!
It good to practice with these kinds of amps less gain/compression.I hear my flaws better ha
Whichever is cheaper between the 2203 and the jcm800. Get that.
800 is still the one true King
All about the 800, but a properly boosted Plexi is hard to beat. Just has a certain feel.
800 2204 amazing
800 all the way
800 blew the others away easily IMO
Need an amp that does all 3.
I like my 2203 best in this video lol had to say it
800 just because it has just enough rain and balanced low mids
Sigh 100W vs 50w
plexi wins by far imo
