Synopsis: STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY: Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Here's to 7 years of new worlds hopefully
They say its gonna be new adventures each week with continuing character arcs, so that makes me happy to hear.
Discovery. Barely ok
Lower Decks. Unwatchable. When did cartoons become martial arts and only screaming?
Picard. OK.
Kelvin reboot. Ok. Wish it had less ramped up parts and more stories. ST is ST when it tells a story.
Hope this is good. With this current group of these streaming shows, they have lost what Gene envisioned. Gene would slap them silly for Lower Decks. The original cartoon was far better
@@tpl608 When you get past the first few episodes and the too harsh a focus on being an adult cartoon, Lower decks is actually the closest to what trek used to be, but you are entitled to your opinion, wrong as it is.

They better get this right. I miss standalone episodes like the original series. They were in orbit around a new planet each week.
All the latest Star Trek episodes have been done really well, they seem to have the right formula going on.

@@carllanger8873 To be fair though, season 2 of Picard is starting off really well. Not a return to form, but still very exciting and enjoyable to watch - so far. But TOS, STNG, DS9, Voyager and even Enterprise are all way ahead of STD and Picard. We need to get back to the level of quality and writing that those shows had.
@@vgnvideogameninja2930 I agree, the second season of Picard is very promising. I like what I'm seeing fo far. Also, I think the first seasons of DS9 and Voyager weren't all that good either; they got a lot better in the later seasons.
@@vgnvideogameninja2930 for that it would need to be written by competent writers. Which has not been the case so far (STD and STP seem to have been written by children).
The Cage, was made in 1964. Here we are nearly 60 years later and the show is finally ready to air. RIP Gene and all the cast and crew of that original pilot that have passed away - your show is almost ready to premiere!

Pretty excited for this one, self-contained episodes just like old Trek, as opposed to the season long arcs of new Trek. Plus Anson Mount was fantastic in the role of Pike in Discovery season 2.
Anson Mount is just fantastic Hell on Wheels was incredible and he is down to earth this has potential to be the best thing for Trek in decades
I haven't been excited about a new ST show since Next Gen. This looks amazing :)
I've enjoyed Discovery and Picard so I have high hopes for this one. Didn't get round to lower decks as I'm not a fan of animated series. I'm *really* looking forward to disconnected seasons again, while I do like the occasional seasonal storyline, I miss the older styles of seasons in Tos, Voy, TNG and DS9.
Before the Disc haters start raging, I don't care about your opinion, I enjoy it and that's good enough for me.
@gtoss chddy That tech would of been the norm. The only reason Star Trek TOS looked like it did was cause they literally had no clue what even 10-20 years in the future would look like. We have touch screen and to a point holographic touch screens right now being used and worked on. Discover is more accurate a representation of the actual tech.
@gtoss chddy would u really wana see in a modern time old buttons and beeping like in TOS? actually i think the Tech how its shown in Discovery at beginning is pretty accurate. cause its more modern than Enterprise. Honeslty no one would ever watch star trek if it where made again like in the 60s
I grew up with Star Trek, watching it with my mom, love all Trek except for Star Trek Enterprise. Discovery is great I don't care what haters say.

@John Bryer it’s akiva goldsman I believe who is the best Star Trek executive producer rn , he and Picard’s new show runner terry matalas are responsible for that brilliant Picard season 2 episode 1

The pacing, action and storyline of Picard Season 2 is very good so far, I have very good hopes for Strange New Worlds to meet or exceed. Provided they use the best writers and honor what has gone before!
Strange New Worlds is going back to the episodic format so don't expect massive multi-episode storylines

Yep, Picard season 2 is really good, it's only been two episodes so far but the acting and the intrigue have been far above that of season 1. Seeing guest appearances like John de Lancie as Q that everyone saw in the trailer but especially the totally unexpected return of Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan brought tears to my eyes. The Borg Queen design is fantastic, both the classic Borg Queen reminiscent of Voyager and the new one we saw in episode 1. I feel really positive about this season, let's hope they don't screw it up half way through.

I Really Hope they can Do justice to the Classic Series and to its Legendary Creators and to capture some of the Vision and essence of the Series because it was Really Lost in the Last couple of Decades.Especially the Last couple of Series especially really did not have much to do with Star Trek as we knew it.I Really Hope they Deliver and do their Best both in Direction stories and all the Actors involved to make something with enough passion so people New and old generations will come to Love this once again ! So far from this little Teaser Trailer it Looks PROMISING

I do wish it looked a bit more like TOS. "Rogue One" and "The Mandalorian" did a good job of giving us something modern that still looked like it fit with the original Star Wars trilogy. There's no reason the same can't be done with Star Trek.

Nice to see a series set on the Enterprise again, but i wish they would stop makeing prequels about the Enterprise and make it a next next generation series about the Enterprise, that is what i have been wanting for before Archer's Enterprise came out and i still haven't got it, so this will have to do, ugh.

@@antoniusfilipus7855 Never heard about that one, the Enterprise that looks like a skinny insect from the far future about the Sphere builders that Daniel's took Archer to would be good, but yeh whatever as long as it's a next next generation Enterprise all the excitement all over again.

For all of you excited about this, I hope it works for you. Myself, I have been waiting for a Star Trek that is both refreshing while staying true to its space exploratory roots since the air date of 6/18/1990.

The dumb thing is why is the tech still ahead of what it should be? Can we not just make shows set after the most recent events?
Looking forward to this very much . Discovery was ok but the common thread during particularly the last season was Burnham coming up against an insurmountable problem then finding a solution at the last minute , did anyone really think Book was going to die ? 🙄, ..Picard is little more cerebral and I really enjoy every episode . Can’t wait for Strange New Worlds…
Sad that it's only a limited series - but cannot wait!
If ratings hold up, maybe it will be on for a few seasons. Let's hope. A lot of fans want to make sure they get it right!

Im excited to watch this especially after finishing star trek discovery, knowing that time line when discovery traveled 900 years to the future with Michael burnham saving the world’s while her brother spock at the same time with different time line starting exploring new worlds with uss enterprise..
It is mixed up feelings .. this show has to be something remarkable we should see something never seen before, not only normal star trek episodes meeting new species as we knew already, im expecting something huge like for example they should be involved with something will affect the future or time line or anything like that..
Hope we can see something huge in this show🖖🏼

@Kay Challis There's a certain type of "fan" that needs to believe Star Trek is actually a documentary series. They'll tell themselves that the spandex suits were upgraded to be space proof just before the pilot episode.
So in a world of Dilithium and Matter/ Antimatter Cores is still need of Wind Energy. Thats not what I thought it is going to be. ;-)

I'll be happy if it's a show that's tonally about exploration and the drive for peace and diplomacy and stuff. I know lots of people like STD and Picard and that's cool, but the darker tones, more war and conflict focused storylines aren't enjoyable for me personally. There's enough of that going on in the world anyway. Also hoping for a more episodic format. Which, I don't think is entirely nostalgia driven on my part, I just feel it makes the galaxy of the show feel larger if every week/episode it's a new place, new culture, new problem, new solution.

If you want some more, the voyager relaunch novels are pretty damn good, they continue the story beyond the show.

I want to be excited about this show. But I'm annoyed that a prequel has tech from later series. I mean the Enterprise looks more like the refit version than the original. Are you going forward or backwards? Make up your mind. The only way I could see this as feasible is if it's in the Kelvin timeline. Again, I want to be excited about the series, but like Discovery, seeing that tech in an earlier time is annoying.
That shouldnt be a dealbreaker if the quality of the show is good. Would you rather woke star trek that follows the tech but is of terrible quality or good quality star trek that maybe has new tech?
We have already seen what the bridge of the Enterprise looks like when this ship showed up in Discovery Season 2. They used some of the original designs like the red railing on the bridge and captain seat shape and turbolift handles, and accents of colored lights around bridges consols. Adding some modern production value is acceptable as far as I am concerned. They are not going to use dated 1960s set styles. And improving on Next Gen production sets, well that is a sign of the times and they are putting a lot of money into each episode so why not. This updates it to this decade of production. Stories and characters are more important to get right.
Hope st phase 2 also come back 😄

Doesn't look like its set pre TOS. Looks like the 25th century. If they do not respect continuity canon, then it is not Star Trek. It might as well feature Jedi and Sith.
Stop pretending like this fits any better into Star Wars than into Star Trek, this is clearly meant to be part of Battlestar Galactica!
