- Yes, Luke TheNotable, the UA-camr well-known for his Hardcore Minecraft videos where he plays for 100 days.
After having milked this trend with 1000 Days Hardcore Minecraft and even 2000 days, he has fallen victim to his own ego.
Luke TheNotable has registered to trademark the "100 Days" format, similar to how The Fine Bros tried to trademark "Reactions".
He has also been intimidating other UA-camrs privately to keep the trend for himself. So in this video, we expose Luke TheNotable for his negative behaviour on the platform.

Ok ok, calm down in the comments.
I know 90% of the dislikes are beacuse Luke TheNotable has already apologised,
But this video was made before he did so. This commentary was never here to warrant hate, but to comment on the situation as it stood.
This video should serve as a reminder as to what he did.
His apology was definitely in the right place, but I'm just saying, its important to maintain this commentary's integrity to understand both sides of the story.
Thank you to any LTN fans who could realise I was reporting on a developing story in a civil manner. He apologised, but there is such thing as "this video was before that fact".
Yeah sorry about that. The intention was to get more awareness on this issue, so I did make the video more capable of reaching a wide audience. But that was more so people could get onto the situation and try to make LTN realise his mistake. Good thing is he realised it in the end from all the backlash, not just my own video :-)

The difference between this as the Fine Bros is that Luke really did invent the format of 100 Days. Nobody else had this idea before him. There were literally thousands of react videos all over the internet prior to the Fine Bros channel.

Just because it's not titled as a generic "100 days" that doesn't mean its fair game for a trademark. There is no defendable stance here, you cannot justify trademarking something so common especially with an old concept

Does every human take actions comparable to his because of their ego? I don't think you can just wave it all away as one thing lol. Like, most people don't, because of their ego, attempt to register US trademarks on simple, general concepts as if they're original ideas in order to personally profit while actively stopping other people from doing the same. Every human does not go through anything like that, in fact the vast majority don't.
It's fine that he apologized, but it was obviously something he had to have thought about to begin with - applying for a trademark isn't something you like, accidentally do. He definitely tried to trademark "100 Days" and be the only creator allowed to use it, and apologized when it didn't pan out and he started getting negative attention. Not the MOST convincing type of apology, if I'm honest. Sounds like he's sorry things didn't work out as planned.

i kinda get it. i love the 100 days series and i also understand that he could be frustrated that people are taking his idea and making either more money off of his idea and not giving him any credit. but that still doesn’t give him the right to just take money from creators and also not allow creators to create. as an artist, i understand both sides, it sucks to see your art or idea being stolen, but it’s also amazing seeing what others make off of the idea. idk just my take on it!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, I think the guy making this video needs to tone it down and put himself in Luke's shoes. The person who made this video is also using the term "ego" incorrectly. Luke isn't trademarking this because it makes him think he's better, it's because he doesn't like it when people leech off of his idea. I'm fine if it has a creative twist, but some people just re hashed his 100 days in hardcore video.
Yeah to be fair, Luke has put countless days and nights into creating these 1+ hour vids, and pumping out genuinely good and entertaining content with a unique idea THAT HE POPULARIZED, then everyone just copied it with low effort and got hella views. Late to the party, everything's been said in the comments, but I'll add that it was inherently a really weak strategy if he wanted to monopolize the trend lol. What, did he think if ForgeLabs started doing "I Spent 99 Days In Hardcore Minecraft" videos instead, all of his fans would just immediately move over to Luke's channel instead because of a 1 day difference?
It was never going to give him the control he wanted, AND now he's exposed something about his character that many people don't like. I'd say it's sad, but he made his bed. I'm big on the free exchange of art and ideas. Those things always evolve much more through being shared across and between more people and more cultures than they do through the works of any single creator or thinker. We are always better together than alone.

That's like if the first person to ever write a horror novel stopped everyone else from doing the same. People shouldn't own ideas regardless of how ground breaking that is. Recently Disney has been reported to try and trademark everything related to Loki both in mythology and fan art. If you hold for ransom an idea through monetary gate keeping that'll just hold back creativity as a whole and make you a one hit wonder rather than someone that has influenced the creative space, because you can bet someone will have a better idea than you at some point and won't stop other people from taking inspiration from them. I feel like this comes from the very toxic idea that we can put capitalist ideals into creativity, also not unlike how Disney does it.

Well the content is different the format is what people are using the 100 days or drops so that’s why this is wrong on his part and his apology was just him trying to save something as it’s him acting like it was a impulse action even though he did over a month

Honestly the spin offs of the 100 days are much more entertaining than just “vanilla” Minecraft
yeah! I've been enjoying some of the modded spin-offs, and some other UA-camrs just have more energy than LTN, not to diss Luke tho, cos his chill style works for people too
