Out standing Chad , I started carving about a year and a half ago , I have learned so much from your videos, thank you for sharing your talent with all of us I can't wait for your videos each week, and as always looking forward to the next , Take care .
Alberta boy says. ....I just gave to my Stilh Chainsaw dealer friend my 1st standing Bald eagle ,my rendition. ...1/10 as good as yours...heads to big...talons not equal...BUT I'm happy,he's impressed. ..and as a result....its on display at the store.....how happy does that make me....learning everyday ! But it's -19°C ( ~0° F) And only 7.5 hrs of light up here in Central Alberta....so not much learning !
So realistic looking! You make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing, and letting us all see your awesome talents. Can't wait to see what becomes of all the new logs!
Appreciate all you do. Your work has got me rolling. During quarantine I've had time to start this journey.....your work is amazing. Great job and a sincere thank you.
Wish I had some of Chad's talent. He makes carving that eagle look easy! Maybe you get that skill after carving a few thousand things? I hope so! Thanks for the great videos! 👍👍
Great job, when you carve a flying eagle landing on a stump how do decide how long to make the wings. In one of your videos you carved them separate and attached them to the eagle
Nice work! That eagle is one of the best I’ve seen so far- especially the head. I think the the shape and eagle eye glare just right. I’m curious what you were painting on about 17:40? Do use black for the body or a very dark brown? Thanks for the vid.
Thank you very much! I was painting from a piece of cardboard at 17:40 and I use black for the body and hilight the feathers with a tan color. Thanks for watching the video!!!
Nice logs Chad, they look great in front of your nicely fenced in carving area. Also, the privacy fence helped a lot with the road noise. Not sure how loud the road is in your house, but I recommend getting your house insulated by Retrofoam. We are right on a business route, and it knocked out 75-80% of the noise. Can’t wait to see the heating bills this winter! Last but not least, yet again, an other awesome carving, good job Chad.
Thanks for watching Eric! Inside our house we can barely hear traffic at all. The house is extremely well insulated, it even is double drywalled and the exterior walls are 10" thick. Thanks again Eric!
Man you are great I hope to be able to do all that you do some day. About to have my shop done and iam going to start building and craving. Tks for all the inspiration.
Hey Chad. Great work. You make it look easy. Couple questions- what type of wood are you using and what are you using for the eagle eyes? Thank you and I hope you are well.
@@michaellemoine9662 I mainly use white pine. The eyes are a company that makes stuffed animal eyes. Can't remember what the co. Is called, I'm sure you could google it. Thanks for watching the video!!
This was a good one. Love eagle craving, and your is way up there. Thanks for your videos. Love them. If I'm ever in your area going to check you out and pick your brain.
Great video , so excited to start carving myself . Any suggestions where I can get logs and what kind of logs I should be looking for ? Located in Modesto California, Thank you !
Hi Michael, my favorite kind of wood to carve is white pine and white cedar. Basically any pine or softer wood Is great for carving. If you can find green fresh cut wood it makes it easier yet to carve. I carve green wood when it's available and let it dry out, out of the sun because the sun will dry the wood to fast and cause more cracking. Thank you for watching the videos and subscribing!!
Are those UP logs ? They look 👀 like they have been cut for a while , do you $ by the foot or by the lb nice load , great job on the eagle the paint 🎨 job takes it to the next level 👌🤩
So was the firing of the wood nescessary or did you have a change of mind on the finish for this one. It seems you torched it, sanded off but then went for a paint finish?
Awesome! thanks for sharing your skills! Question: Do you wait for the white pine logs to dry before carving it? or you carve it green and hope it will not crack too much?
Hi chad just love your work, just beautiful.i.have a question on your eagle carving what kind of paint you used in painting the head and body after you burned it. I’am started to do my own chain saw carving and I’ve learned lots from you shows. Thanks Rick.👍
Hi Chad, I’ve carved 3 wolves so far trying to follow your videos. I’m working on an eagle now! Thank you for showing me how! What would I expect to pay for a log delivered like this?

hi Chad, awesome carve , you inspire me a lot. Btw do you put the wood fences all around your work square? And last question is how do you get all this wood ? You pay for it' and is this legal to hervest big wood leafs in your town/city? I wonder how in The United States so much wood is available for wood workers and to be hervested so easy like all of you do for their personal use and business or hobby. greetings from Italy- ciao
Hi Humbert, the fence is so the traffic is not a distraction for the videos. The state I live in has s lot of trees. I can cut my own from my own property or tree company's are always look for somewhere to dump wood. It's all over in michigan. Thanks for watching!

Well that’s sweet. Never heard of double drywall, I bet that makes a huge difference on both noise and heating, along with the extra insulation.
Great work, how do you keep your carvings from splitting or cracking?
It's impossible to keep them from cracking. Thanks for watching the video!
Eagle looks awesome Chad ! Keep up the nice work man .
Thanks Kyle, I still have to watch your lion video. The thumb nail looks awesome!
Chainsaw Chad you’re welcome man . Yeah the most recent one I think I like the most .
Awesome!

I'm curious as to the purpose of burning/charing if you eventually paint over it?
It burns all the fuzz off and makes it smoother. It also burns the bar oil from the chainsaw off. Thanks for watching and subscribing!!
Oh, makes sense.... Awesome art! ty

They actually are not UP. logs. I mentioned in the video they are from a local tree co. I paid by the load. Thanks for always watching!!
Mighty fine Bird!!!!! After painting it what were you putting on the with the brush from that piece of Cardboard?
It was a light brown paint and I was dry brushing it on very thin. Thanks for watching week after week!!
So was the firing of the wood nescessary or did you have a change of mind on the finish for this one. It seems you torched it, sanded off but then went for a paint finish?
The burning stiffens the wood fuzz so it's easier to sand. It also burns the bar oil from the chainsaw.
@@Chainsawchad Thank you Sir, Just watched your creepy doll video, As usual top work. More of it.
Magnifique 🙏❤️
Awesome! thanks for sharing your skills!
Question: Do you wait for the white pine logs to dry before carving it? or you carve it green and hope it will not crack too much?
I usually carve them green and then dry them before finishing. Even if the log is dried out before I carve it, it will still crack.
