Good stuff!! But dont be afraid to go for anatomy. Birds and humans are very similar. Pectoralis, neckmuscles and armpits. I mean you did great but missed out on a lot of fun. Legs of birds essentially have trousers which stops like bermudashorts and out come the claws. Anyway great upload!! Thx.
Chad, you are amazing! Once more I'm astounded! Was thinking I liked it better unfinished, but once you colored it, was almost real!!! Consider your hand shaked!
Hi Chad, I am a new subscriber to your channel. You make carving look sooo easy!! You are crazy talented!! I am a timber faller on the west coast, and I have recently been doing a few small projects for family gifts. I have been using western red cedar but im not a huge fan of the color and am thinking about trying a different kind of wood. Do you have any recommendations on the best type of wood to use out here on the West Coast? I was thinking about trying white pine or lodgepole. Also I haven't bought a carving bar yet but am considering it. Is it really necessary? They seem really nice. Also maybe some videos on how you got started and the tools/wood you use would be super cool!!! Thanks! -Zack
Hi Zachary, first of all thank you for watching the videos and subscribing. A timber Faller from the West coast, that is awesome!!! I love to carve white pine it's my favorite wood to use other than white cedar. A carving bar Will help the kick back is next to nothing and it's great for small areas. I carved with a regular bar and chain for my first year then bought a carving bar and it was well worth it. Thanks again!!!
Hi Chad, another brilliant job, its stunning. I have a question if possible please, as a newbie to chainsaw carving is the long vertical cut in the eagles front to control potential cracking ? Thanks
The log I used for the eagle was a very dry log and the crack was already there so I could place it where ever I want. I usually put a cut for sure in the base.
Another awesome job, I am not one for birds. But you do such a great job on them. I no I am going to try some now after seeing this video. Can't wait. Lol Thanks Chad
Cool idea with the wings! I carved my first eagle sitting on a stump, would it be easier to carve one with his wings up landing on a stump or a flying eagle like the two you carved out of one log last week? Stunning eagle! Thanks
Fine work with the chain saw...even trimming down those insert ends to fit. I would have to use a sander and likely would take too much off. Gorilla glue and saw dust? Do you need that much as G G expands?
