    Personally, I think shoving 6 ads down someone's throat the moment they click on someone's stream to check them out turns people away. It's personally why I stopped going to Twitch and just wait for UA-cam uploads. Yesterday I checked out twitch and it was annoying trying to find people to watch because whenever I clicked on something, I had to sit through like 3 minutes of ads. What really ticked me off is I accidentally clicked off a stream right after watching the ads, immediately went back to the stream, and then I had to watch a bunch of ads AGAIN. If I really want to watch live streams, I just stick to UA-cam. There's gotta be a better way to do ads.

    • @LordAnorak
      @LordAnorak 6 днів тому

      That's pre-roll ads, something affiliates and partners have control over happening. They need to play a total of 3 minutes of ads per hour to not have pre-roll ads play. PirateSoftware does 2 minutes of ads every 30 minutes to meet that requirement and as such, he doesn't have pre-roll ads. The smart streamers do similar.

    I rarely rarely watch streams but I had noticed on the very few occasions in the last few times I have popped in to the stream, anytime any streamer said ads are running, nothing would happen on my end. I wouldn't even get the blue screen.
    Just an observation.

    • @CrustedPork
      @CrustedPork 6 днів тому

      Well you are lying. Because it came out a few hours ago that this isn't even a thing. And only streamers who make sexual content (most girls) and people with the political tag (or talking about them) would have no ads run. This was proven across multiple streamers already literally hours ago.
      The ads have gone no where. Unless you are one of those streamers in particular, or were watching one of them. Then sure, you most certainly got less ads. But if you were watching a normal creator, you got the same amount as usual. Or maybe the last time you watched one, that streamer had a minimum watch time requirement before ads. You can setup a timer so that when someone first comes into the stream, they don't get ads for a set amount of time. This prevents them from getting hit with pre-rolls and then right after get hit with another 2-3 minutes of ads.
      So if the one you watched wasn't talking politics or isn't a egirl, they might've had that setup instead. Because again, it was already confirmed that the adpocalypse is not real. Unfortunately Flats likely made this reaction last night or super early today, so he didn't get that piece of the news. He's always super late to the party.

    This is all so odd to me from a consumer standpoint. How many consumers watching twitch and youtube ACTUALLY care about ads or interact with them in any shape or form? this might be just coming from a ignorant viewpoint, but I particularly despise ads. Rarely do they ever actually get me to look something up or buy something or even just put an idea in my mind to think about it later on, because there's just SO much ads EVERYWHERE. I am confused as to why anyone would even notice or care if an ad was next to hateful content because most (?) people just automatically disregard the ad or have the critical thinking skills to know the ad has nothing to do with the content.

      Twitch moderation has majority of the fault at the end of the day. They let the problem fester for a while. They deliberately avoided banning certain creators even when they clearly broke TOS and even federal law.
      If they handed out severe bans to bad actors like Hasan and Co, they would have either toned down the rhetoric or just get perma. At the end of the day this problem started from favoritism and political partisanship.

Asmon and his vendetta against Twitch for not being treated like people issuing death threats or racism was just what got the media and advertisers involved. This was going to happen, sooner rather than later. The advertisers did not give two shits until it became known in wider media that this crap as happening and want to protect their image. Simple as.

    Few hours before this upload, it was confirmed by multiple streamers that there is NO adpocalypse. And that all the streams that had limited/no ads were (or had) the political tag or were talking about politics at the time. (And same applies to sexual content creators)
    So flats reacts to this video, uploads his own, but at this point it's completely outdated and wrong on multiple points. This is why taking time to learn about the drama and letting all info come to light before reacting or making a video on things is crucial and important.
