Initial thoughts when I used the Pixel 3.
      -Screen is more vibrant
-Speakers are more rich and louder. You'll be blown away if you compare them side by side

There is not really much of an upgrade to be honest, most of the "upgrades" are not needed gimmicks that only enthusiasts pay attention to, like 0.2ms faster app opening time and a couple of somewhat useful camera features. You are essentially spending 400 dls with the trade in program to get a couple of camera features and some QoL enhancements.

My friend has the Pixel 3 and he wishes he got the XL, and I'm very happy with the XL and don't understand why people feel the need to hate notches. strongly disagree. the 3xl comes with upgrades because of it's size (one example: the battery which, in turn, gives you more usage out of the phone everyday). the only thing people actually have the right to hate about the 3xl are the hardware design choices google made and to be honest i can understand although i love the design. everyone is entitled to their own opinion in terms of the design mainly because they can hate it or like it if they want without needing facts to back them up.

Ive pulled some specs from google and it seems that the screen is very dim(430 nits), just as the Pixel 2(410 nits).
    Is that ture?
Because thats one annoyance with my Pixel 2, it isnt really usable on bright days.
We had a pretty intense summer in Germany(the hottest and driest we've had since a 100 years), so had some issues more often than not.

After seeing the over priced phones of 2018, I'm even more satisfied and loving my Note 9, I know it's expensive too but at least I don't feel I've been hacked, the ONLY thing I can think about that could have a complain are the Android updates. I'm not willing to trade off so many great things of the Note 9 for that reason. Best Note ever.

If you just want one phone, is a great option, 3 years of updates is something that many manufacturers are not doing. For me, I will keep using several phones. If I want the latest Android, I get a more recent phone. I have several mid-range phones that works good for my daily usage, the investment is lower, I can get several phones. For me that's the best option, I get tire, I witch to another phone in my collection every 2 or 3 months. That notch is horrible, but hidden... Is a normal, more acceptable Pixel.

    • @Scott13131

Orlando Why? Leaving iOS aside and only specifically talking Android, why are the OS updates so necessary? I’m not talking about the security updates. Those of course should be done in a timely manner. Personally, it seems that Samsung has done a much better job with those, at least with my Note 8.
My issue is going from Nougat to Oreo to Pie....etc. Most phones I’ve owned (personally I’ve been a huge Note fan, but have owned other branded phones) already have all or most of the newer OS features on the phone. Samsung and LG, maybe even others, had PIP for a long time before it was included in I think Nougat (could’ve been another OS, but that’s my point, never cared because I already had it). I honestly could careless when Pie is coming to my Note 8. What will it bring?
I know when I got Oreo (which I do like), it ruined my sideload of S Note app with Action Memo, Photo Note, Easy Chart, Idea Sketch, Scrapbook, etc. I finally got it all back, but Easy Chart still won’t install with Oreo.
Lastly, it’s not always the most advantageous thing to have the most current OS on your phone. I don’t care whether it Apple or Android. Each phone is optimized based on whatever OS is current and as the new OS come out, they could have an adverse effect and make your phone run worse. I try to always wait before I update to see what others experience.
Bottom line, I would love someone to explain to me why the quicker updates are so important? Remember, I’m not talking about the security updates....that’s a no brainer.

Pixel all the way, camera, speed, stability, screen, and software. You don't need 512gb of storage on your phone. Plus google backs up all your photos and videos for you. Going without the headphones jack isn't a big deal, especially with the headphones google put in the box and the camera is really worth it.

I’m disappointed in a lot of the reviewers mentioning that they hide the notch or just go ahead and hide the notch where it’s meant to be for developers. For how much you are paying for that phone it is silly you have to go and do that and loose that much screen real estate. I do agree however that you do get used to notches on phones, e.g. iPhone max
As for photos I’m with Erica! From what I have seen Google has learned their lesson from last yr in video recording :(
