  • By request, a subscriber asked if I would show how I build the containers I put my eggsacks in after I pull them from the mother and open them. Here it is:)

    Interesting stuff !! I was going to suggest that if you are making a lot of holes in containers, you should buy a Dremel Rotary tool with a little drill bit set. I use mine to drill my holes and it's a simple "zing, zing, zing" and soon you have 20 holes made in a minute. You can also use a hobby knife with a #11 blade that is "very" sharp and pointy to make very tiny holes but the Dremel is the best. You can buy cheaper ones than a Dremel. I own one because I build very precise models of cars and always use it. You look pretty as usual. Cheers, Brian

      +flashy5150 I used my Dremel so much, I burned it up LOL. I also use a solder gun to burn holes, but the hole maker is the cheapest item you can get to make holes and has the ability to make both large and small holes,. Thank you for mentioning it, it is a great idea:)

    • @flashy5150

      Marita De La Pena Soldering guns make a bad stentch that is cancer causing, I wouldn't advise it. Burning plastic is brutal to the lungs, and the brain. I hope what you have is good for you. Cheers

      I don't know that it is quite that caustic, but it does smell bad. Did you know that steak has carcinogens in it? I have been using it for 20 years and no side effects I can attribute to it.

    • @flashy5150
      @flashy5150 9 років тому

      Marita De La Pena No wonder I don't eat steak that much and when I do, I don't feel that well lol. A lot of the carcinogens in meat happens when it's being barbecued, and it hides in that crispy,burnt part on the outside of the meat. A lot of cancers start when we get over 40 years old, I'm 44 and I never had problems with my stomach until I was 36. I woke up one night and thought I was having a heart attack, and it was severe acid reflux. My stomach has never been the same and I used to be able to eat or drink anything. I would just stay away from the fumes of burning plastic or rubber, it's not good for you at all. Like I said, what doesn't hurt you know will hurt you later, when your immune system slows down, over 40. You'll know what I mean when you hit 40, believe me. Everything that you've done bad to yourself early in life will come back to haunt you. I just don't want to see you ingesting those chemicals and I'm happy that you're using the tool that Alan gave you instead of a soldering iron. Cheers

    Do you put the incubator into something bigger to keep heat up? For instance Dave puts the incubators into a bigger incubator made out of wood and sliding glass with a heat mat on the back

    • @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG
      @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG  Рік тому +1

      We use an incubator to keep the eggsack temps stable. They eggsacks themselves are in their own container with either vermiculite or floating over water if hatched.

    What would be a good commercial incubation chamber in your opinion for tarantula eggs? Would the exo terra reptile mini fridge type ones be any good?

    Great vid! Thanks very much :) is the plastic ring you used a cut out from another deli cup? Also if you incubate like this do you open the sac and do you have to rotate the eggs at all?

    • @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG
      @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG  6 років тому

      Thank you! Yes, it is from another deli cup. Once the eggs are out of the sac, I no longer rotate them.

    hey I have a question. we keep our room pretty warm our Ts are in our closet. we basically designated the closet to them. lol. how could I keep the area warmer for the eggs? would it be a bad idea to keep a heat pad in the closet not directly on them but just to keep the closet warmer without heating our whole room. help! I'm a super noob

    • @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG
      @MaritaDeLaPenaDTG  7 років тому

      The easiest way is if you can keep he closet a stable 75-78 degrees F. Then you can incubate the eggs at that temp or get an inexpensive incubator (hovabator) and keep that at a 78-82 degree temp. I hope this helps:)
