- The summer of 2018 set off a firestorm in the Catholic Church, with bishops, priests, scholars, religious orders, the laity and victims groups working to address the clergy sexual abuse scandal.
I can completely solve the RCC's problem about how to deal with child-molesting clergy. Just pass on any and all allegations to local law enforcement to investigate. Any criminal priest should be handled by professionals in the field, not theologians. Problem solved.

Everybody is ignorant of Roman Catholic Canon Law except its priests and the governments of the world. In Roman Catholic Canon Law, no government is legitimate (de jure) if it does not obey, serve, protect, support, and defend the Church. In Canon Law, the State (government) is the vassal of the church and must obey the Church. The State has no authority or jurisdiction over the Church, its lands and possessions, or its priests. The State only has whatever power that the Church gives it. In actual fact, to turn these pedophile priests over to the State is no different than turning them over to the Church. Any priest that is handed over to the State is handed over to a "friend of the church". If you think the State is going to provide a standard of justice higher than the church, you are mistaken. Any State given jurisdiction over these pedophile priests needs to be monitored morning noon and night to see that justice is rendered. Otherwise, the State will do whatever the Church demands and no justice will be had. That's Roman Catholic Canon Law.
Now they are destroying evidence and burning down churches and archaeological sites and libraries and altering medical and military records and stealing identities with hackers and identity thieves and stealing estates with the Mafia destroying the planet.

They are criminally negligent and should be jailed and should lose their parental rights and their children should be taken away from them and be adopted out to foster parents who will raise them in a safe environment far away from the priests and in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

this happens in other religions too,and sorrowfully within the actual family.l have met such problems in my voluntary work with the poor,and dispossessed, and the resulting problems are heartbreaking.Shame on the perpetrators,and those protecting these hideous happenings.

I've heard the word accountability many times in this broadcast. The only way the church can be accountable for what they have done, or not done on a local level is to pass on the information they undercover in their investigations over to the civil authorities,if they have found a priest has committed sexual assault. Kicking them out of the church is not enough. Your just sending them out into the community to offend again. I was a member of a diocese in Canada where two priests who were biological twins were convicted of sexual assault. I believe this was the first case in Canada. After their convictions a law suit was filed against the diocese who ended up paying 15 million dollars to the victims. You know who had to pay the money, It was the innocent parishioners of the diocese who had to pay. These are the people who were lied to by the church and had sexual predators being moved from one church to another from within their diocese. Why these people had to pay is beyond me. The Catholic church in Rome needs to take the responsible for paying the victims out of their coffers. In my opinion this is the only way the church will recover from this.
You and I differ greatly. The damages should be paid out of the coffers of Rome until it is totally and forever consumed, never to recover.

Every diocese needs to open every file they have on anyone who has even been mentioned to the public prosecutor and let them do an intensive forensic review. Then force the diocese to publish an accurate list of those who have credible allegations and those they intend to file criminal complaints against. Then and only then can the cult hope to brainwash these people again.

This is a very very old argument that has been dealt with. There is history of Icon, saint and Mary Veneration which is solidly biblically based with Church tradition. These issues have been dealt with through ecumenical councils. Look up Saint John the Arab and the second ecumenical council of Nicea recognized by Eastern Othordox, the Roman Catholics, the Anglican Communion and some other protestants. Please look it up.

Nothing compared to these abuse survivors but my grade school principal, Sister Editha, devil in the flesh, beat me routinely for six years simply because she enjoyed it and could get away with it. When I told my own mother she said you must have did something. Believed the devil in the flesh, and I was beaten harder, once to the point where I urinated blood. It seems to me that the abuse is not only continuing but actually getting worse. I no longer have anything to do with this horrible institution nothing whatsoever.

Yes . But our parents too refused to listen to us even if we had bruises and scars from the beatings. I have seen a nun lie to the parent’s faces when a girl’s head was smashed against the wall. The nun promptly told her father that she fell by accident. If it were the sisters or brothers they must be right. Same with school inspectors etc if it were the nuns or brothers they stayed away.
My younger brother came home fro school to say that one of the holy men was having a affair with a classmate’s mother. My father was enraged and he would have normally got out the stick for spreading lies about the holy men. And it turned out to be true.

My local church lost both our deacon and priest to this crime. I actually saw questionable things the deacon did, which I told someone, but nothing was done (although I was an adult, he tried to hit on me too).

I just saw this. My problem with the church is that they knew what was going on. These type of actions have been going on since the beginning of the faith. They know their history and just have looked the other way. Pope's have had children and had relationships where they lived a "married life" with their partners. Their religion has always been corrupt. If people say different I challenge you to pick up a history book and show me that I'm wrong.
That is what I personally think is really tragic that the (arch)bishop's many times only looked on and shoveled the perpetrators to other dioceses in even other countries. Neither the victims nor the perpetrators benefited from it. Unfortunately, I can't find any figures, but it seems that many who commit sexual abuse against minors have themselves been exposed to it in their young/younger years.

Completely disingenuous reporting that DELIBERATELY IGNORED the hundreds of laity under that big white tent next to the Marriott in Baltimore during the bishops’ meeting. National speakers voicing concerns and calling out the bishops for their role in covering up and even perpetuating criminal acts. Why would CNS deliberately ignore that huge crowd of laypeople who came from all over the country? This is supremely suspicious and casts a cloud of mistrust over this whole film. Who does CNS work for? The bishops? CNS also completely ignored laity protesting on the other street corners next to the Marriott. Why did it only talk to this one small group in the film and ignore the other hundreds a stone’s throw away? Extremely suspicious.

Roman Catholic Canon Law demands that the "State" is servant to the Church and that the "State" has no authority or jurisdiction but that which the Church gives it. The "State" is only de jure (legitimate) if it obeys and serves the Church. In reality, the "State" is the vassal of the Church. That's why, up til this point, the "State" has left these pedophile priests largely untouched. And even if the Church now allows the State to intervene, it may only do so within the bounds delineated for it by the Church. In other words, this is a dramatic show for the people. Nothing is going to change but the people's perceptions. The Church and its priests are irreformable. Why? Because the gullible dupes of this world, including the States of this world, believe that the Church is divine and infallible, and that to go against the Church is to go against Christ. As long as the world continues believing Rome's lies, the Church and her priests will debauch children. Likewise, Roman Catholic parents will continue to put their children in the presence of the pedophile priests. They will continue to sacrifice their own children to the priests and to the Church. Nothing will ever change except when the Church and all who are in it are destroyed when Christ returns.

Catholic Church has always made me uncomfortable. Im not judging their framework or their traditions but I'm a Christian and the way I interpret the Bible is it's God who you worship and Jesus died for our sins so we can live. The whole pope thing throws me off because why do you need that conduit to get to God. Wether priests are long dead now, out of ministering, or currently serving, victims should be heard anyhow and not made to feel less of a person. And even though current trends are showing a decrease of incidents, what the current trends do not show is the unreported incidents where a priest may threaten a victim if they tell. One good thing about all this is, the law has changed, at least here in the US, where the abuse incidents have to be reported to police. No longer can any local diocese or the vatican be the sole investigating organization in an abuse case, because the catholic church has swept so many abuse allegations under the rug.

We act in our local area as if all is well. We base our confidence on the promises of Christ and the example of his martyrs and his saints. Should we just ignore the alarm bells being rung by those who in other contexts we would call ‘whistleblowers’? We cannot abandon the Church even if its leaders abandon us.

Those guilty should be punished by the fullest extent of the law. Those that knew and it went all the way to the Pope👹 Need to be held accountable for letting this happen for far too long👹.
