Yes, this has been going on for centuries "in the Catholic church". Yes, child sexual abuse frequently pops up in other religions, and also, schools, and other institutions. But, there is a huge difference. The Catholic church pedophilia is dug in like a tick. Pennsylvania Attorney General, Shapira, referred to the Catholic church as "organized crime, mafia style" and issued an 850+ page grand jury indictment on priests. The church fought in the courts to suppress the names of the predator priests, allowing them to remain incognito, so they could continue preying on innocent children. Most guilty priests dodged justice because the church fought in the courts until the stature of limitations ran out. These predator priests are most likely still hanging around, because the Catholic community is too busy pointing fingers at others rather than sweeping around their own back porch. The phenomena is world wide, with accusations of hundreds of thousands of abused Catholic children across Europe alone. The church orchestrated a huge cover up and refused to cooperate with law enforcement. Nothing has changed in the church, and nothing will, because Catholics refuse to "man up" and fight back.
And in every walk of life. Even in the immediate family!!! Evil deals in the hearts of men, looking to do evil all the time!! And the internet has made it worse!!
@@alecrim888 It is a serious problem in the Catholic church because the members and the leadership refuses to deal with it. Hundreds of thousands of children in Europe alone have accusations of child sexual abuse, especially in France. The Pennsylvania grand jury, investigating child abuse in the state, delivered an 850 +pages of indictments and horrific details of abuse. The state Attorney General, Shipira, accused the Catholic church of mafia style tactics in their cover up and refusal to solve the problem. Hundreds of priests ruined the lives of little innocent ones, whole communities devastated, while the Catholic church pointed fingers at other institutions doing the same. Thanks to the church dragging out the outcome in the courts, only a few predator priests were prosecuted, because the statute of limitations ran out. The church lawyered up and tried to stop the release of the names of the predator priests, rather than punish them, ensuring that other children would be victims of unidentified priests. This is pure evil. No other church, school, business, or any other institution has acted in this manner. The church needs to "man up", accept responsibility for their misbehavior, and report child abuse rather than hide it. Meanwhile, leave your children alone with a priest at their own peril.
The predator priests get away with it because the Catholic church hires lawyers to fight the accusers and the prosecutors in the courts. In Pennsylvania, the church fought until the stature of limitations time limit ran out, and the priests could not be prosecuted.
Offering counseling to offending priests is commendable but it should not be a substitute for facing the legal consequences of inappropriate behavior. Sexual abuse is a criminal offense as well as moral deficiency. By not dealing with offending priests, the Church undermines its own integrity and credibility. Why aren't offending abusers defrocked? Tax exemption status should be dependent on the compliance with government requests for transparency. From my early adulthood, I knew about renewal centers but in my innocence, I thought that they dealt with priests' alcoholism, substance abuse and gambling habits.
But bishop Strickland protests the gay holy order of the sisters of perpetual indulgence and gets defrocked but if u touch kids u don't, this is one of the many proofs when Rome left the east it ceased to be the church I used to be a messianic/evangelical now eastern Orthodox, Catholics come home those who really love the world
Once ordained, you cannot remove the consecrated status of an individual. Tu es sacerdos in aeternam - you are a priest forever. You can stop his officiating any priestly duties, but you cannot "unmake" his consecrated status. Even those who voluntarily leave the priesthood and live in the secular world, they are still consecrated men of God, just not practicing. Just like an ex-president - he is always Mr President, although not acting or holding the power of that office.
It's sad they try to educate the predators or they hide them move them to another church. They do nothing for the victims. All they care about is protecting the priest because that in turn will protect the church.
Absolutely disgusting. I was raised Catholic and love my roots however the lengths the Church went to cover this up and SEND known Offenders to other Parishes is absolutely unforgeable and shows NO moral character on behalf of the Bishops and Cardinals. The large yard is surrounded by a privacy fence, so fathers can't sit in their cars plotting to kidnap their children out playing in the yard.
You are absolutely right. It's a way for a Catholic family to deal with unacceptable sexual behaviour in their offspring and maintain good standing. Send them off to become a priest. It used to be like this for gay men back in my day....
@@LoantakaBrook Yeah that doesn't matter. History shows that hetero predators are often attracted to pre-pubescent boys. LGBT are no more likely to abuse than straight people.
seb. You are right. Being gay does not cause a man to be a pedophile. But a pedophile who is gay will want boys, not girls. Almost all the victims of priests are male, and almost all of them are not little boys. Almost all of the victims are post-pubescent teen age or very young men.
And now, many dioceses declare bankruptcy to pay the victims. So I give the government 15,000 a year in taxes to suppor their causes, and 500 a year to my church to pay for air conditioning or whatever.
Churches have been closed and sold to pay for the priest’s crimes. They eventually found abuse going up to the level of an Archbishop whose crimes had been known about since the 50s in Nova Scotia and the community halls that the local congregations had funded and built with donated labour were all sold to pay for the consequences. The Catholic Church didn’t suffer and pay the consequences. The members whose family members had been victims for decades did.

Roman Catholic Canon Law stipulates that the Civil Power has no jurisdiction over the Spiritual Power (The Church) and that the Civil Power must by all means SERVE the Church. That's why "The Church watches The Church". No Civil Authority of any rank has any authority whatsoever over The Church. Further, every property of The Church is a sovereign sanctuary of The Church and no Civil Power may cross the threshold of Church property without the express permission of the local Church Bishop. That's why the worst of the worst pedophile priests are put up in posh protective premises like this one run by the Servants of the Paraclete, which is merely one of countless sacrosanct Church Sanctuaries around the globe. what does Jesus advocate for these cases ..? He tells us in The Gospel of Luke, "He said to His disciples, It is impossible that hurt should never be done to men’s consciences; but woe betide the man who is the cause of it. it doesn't allow this to continue. What happened is absolutely despicable on so many levels - morally, humanly, ethically etc. It's a monstrous crime. Nonetheless, I know that the church has learned a tough lesson and is taking its steps to 1) deal with past abuse and 2) prevent possible future abuse.imo journalistic reporting is needed sometimes to put on the heat on authorities; but then one needs to acknowledge - as said - that many people in the church want to change the working and implementing with regards to uncovering/preventing abuse. I sure hope that I may be able - within my own sphere of influence - to contribute to the solution

They sleep without a conscious because according to them, they have not done anything wrong. "The lord is my shepherd and he created me in his image, therefor I am not evil and if I confess my sins will be forgiven" It's a joke
After all this exposure, & absolute affirmation of these horrible & despicable deeds, I am stunned that so many Catholics remain in denial & refuse to demand that the elephant in the room be addressed & done away with; THE VOW OF CELIBACY!!
Richard Sipe, a former Benedictine monk, no longer a priest and married, wrote extensively about the Servants of the Paraclete decades ago. He wrote many books on the subject of abusive priests. In a May 2009 study, Sipe found that there were extensive problems in the sexual behavior of Burlington, Vermont, Catholic clergy. He examined the records of 102 priests "whose records were available" between 1950 and 2002. He claimed that, of this group, 23 priests were sexually involved with children under age 13, 15 were reported for involvement with married women and 19 were said to have had sexual relationships with adult men. He asserted that 49 could be said to have a homosexual orientation
It's happening North of your border as well. Check out the Residential Schools in Canada. There are also problems in Europe. They're not stopped from ministering. They just send them to another church.....not informing them of the problem.

Absolutely terrific reporting! Great work, guys. Can someone explain to me why a kid would go for a weekend with his abuser for four years, starting when he was twelve? That means he was 16 before it ended. Didn't the kid know (unless he was mentally handicapped) what was going to happen to him on those weekends somewhere along the line? Why did it never occur to him to say "No! I don't want to do this anymore!" ? Every time that priest showed up in his car to take the boy away and molest him for the 50th or the 100th time - hadn't the kid figured out what was coming as he got into that car? I'm not implying that the kid was complicit - many boys say they were molested for years. I'm trying to understand how it is possible without the kid knowing in advance that he was about to be molested AGAIN. I do understand why they don't come forward until years later - sometimes decades later. It happened to me just once when I was 12, and I never allowed that priest near me again. The other boys in my crowd used to talk about that priest when the subject arose - which was very rarely. They also said "Watch out for this guy." They did not get molested - or at least that's what they said. It took me 50 years to recollect enough about that one episode to come forward - so I had conveniently blocked it out virtually all my life. Matthew 18:6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." - Jesus Christ. (I'm not a "Bible thumper" but the Vatican fully and well knows Jesus' position on child molestation.) They ignored it for what they saw as practical and financial reasons. They even went further in their complicity by forming an articulate if Byzantine system of cover-up and playing whackamole with guilty priests.
I’m catholic, I was molest of one priest , but i will be catholic for ever , we have to understand that is not Catholic Church fault its the people in it, all of us commit sins, I understand what this people do is unfortunate, horrible , terrible so sorry for that is been done to you , I will pray for you so we as a family God heal us , I forgive my aggressor , and I pray for him. It most certainly is the church's fault. The church has been protecting pedophile priests for centuries. The predators are transferred from one location to another when they're caught. Catholicism isn't the only denomination. The Southern Baptist Convention is just as guilty. Give clergy power over people ans some will take advantage of it.
Sexual abuse/rape should not have a statute of limitations. The victims many times have a lifetime of issues that stem from the abuse. Therefore, the abusers should live in fear of being caught every single day after abusing.
The founder, was Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald. His advocacy for defrocking priests who sexually abused parishioners was so forceful that some argue it made the Catholic hierarchy aware of the dangers of allowing these priests to return to parish work.
shows one old toad wandering around with what looks like a thirty foot of thin rope ..ummm wonder why he would need that -- maybe taking it to a private cross party ..
The legistaltion needs to make changes regarding SA victims because we now know survivors usually come to terms in their mid adult life and that’s when they usually start speaking against their perpetrators. So knowing that, why do we still have a 25 year statute of limitations?! 😡
The Papacy needs to devise a very clear, open and transparent policy which will involve a step-by-step process which will outline the actions to be taken as soon as either the Pope or the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), initiates a Canonical investigation into the allegations. In the 1st instance, that priest would be required to meet with, either his local bishop or, if a priest within a religious order, then he reports to the provincial of that order once weekly. This priest would be removed from any ministry involving minors until the outcome of any Canonical investigation. Should the local law enforcement agencies arrest this priest before the conclusion of the canonical investigation, the church will continue its own investigation. Should the canonical investigation find a criminal case to answer, it should instruct the local bishop to hand the matter over to the authorities and alert the local police services. Should this priest be found guilty by the canonical court, this priest should be immediately forbidden from all ministry and fast-tracked to be laicised. If this priest is found guilty of a criminal act, then the relevant legislation should be applied like any other case of this nature
It would be interesting to have a definition of "sexual abuse" - to clarify the parameters in the law of what it considers to be abuse. And how do these standards apply to other professions.
The coverup continues. In 2020 I received a payment from the Archdiocese of Philadelphiy as a settlement for abuse I suffered back in 1961. In response I promised never to sue the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Reently, I went on their website because I learned that they had published a list of credibly accused priests who had passed away. The priest who abused me was not on the list.
At least the rest of society doesn't move them around, protect them, and put them around more children to be targeted. It's obviously a big part of their pagan religion. Other pedophiles in society don't pretend like they are representing God either.
Yes Erik, Well aware! I can't tell you how this makes me feel, there are no words! The Church that I grew up in and looked to for spiritual guidance, now faith in it destroyed! Do they know or care what they have done to us⁉️😂
If it wasn’t for the ministry of the Servants of the Paraclete I believe even more horrific abuse would have been perpetrated. They didn’t always get it right, they returned men to ministry when they shouldn’t have been. They offer psychiatric, psychological and addiction counselling services. Whether it’s effective or not is unclear. They don’t just provide a “secret sanctuary”, their role is to treat priests. They do not “hide” priests, any more than a mental hospital “hides” patients. This is just not true. Priests go through the legal process after being accused. They do not “hide out” with the Servants of the Paraclete. Post legal process, when they are convicted but perhaps are not jailed, the Paracletes sometimes give them someplace to live. Mostly priests return to their own area and live there. The debate around disclosure of where offenders should be housed is ongoing. I happen to believe that the Servants of the Paraclete provide a service to the Church that is valuable in terms of treatment of troubled priests of all kinds.
This report is pure irony. Perpetrators are handed over to someone to be sequestered and called devils while at the same time whinging on about them not facing consequences. This appears to be primarily an exercise in ax grinding.
It would be much more thoughtful if you presented the facts without that haunting music in the background. This is such an important topic that needs to be addressed objectively without biased music swaying perspective. Maybe you are more interested in sensationalism to make a buck than getting to the truth and dealing with it genuinely and judiciously.

No, this is Jew silliness
And in every walk of life. Even in the immediate family!!! Evil deals in the hearts of men, looking to do evil all the time!! And the internet has made it worse!!
Exactly! It's not a religious problem. It's a human problem.
I just dont understand why these priests are not trated as any other sexual offender. Brought to court and punished accordingly.
The predator priests get away with it because the Catholic church hires lawyers to fight the accusers and the prosecutors in the courts. In Pennsylvania, the church fought until the stature of limitations time limit ran out, and the priests could not be prosecuted.

Because they look just like the men that run this country. If they had year round tanned skin they'd be under the penitentiary
Power, influence, money, that it goes all the way to the top - all the usual evil things
Because they are forbidden by church doctrine to speak ill of another priest to an outside person or organization such as the police.
But bishop Strickland protests the gay holy order of the sisters of perpetual indulgence and gets defrocked but if u touch kids u don't, this is one of the many proofs when Rome left the east it ceased to be the church

You are absolutely right. It's a way for a Catholic family to deal with unacceptable sexual behaviour in their offspring and maintain good standing. Send them off to become a priest. It used to be like this for gay men back in my day....
Exactly. A good book to read is “Goodbye Good Men” it’s all about that.
The solution is that they ought to marry a wife. Marriage is biblical even to the priests in the Scripture did it.
They are synonymous
Which is why the concept of a priest is stupid. You just admitted someone as disgusting as a pedo can become a priest

The victims are boys/young men.

So the money donated and given by congregants goes to supporting the abusers?

The church should have preserved the image of the church by addressing the issue of pedophile priests immediately instead of covering it up, and therefore, letting it ruin the image of the church forever:😢
Would be nice but you are applying today's standards to the days of old.
@@JJ-qt6wc I don't understand your reply! To clarify, we all know now that this abuse was going on long before it was uncovered, and the standard of the church was the SAME no matter when it was going on i. e. to not address it and to cover it up! To repeat, it should have been addressed by the church immediately, Unfortunately, the abuse went all the way up into the hierarchy, those who were guilty themselves, McCarrick, an abuser himself, and others, and Law, and others, who knew but did nothing! The greatest abuse was moving these religious from parish to parish to let them continue their abuse on more children. Evidentially, this is the church that I grew up in, but thankfully, I didn't know it at the time and none of these experiences touched me, only good experiences!😃
So why's the media knowd about this case if the Church covering this allegations.
Because people who were abused started to report this to the authorities who started to investigate and the media, of course, started to report the abuse. course the media started
Because those people who were abused reported the abuse to the police, who investigated, and the media, finding out, began to report it.
My brother in law grew up in Rock Island IL and was an alter boy in the Catholic Church. He passed away last year at age 65 after struggling his whole life with an alcohol addiction. One evening he confessed to me he had been sexually molested by his Priest but said the memories were fuzzy stating he thinks from blocking them out for so long. He lived his whole life with the aftermath of what happened and drank himself to death. The Catholic church can try to cover and protect the guilty all they want.

JP2 knew, Benedict knew, Francis knows, they all do.

Keep dreaming
It would be interesting to have a definition of "sexual abuse" - to clarify the parameters in the law of what it considers to be abuse. And how do these standards apply to other professions.
Soon as charged are bought, out come the walkers 🙄
The coverup continues. In 2020 I received a payment from the Archdiocese of Philadelphiy as a settlement for abuse I suffered back in 1961. In response I promised never to sue the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Reently, I went on their website because I learned that they had published a list of credibly accused priests who had passed away. The priest who abused me was not on the list.
Thanks for your comment. God bless you 🙏
How well has society itself solved sexual abuse?
It hasn,t. And Jesus wept.
Do they know or care what they have done to us⁉️😂
10% thats a joke. Its everywhere within the church.
They should be in jail.
Very important to talk about until no more kids are abused!
@@Elizabeth-rh1hl how would that be an improvement?
It would be much more thoughtful if you presented the facts without that haunting music in the background. This is such an important topic that needs to be addressed objectively without biased music swaying perspective. Maybe you are more interested in sensationalism to make a buck than getting to the truth and dealing with it genuinely and judiciously.
I have never given money to churches. I was behind scenes and the money is not used for good. Cardinals alone are paid 3thousand a month, plus a credit card for the Vatican supermarket. The best of foods, wines etc. l was horrified.
brings new meaning to the phrase "He joined the Paras"
There is no sin in the hearts of ANY 2 people in love.We all want to touch and hold those we cherish. There is sin in LUST as in rape, child molesting child sex trafficking, pornography.etcThere is no heart in any of these. Your treasure is where your heart lays.Mine lays on my chest.
Statistically SA is the highest among school teachers. Have you quit sending your kids to school yet?
Radio Amour knows. Radio Notre-Dame knows.
1947? .... you mean when the Bible was change to say being gay was a sin from being a predator?
Some are wolves in sheepskin. It seems it's a permissive society.
So sad💔
I'm skeptical of this report, not because I doubt that these priests have commited heinous crimes against children, but because it's not a secret order. I have known about the Servants of the Paraclete for years. They publish their mission and locations in vocational material every publication.
I believe you.. I am very sorry for you and your pain.. Please somebody do something..
