    Another important tip: Don't forget to BREATH. Some guys hold their breath on a heavy bench press and that is an exertion headache waiting to happen. The other important thing he did cover.....STOP your set. In fact, stop your entire bench press workout for that day. You will not "work through" that pain. In fact you may pop a blood vessel. I really felt like I almost did one time.

    Had my first ones like a month ago and they just kept progressing every time I did a pressing movement or dips.
    I even had to skip a few days of school cus I couldn’t focus at all when I had a really bad one 2 weeks ago. Something else that helps is just taking a break from the movement and take some deload days.

      Very frustrating--sorry to hear that. My advice is as soon as you experience even the faintest signs of an exertion headache, kill the set, cool off and try again in a few minutes (very carefully). If it still starts to hurt, pick a different exercise for the day. Sucks you gotta do this, but there doesn't seem to be any going back once the headache kicks in full blast. Good luck Cody!

      @@rahulpanchal982 yes it took about ten days , but you really have to relax, stay away from exerting yourself to much. Take a couple weeks off the gym , I know it sucks but you really have to in order to get better. I tried to go back to early and I felt the headache again. It feels like a build up of blood or something, very uncomfortable feeling. When you go back in take it easy your first day , I haven't lifted heavy on the leg press in awhile now , but it must be gradual , dont go super heavy again on the leg press immediately. Good luck !!!

      I did the same thing on leg press 5 years ago. It was a day where I was pretty tired, didn’t eat well, and had a bad hydration day. It would continue happening every work out or when having sex. Best thing to do is stop doing anything that triggers these headaches for several days, possibly weeks. It’s almost like something needs to heal in the head. Each time it happens, you have to start your rest period over. For me it took nearly a month.

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  6 років тому

      Getting some delicious German volume, are you? I have the same problem with that man!
      I used to try to bang out stupid high rep squat sets (e.g., Mass Made Simple's 50 reps @ 225), but my head would always cause me to stop before my legs...very frustrating.
      I'll be honest, I haven't quite figured it out yet for squats. I did a set of 15 @315 the other day and my brain just about exploded. I think the only reason I was able to even push it that far was because I was trying like hell to divert the tension away from my neck and head by locking in my grip and lats (not a bad practice anyway).
      Not sure on this one...I hate experimenting with it (the only thing that makes high rep squat sets more terrible is a knife in your skull while you do them), but I'll keep messing around and see if I can figure it out.
      This is purely anecdotal, but I've noticed the SS Yoke bar doesn't give me the same degree of head pressure...possibly due to less strain on the shoulders I suppose.
      Good luck man. Let me know if you have any break thrus on this front. Thanks for watching!

    I’ve been taking creatine with my workouts everyday for the past 2 months and every time I lay down to bench my head starts pounding and I’m wondering if it’s because of the creatine?

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  6 років тому

      While I haven't experienced it myself, I know creatine can act like a diuretic. Could be a symptom of dehydration, or perhaps cramping in the muscles at the base of your skull. Just a guess, but I'd try drinking significantly more water if you haven't already. Also, I'd skip the "loading phase" doses if you aren't already past them.
      Thanks for chiming in. Good luck!!

      Hey Hamid, I'll tell you man, I haven't had this issue in probably two years now (I don't even have to put the towel on my neck any more).
      The biggest change for me has been focusing on leg drive during the bench press (which has also helped my bench). I don't think I mention this in the video, but squeeze your glutes as hard as you can during the press (especially while your pushing up). In addition to giving you a better foundation, and preventing back/hamstring issues on max effort lifts, it seems to do a great job of taking the tension off of my head.
      Also try using a lacrosse ball on the base of your skull during your warmup to loosen any tension you may have ahead of time. I talk about it a bit in this video:

      +Daniel Valencia I'm glad you noticed. In almost any other plank variation, you would be correct about staying parallel to the floor. In the case of an RKC plank, however, the idea is to create so much tension in you core (drive your elbows and toes toward each other) that your hips sometimes come up a little.
      Give them a shot sometime--tense every muscle in your body for 10 seconds at a time in the plank pose.
