Q.What camera do you use?
A. I use the Go Pro Hero 6 Black Edition
Trent Jr, when verifying if the truck is in neutral, with a stick shift, flip the hi/lo range switch on the shifter. If it syncs in or out, it's in neutral, and will ONLY do it when in neutral. An old timer taught me that many years ago. Back in the day a lot of slop would be in the stick or in the gears and it would feel like neutral but not actually be in neutral. A transmission will only go in or out of hi/lo range when the truck is in neutral. Like if you're in 5th gear and flip it to preselect, then come out and go into 6th, you'll hear it (or whatever the highest low gear you're in, shifting into high range to the lowest high gear. It won't go into the selected range until the trans passes thru neutral. Just a little knowledge to share since I saw you wiggle the stick thru the gears. Keep up the great videos. You and Ron Pratt are the only ones I watch. Stay safe bud.
It is almost 12am.. why am I watching this and why is it so interesting to me 😂
marijuana
Jay Bee Barry it’s 2:30 here. Can’t sleep.
Got me hooked too damn it
1:54 AM
My 4 year old granddaughter watched this entire video with great interest.
Care was taken in hitching the semi. You knew what the problem was. From experience what to do, good job. Thanks for letting us watch you two at work.
New tool on sealed drive shaft was pretty cool.Nice to see Roberto getting to do heavy duty now. Thanks for sharing Trent.Takecare & stay safe out there.

I like this video because some people don't know how fast traffic is flowing while you're stopped on the side. By listening to the traffic you can tell that it's moving very fast and with wind traveling with it.
This is why it's so dangerous to leave your car or try to fix your car without CHP helping you..
These guys did a great job of removing that truck that could have been someone's mistake in driving. 🤗
Tow drivers are the Knights of the highways. My hat is off to you, and I always slow down/ move over for you. Scary out there. Stay safe.
Way too many people dont move over for tow drivers, ive been driving truck for 21 years and truckers are getting just as bad not moving over.Be safe guys you provide a valuable service
So true
I got cuss out over my cb because I said trucks no care and wont move over or slow down if I cant merge I put on my flashers and say becareful i dont want to hurt no one out here
WOW - I enjoyed watching - your truck and your attention to detail.
Very professional. Work smarter, not harder.
Nice to see people with experience at work. also nice to see cops accepting it! Respect!
Great teamwork and an excellent tutorial, thanks.
You guys are my heroes, unfortunately things happen on the road and a tow is required. Last time it was a delivering the empty trailer to the customer and the tractor got stuck in lot due nobody noticing that a sinkhole had developed and i was the lucky bastard that found it first.
Not one of more fun moments in driving, but it happens sometimes.
Enjoyed the video along with the backing in, need more with beginning to the end including parking. Have a great day Trent and stay safe out there!
trent jr is a beast on towing hes really good
I know this is a few months old video but awesome video. Be safe and don't get hurt. Them highways can be a nightmare.
Nice training and leadership video.
Need to save a link to this to post on a channel that features unauthorized parking getting towed. Gets lots of comments saying 'I can't be towed because I drive a (insert really large truck)'. They don't understand that there are tow trucks big enough to do this and the people with them give business cards to tow companies that don't have such a rig for when the occasion arises that something 'to big to tow' needs towed.
Having so much weight and pressure on a little piece of steel is incredible.
Funny you should say run the checklist. I've watched pretty much all of your videos so I paused at that point, ran the checklist in my head and yup, everything was done. if you had a trailer, you'd need air to the trailer. Your vids are great teaching tools lol!

Great 👍

Trent, at your age kids are drinking their fool faces off. Love your work ethic. Not to mention you really know what your doing to. Keep up with the vids.
🖑 Hi, Trent i don't think i have ever seen you use the Tool before for taking out pressed in Drive shafts 🤔. I seen Darel came to help right at the last Minute when you where almost done. lol🖒
Thank you for the ride along...
well I just learned some new things :) thanks for the video
According to the US D.O.T. number at 00:52, the truck belongs to TRUCKING PLUS INC out of La Mirada, California. They have 3 drivers and 3 trucks and that's it. Small courier company. According to the cop it had been there about 4 days. They likely had another one of their drivers deliver the trailer, but didn't come back to get the truck in that time. It was either intentionally abandoned or the traffic cops got to it before they could. You can't just leave a vehicle sitting on the side of the interstate, as it's a safety hazard.
Yup, can't see it just being abandoned, but they should have arranged to have it moved or picked up/towed as I expect it was illegally parked there - local ordinances?
Good job! I know that highway and it can be hot out there!
How come you have to remove the drive shaft before you can move the rig?
This is better than RepoNut channel
Came here after watching Heavy Rescue 401 on the Weather Channel last night
Work smarter not harder' 👍😎 Avoid injuries or fatality. This video makes me love work even more.
Another great video Trent ! Hope it cools down for you guys soon.
For Abandoned Semis with Adventure Bay Towing of Chaseville/Santa Angela, we use landolls with our Cascadia and our Prostar, even our T680.
I wonder if the owner or the driver of that truck will see this video. Lol.
My dad tows for a living in Missouri. And I was wondering on a freightliner like that do you have to pull driveline or can you just pull an axle. I couldn't remember off the top of my head. But nice truck. My dad drives a 2002 peterbilt 378 with a Vulcan v100 50 ton unit and he tows so many internationals and macks that I never really know what to pull on the freightshakers.
Awesome training thx
It feels like a long time sitting here watching you guys work but 25 minutes to do a full hook isn't bad really
I could watch this stuff for hours and I can't even figure out why it's interesting! lol.... :D
At first I thought it just might be easier to front tow it to a exit since it was a manual transmission then rehook it from the rear. That way you wouldn’t have to deal with the drive shaft but that puller didn’t look all that bad.
That was the first time I used that tool! I was pretty impressed was not bad at all. Thanks for watching!
Does that method damage the UJs? I suspect that it makes for cheaper initial construction but more expensive repairs.
Flyerbob 1 you never be woke up in the sleeper when your other driver is on duty just to say o shit this is not going to feel good you look out just to see a bad dream
Another good video I have a automatic transmission cascadia
Nice video Trent interesting situation
Nice tow truck I love me some rig
love the video, you should come across the pond to show some of the idiots over hear how its done.... love the rig btw......
You guys do a lot to tow a truck, I watch Highway to Hell on TV
Thomas VanHorsen that's because on TV they edit out all the "boring" stuff like hooking up chains and disconnecting the driveshaft
in the OLD days i used to pound out the U joints with a sledge. guess i was throwing the balance out of the shaft! i never knew?(gave a F') LOL
Excelente maniobrabilidad. 👍desde Chile.
When you were putting a chain around that axle I could hear a big old air leak. That can't be good, can it?
Good job team. Reberto keep peepin game u doin great homie
Yep. Saw that truck last week. Wow
So whats the story on that truck, why was it left there? If it said in the video i must not have heard it :0
What would the cost of towing this, is it by mileage, weight or set rate. It cost me $298.00 from where pickup to yard, and that was 12 miles.
Ask for a advance on pay,so u can get some shoe strings.....lol
This job looks like heaps of fun and I'm a systems administrator
Good job on the road training .
Nice video Trent. 👍👍😁
Good and you do a cold start on one tow truck
It’s 120 degrees there will not be any cold starts any time soon. Thanks for watching!
I'm from Florida - can't imagine doing your job here with the high temps plus the high humidity!
Plaza Towing I dont think any of plazas trucks sit long enough to really get a juicy cold start anyways
Plaza Towing I'm talking about when you first started truck in the morning
Excelente Video.
I'd say this is going to be a very expensive time for the owner of that truck, tow, impound fees, recovery to a workshop, then the repair.
nethalus Its abandoned for a reason. Just going to be scrapped im sure. Otherwise it would have been taken care of already. Looked like its the next "mexico special". Too costly to fix and too much to move. Just leave it and let someone else take the burdon since ts scrap weight. Once gained ownership and let salvagers pull parts. Truck only looked worth 10,000 on a good operational running day.
Honestly looked like you could part it out for more than 10k...
nethalus vh
@@brandoncaldwell95 the CHP officer said the driver had a heart attack.
I was thinking, somebody had a bad day.
Great stuff seeing what you guys have to deal with out there on the road. What happens after you have to pick up an abandoned truck, do you guys call the owners of the truck to come pick it up?? If they don't pick it up, do you guys sell the vehicle thru an auction then??? I have always wondered.... Thanks bud!!
Good job Trent and Roberto. Good training video also. Why was it abandoned?
First time watching your video, and not the last. Great job!!
I've watched 5hrs of Trent's breakdown recovery whilst my wife has eaten a family size trifle, the greedy.....
Awesome Video Trent !!!
hey Trent I would have just rear towed it pressed in drive shaft are a pain in the but I had one that wouldn't come out even with tiger tool
Bottle Jack 2x4 wood little use of some wd40 they come out real easy
This might be a stupid question but does all heavy duty tow trucks come with tools and everything or do you have to buy them yourself?
I have the same reaction when I come across a press in u joint
Good job
Does your equipment have to be state inspected yearly (chains, hooks, cables etc) or do you replace when needed.
There are most definitely regulations involving the quality of construction and periododical inspection of lifting devices and associated rigging. From what I've seen, these inspections are done by outside private contractors (to get an extra eye on safety) and the correct paperwork then gets filed. Roadside safety inspections of anything and everything on or near a public roadway can be conducted by Local, County, State , and/or Federal Officials at any time. So, just be ready. Don't run junk.
Gone in 1560 seconds.
Nice tool to remove the drive shat
Great watching guys...thx.
That looks like about a 2014 or 15. During that time freightliner was advertising that they could go 300 k miles before problems.
Who makes that u-joint press . I used to work dairy farm haul trucks and the COW Shxx made everything rust and freeze . i used a big puller but it was destructive. you just see em once i tried to make my life easier by antiseize all parts since it was part of fleet job. woulda gave alot for that tool. is it on a tool truck?? Roberto looks like a hard worker
Daniel Hepp tiger tool makes it
OTC also came out with there version
Can you do a walk around of the light/medium duty freight liner
JEFFREY
Will you make a video on foam washing your truck pleaaaassssseeeeeeeeeeee
Where did you get those ratchet straps I would love to buy a pair
was this a company truck or leased to a O/O?
Wow That Awesome Ever Dealt With StubbornTruckers Treat There Trucks Like Baby's 😎
Nice job bro! Teaching the old dog new tricks lol jk
If it's a manual and is in neutral why do you have to disconnect the drive shaft?
If no one claims it, can have it?
The only thing I haven't seen on that truck, Is a first aid kit
Could you record light weight towing like cars?
16:00... Lemur light
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!
is it common not to hook driveshaft back up? I know it makes sense not to because it'll probably be towed away for repairs unless they have you do them. Thanks for sharing
mechanicmike if they conect drive shaft and it comes off its on them...
Most towing companies leave it to mechanics to put it back on to negate liability.
If drive shaft isn't reinstalled less chance of someone sneaking in and stealing the truck
Hey bro what happens when no one claims a vehicle how long is the lein process and after that do you guys auction or just sell to a wrecker ?
OK-it's probably been asked before, but i'm relatively new to your channel - what do you do if CHP is gone and the owner of the truck shows up? Has this happened to you? Have you video'd it?
I've never seen a quick release push lock air line disconnect so easy...
I know right! It was a 50/50 shot. Thanks for watching!
I see ,noAir waisted,,Good job
why do you have to disengage the drive shaft when towing trucks ??
So you don't overheat the trans, truck isn't running circulating coolant and there's no airflow across the front stack while being towed. Same as if you were towing a rear/four wheel drive vehicle with a tow dolly, disconnect the driveshaft from the rear end and tie it up.
For those that dont know from California.Lets say that Truck is from Ohio it takes 3 DAYS Min to travel one way to Ohio. and three days back.. so you wanna Tow his Truck after 4 days? Thats not including the Holiday July 4th.. i bet theres a Outstanding Loan on that truck also.
Yes sir! Although this truck was from Fresno which is why law enforcement gave them the time they did. Thanks for watching!
Yea you cant leave a vehicle like that on the side of the road for that long. If they could'nt recover it themselves they need to hire a service like this to tow it and store it until that time.
Good!
Plaza Towing did the owner operator come back 2 get this truck
TermitesRGood1 someone going to pay
If the transmission is in neutral why does the driveshaft have to be dissconnected?
What is a press in driveshaft can you explain this
It's a different way of fitting the bearing caps over the ends of the spider. Instead of using bolt-in-place bearing caps where a retainer is held in by 2 bolts (one at either end) and the retainer holds the caps from flying off, it's a pressed-in style of cap that needs some serious force to put it together, or to take it apart. Some feel that it's a tougher, stronger and simpler way to fasten down bearing caps, but it becomes a pain in the ass in situations where (like on the side of the road, away from a garage and lots of tools) it becomes a nuisance to get undone without a special tool, which Trent has, and used in the video. All I can suggest is that you look at some diagrams on Google or whatever source, so you can examine the differences between "conventional-style" and pressed-in style.
Instead of pulling the driveshaft out why not pull axle shaft out.
Question: If he was going to pull the driveshaft anyway why did he check the transmission for neutral?
Driveshaft could be rotated when Transmission were in Neutral.. I guess that eases the process.
You guys are getting a nice assortment of stuff piling up there in your back yard. I'm guessing it's dead-beat stuff where the "owner" is protesting, or refusing to, or is unable to pay for services rendered, and basically the thing(s) sit there until legally they become yours to dispose of.
Stan Patterson Yep. So much paper work for that shit. Just to haul it off the the scrapper for $300 on 6 cars..
Do you guys have a rotator?? Ever need one
What kind of straps are those. I must get some
Is. The truck broke
In my day we would get side by side with it, pick up the read end and swing it round and then rear tow it.
I guess your not required to put the driveshaft back on?
Since it has to be towed again somewhere what's the point? Also most towing places leave it to mechanics to put it back on to negate liability.
