Been rewatching and I'm surprised Preston missed the most obvious meaning to the phrase "saltwater was sweeter than wine to Aeron", ie "Aeron prefers drowning his past and guilt in god and religion than in wine". After all, before finding the Drowned God Aeron was a known drunkard and partygoer as way to forget his traumatic past (it's even mentioned by Preston), and after almost dying he went to religion instead.
The fact that Falia seems so cool as snow to me in this whole situation is due to the fact that she honestly has nothing left to lose given the situation. She can either comply with Euron an either live or die by what he says or defy him an surely die . She might assume that Euron is eavesdropping on her during this conversation with Damphair so she might be saying all the right things.
She seems to genuinely believe what she's saying, though. There's no hint she's just saying what she has to say because she's completely terrified. God, what a sick and delusional person. Hard to feel bad for her what happens later in the chapter. She had it coming.
@ 19:51 Euron has more men to keep loyal than just the crew of the Silence. And Falia is just a rejected kid drunk on fame, acceptance and gifts. She would believe/do whatever Euron told her it seems to me. Great video man, keep it up!
I have epilepsy and if i have a seizure ill see sound for a while after that. Like music for example, i can literally see it. Its beyond anything i can explain with words. 😰
It's called synesthesia, it happens when inputs from one part of your brain affect a part it isn't supposed too. Some people taste colors or see sounds, medically it isn't a big deal. It is weird that it happens after a seizure, it is usually hereditary but there might be some scientific literature about it if you care enough to look.

There is a simple explanation for Falia. Falia just strikes me as a fair bit intellectually challenged ... If she has, say, the intellectual and emotional maturity of a seven-year old, that would explain why she's both incredibly naive in regards to Euron, and why she wants to have revenge against her family for making her feel worthless : children are easily cruel if stripped of all moral guidance and usually only think about their immediate wants and feelings. She might regret what happened to her family in a few weeks, for instance. To her, Euron might be just a knight in shining armor that a seven-year old would fantasize about as the one who comes for her and saves her from all the "meanies".

Hey just an FYI that this needs ti be put back in the Prepping for Winter playlist! Loving this series btw - I've already re-watched/listened to all of these a few times. These two chapters (Theon and Forsaken) are awesome! As is the analysis!
I don't know if the extra money on Eurons ship wouldn't be worth it. The question is, what share a typical captain takes. If he usually takes half, Eurons crew would get double the loot than on other ships. And for Euron sailed to regions noone else would dare, the loot could be worth more overall. So probably a sailor on Eurons ship could earn triple or even more.
Falia Flowers seems to me to be a corruption of Jon at the start of AGOT. Jealousy of her siblings, hatred for her step-mother. Resentment of her bastardy and shaming bastard children (Jon breaks down in tears when it's suggested that he should father a bastard before joining the Watch). She also repeats phrases fed to her from a man of authority. In her case Euron, in Jon's case, Benjen (the Watch is a great honor, blah blah blah).
Jonah was already a prophet he was not scared of being a prophet. It was preaching to the city of Nineveh that he was scared of. They had a fearsome reputation. He went around the city and proclaimed that Nineveh had so and so days and God will destroy the city. After his preaching he left and sat on a hill to see the destruction of Nineveh. But the people of Nineveh showed remorse even the princes. That upset Jonah and he blamed god saying that is why he ran he knew god would feel remorse for the Ninevites and not destroy them.
So you were talking about the line, "The taste of salt upon his lips was sweeter than any wine." You said it was peculiar, but I see it as Martin telling the reader that the Damphair is actually DRINKING said salt water. ("...until the waves were breaking over his head.") This fits well with ur conclusion that the, "Drowned God" who Aeron speaks with, is actually just Aeron talking to himself. When you mix religious fanaticism with hallucinations induced by gulping down sea water, I can def see this as being the catalyst for the Damphair/Drowned God conversations....think of it as being similar to the Native Americans tripping on peyote and talking to trees

I believe the reason he keeps saying it would have been better if Asha was born a man because politically that would have allowed the stand a better chance in winning the Kingsmoot. I think you have it all backwards as in this instance its not Aeron who's the misogynist but rather the lords and captains who get to elect their king.
Excellent as always. I don't know if I remember the reason that euron is attacking old town being that he was forced to by his men though. I think his reasons has something to do with that ancient black stone fortress at the base of the Hightower. I wonder what Preston thinks of all those greasy black stone structures around the WOIAF. Will you ever talk about anything other than ASOIAF ever ? I mean I love this shit, I think you are the best at what you do, but I think you would be brilliant for analyzing some art movies like The White Ribbon and so on.
