I just flew back from Ho Chi Minh city to London. Luckily a direct flight, however it was over 13 hours. I find aisle seats the best, you can get up without bothering other passengers and you can occasionally stretch your legs out in to the aisle from time to time. Luckily my flight was a night time flight too, so I managed to sleep the best part of 7 hours out of 13. Agree though long haul flights like that are never easy especially in economy.

Hi Alina! Welcome back to Vietnam! I'm looking forward to some new travel adventures with you and your dad! Enjoy the winter warmth of SE Asia, hoping that our North American winter is not super cold. The coldest winters of my life were spent in Saskatoon.
14 hours is quite unimaginable for me since I’ve never flown overseas. My longest flight is only 6 hours but even that seemed like a long time! Flights longer than 2-3 hours feel like an eternity, imo.
Wow welcome back to Hanoi Alina, I'm excited for you, been there in 2019 planning for another trip in Saigon myself. Your dad is still in great shape enduring 30 hrs flight, hats off to him. 👍
I live in NZ now and my family is still in Alberta, so every time I want to visit it's at least a 13 to 14 hour flight (to Vancouver). But my longest flight was from New Zealand to Spain which was 24 hours in the air, stopping in Doha. Have fun in asia!
My last trip was over 36 hours with two connections and waiting a couple of hours for the plane to actually pull up to terminal because of the weather. Several years ago I flew to Odesa, Ukraine and had booked a room with no windows at Hotel Mozart. It was wonderful for dealing with jet lag after an 8 hour time zone change.
Thanks for the video Ms. Mcleod, I really enjoyed it and glad you and your father made it. Longest flight for me was 12 hours from China to Toronto, it really sucked cause every time I got up to stretch my legs the flight host told me to sit down. And it was freezing in the plane. Thanks again and I look forward to your work.
Glad to see your dad could join you! When you age, there’s no reason to sit around and wait to die when you can go out and enjoy life and your dad is also escaping the brutal Canadian winter. You guys couldn’t have picked a better time to travel to Hanoi and the cost of living in Asia is lower than its in Canada and many people have given up immigrating to the West or are returning home because its very tough to live comfortably in Canada. Nice hotel with the daily breakfast perk and you could unwind after that long flight and extended layover in Tokyo. Thanks for the video and looking forward to more during your stay abroad. Take care and stay blessed! 😊
Hope all your travels go well Alina. Yes, the airlines are squeezing the seats closer together to fit in more passengers. Recently we flew the red eye from Vancouver to Halifax non-stop on our return from the Yukon. Very uncomfortable. My longest flight was 14 1/2 hours to Sydney, Australia from San Francisco in 2012 which went well. But I am getting older and don't enjoy that kind of travel as much. Your Dad is a great sport to be on these adventures.
Longest flight I did was Montreal to Aman, Jordan, about 11 hours. We switch plane and did 7 hours to Calcutta, then we did 3 hours to Bangkok. I thought it was not so bad. 5 years ago, we did 14 hours from Montreal to Shanghai, that was not so bad. The worst flight was flying back from Beijing, a 9 hour flight to Vancouver and then 5 hours to Montreal. I5 was so hot in the plane coming back to Vancouver, I had to get up and stretch my legs a dozen times. I now try to go to places that offer a direct flight of less than 6 hours.
I love your dad! (and you too Alina). He is great! And so practical and true! Nothing is ever free...someone pays for it at some point! Keep up the great channel! The longest flight for me was from T.O. to Scotland. About 7-8 hours. That was long enough for me confined in a tube full of people!

I am glad to see you make it safe to Asia, take good care of your father. My longest flight was from Amsterdam to Miami, I told you about my Canada plans some weeks ago, if I will take a flight it will be Vancouver directly, it is around 9,5 hours. If I go for are more ambitious plan it will be by ship to Halifax and discover parts of Canada from there. Enjoy your stay and I will see your next vid 🙂
Hello, hope you and dad are doing ok after that long flight. The longest flight was when we flew with stops and layovers was to Chengdu , China . It was 32 Hr. Surprisingly , we handled it quite well. Have you been to China ? It's a beautiful country. Enjoy your time in Hanoi, Vietnam. We enjoyed our time there. Sending you much love❤ from Richmond, Va. I am just back from travelling to Rome from Comox Vancouver Island to Vancouver to Munich to Rome. The plane was late arriving in Munich & I had to rebook arriving 5 hrs late in Rome, missing my pre-paid pick-up ($50 E no refunds) I never slept and was exhausted. Left Comox 6 am arrived 8 pm the following nite. Jet lag did me in & I ended catching a really bad cold.
I once did Frankfurt to San Francisco via Lisbon within 17 hours and almost slept at immigration. Getting up at 3 in the morning, arriving at 5 in the evening in Millbrae.
oh wow i'll give Mr Mcleod a big high five for surviving a 14hr flight in the middle seat! 😱I could never do that! One these days I like go to Tokyo but the long haul flights just freak me out.
Most airlines pad the flight time by about 45 minutes in case they are stuck at the runway at takeoff or landing. The problem with being early or late many times you have to wait for a gate.
I’m flyin to Thailand but spending 3 days in Istanbul to break up the long 25-30 hour trip from toronto. Didn’t want to do that again it’s rough! Glad you made it
When I fly long haul, I have a rule that if I am awake, I get up and walk around the aircraft at least once an hour. For this reason, I always prefer wide body aircraft with the two aisles, you can use the galleys to cut through and form a quasi walking path. I have only ever done a 14-hour flight from ICN to JFK and fortunately it was in business class on A380. Even there I had a hard time making 14 hours. It felt so good to get off of the plane. I am not sure I could do 14 hours in an economy cabin, unless maybe it was JAL's roomier economy.
Vietnam has always been high on my list of countries I'd love to visit - I'm looking forward to the series! There's something uniquely awful about Air Canada's 777 seating configuration though, I flew from Frankfurt to Calgary on one last year; it was the most cramped and uncomfortable economy class I've ever flown. Never again 😵💫
Chicago to Warsaw was a long flight and anytime you cross the pacific it is a long flight because it seems they have to go way up north and touch the Aleutian Islands and come south again.
What a nice and gracious thing to do, taking your dad with you on a trip to Southeast Asia. You are a fantastic daughter and person.

Good morning Vietnam. Glad to learn that you and 'the big cheese' have safely arrived in Hanoi, albeit wearily. Hanoi ? you pick the most unusual places. In the future when you reminisce about your world travels, I am sure that the trips with your Dad (and Mom) will be the most meaningful and memorable. All the best Ms. Mcleod and Mr. Mcleod. Go do Hanoi.
Make memories as much as you can !
Your Dad is so cute, hope he will have a good time in Vietnam.
Hello, hope you and dad are doing ok after that long flight. The longest flight was when we flew with stops and layovers was to Chengdu , China . It was 32 Hr. Surprisingly , we handled it quite
well. Have you been to China ? It's a beautiful country. Enjoy your time in Hanoi, Vietnam. We enjoyed our time there. Sending you much love❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki
That is very long! No haven’t been to China yet but would be great to visit.
It's so wonderful you are taking your father with you on your trip! My father and I are close as well and so I would love to do that with him, however, he wouldn't dare travel internationally nowadays with the craziness this world has to offer. But I WILL do it someday!
So sweet. I’ve challenged my daughter to the same venture for me. Since she is as sweet as you, she’s accepted.
Alina you are very pleasant and your dad is awesome. Respect you for talking care of your dad and giving him an opportunity to explore. Enjoy and god bless you both.
My longest flight? Vancouver to Melbourne, almost 17 hours non stop. Loved visiting there, hope to see you tour Australia sometime. Look forward to watching your adventures in Asia, besy wishes to you and your Dad.
Yeah those Australia flights are something else

The longest trip i took was form Libya to Vancouver B _C via London
In one very log day

So happy to see you on the road again!
Arrived in Vietnam! Enjoy the warmer temperatures. Had I the opportunity, I would also escape the winter. Hope that the trip will be enjoyable!
Your dad is awesome, enjoy!
May you and your father have a safe trip. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you so much!
Nice one
Your dad is so precious ❤
Wow thats quite an outing! I don’t fly much anymore so its interesting to see what it is like now. Enjoy your refuge from the ice and cold! 🥶
Love to see your dad happy face. Thanks for share
I once did Frankfurt to San Francisco via Lisbon within 17 hours and almost slept at immigration. Getting up at 3 in the morning, arriving at 5 in the evening in Millbrae.
Hey, I used the same sunscreen and I liked it very much. I usually bought it off Amazon and been using it for more than 2 years 😂
oh wow i'll give Mr Mcleod a big high five for surviving a 14hr flight in the middle seat! 😱I could never do that! One these days I like go to Tokyo but the long haul flights just freak me out.
Most airlines pad the flight time by about 45 minutes in case they are stuck at the runway at takeoff or landing. The problem with being early or late many times you have to wait for a gate.
❤ With a love of God that you took your dad to Vietnam. You're wonderful daughter and wish your mom were there. Have a great time. ❤😊
Wow nice to see you again in Asia
Welcome to Vietnam, hope you and your father will have a good time there!
Thank you very much!
Chicago to Warsaw was a long flight and anytime you cross the pacific it is a long flight because it seems they have to go way up north and touch the Aleutian Islands and come south again.
My, longest travel day was 32hours from Manila to Toronto. 2 layovers and I did it with a broken shoulder that I got ice Skating in Manila at a mall.
Nice to see your dad travel withy you! Love Vietnam! Alina, please visit China. Very eager to see the country through your lenses! Love from India.
Let the winter begin . Enjoy stay safe
Welcome back to Vietnam
