Wondering the same thing
Putin is a boss, he understands English and will utilize the translator to gain that extra time to formulate a response even though he already understood the question in English, you can see the opposite here when asked about the national security council and the interpreter is about to translate but Putin cuts him off and answers quickly since if is a light question.
Well...when you think about it, maybe you are right, maybe for him it is a huge achievement, but I can tell you that millions of people in european countries speak fluent english and do not consider it to be a big deal lol

@@fkykas I’m not saying the fact he knows English is a big deal, just that it allows him that extra few seconds to tailor a response, someone like Putin is calculating like that.
Can we stop with the Putin is a kgb mob boss image? He's literally an attorney and economist by profession, and did part time office work for the much reformed KGB of the 80s. He's probably the most boring person in the world, but a good leader.
I think it's also for PR. For the leader of Russia to be speaking the language of the West would not be a good look.
