Damn. Reminds me of parts of Detroit and Camden NJ. It’s borderline soulless.
Gary is a testament to the dangers of rampant industrial growth. Once it became less profitable to produce and export as much steel in the U.S., so many people lost a good quality of life because the area depended on those now gone industries to thrive. Of course coal mining communities suffered as a direct result too.

Gary is a sad case. The city had over 175,000 people within it's borders back in 1960. Now, after losing over 20 percent on two separate occasions, the city has something like 68, 69 thousand folks...losing over 60 percent the last 60 years.

Here is a note most people don't know. 4th Ave went both ways in the 50's. Almost got killed on my bike around 56-57.
Shoutout to 2300 Jackson Street. That was a real nice touch in the video, just like when you rolled around Greenwood, Tulsa. Very much appreciated. Also, shoutout to the South Shore Line. Gary Indiana looks like a great town as well. But still the population is diminishing but I prefer to see Bloomington or Muncie as well

It's a shame , you have some really nice houses with well maintained gardens. The there's the neighborhoods who don't give a flying f..k, it's like night and day.
Do I-465, I-469, and I-865 sometime this week or next week. I-465 is the Indianapolis Beltway. I-865 is a connector between I-65 and I-465. I-469 is the Southern, Eastern, and Northern bypass around Fort Wayne Indiana.

Coming from a person who is used to urban blight. Gary don't look that bad. The City has done a terrific job removing the run down buildings. The City desperately needs a tax base. If only the city can lure investors to create jobs.
