    This is a "giant" of a piano concerto written by one of the greatest pianists who ever lived. I believe the lack of performances today are due to the difficulty of the piano writing. Hans Kann should be commended in tackling it, and does a great job on this recording.

    Stupendo concerto,pienamente romantico e di notevole virtuosismo,che anticipa i grandi concerti di Henselt,Hiller,Schumann, Mendelssohn,Thalberh,Liszt.....Ottima la prestazione pianistica e orchestrale.
    Gran bella registrazione.
    Complimenti per la bellissima inserzione.

    The man who considered himself the last "classical" composer wrote unironically one of the most romantic piano concerti

    His conceit was legendary. Also noteworthy: he was born in a carriage while his father (also a composer) was en route with his mother from Cassel to take a job in Berlin.

    I believe this composer was really ahead of his time ! I can hear traces of Chopin and Hummel in his music.

    This is the Reinecke edition with the opening tutti drastically cut. To hear the concerto in its entirety, get the Hyperion CD.

    • @sibarit101

      Thank you. I know this concert from Hyperion records, but I also know that Hyperion does not allow uploading. To avoid a "punishment" I have chosen this "variant" that does not diminish the beauty of the concert.

      sibarit101 I'm right with you, sister! Too bad Hyperion pursues this outdated policy, but they were burned in the past, so I can't blame them. They gave me my only strike ever a number of years ago. Too bad, as there is a nice fugato passage in the opening tutti that Reinecke cut out.

    • @sibarit101
      @sibarit101  6 років тому +1

      I blame them for their policy. We will do nothing but promote their music and as long as we do not post a full album, we can awaken the curiosity of the listeners and they will buy the album. But, finally, that's it! We will expect them to change their policy ... :)
      Thanks again!

      sibarit101 Other labels have allowed uploads of individual movements or entire works after the initial release has had a chance to sell for about a year or so. Why not Hyperion? Some of their older releases could stand more exposure.

    • @sibarit101
      @sibarit101  6 років тому +1

      Yes, I have seen that Naxos, for example, has changed its policy a little: the Ries' piano concertos (which I did not delete, even if they were blocked) had no restrictions after one or two years.
      (I talked about the ban on posting an album in its integrity because it could easily be downloaded directly from youtube as .mp3 and so nobody would buy CDs. I would agree with such a restriction )

      @Martin Baldwin-Edwards I think he’s not at chopins height, but still has some great music, there wouldn’t even be recordings if he wasn’t good enough
