Its nice to watch you build as well as ride Jeff! We all figure cutting corners with tools in certain areas can be done, so its nice to know a fortunate dude such as yourself does it! :) I am patiently waiting on the Ripmo I ordered last January from Jenson, and trying to keep my heavy crap hardtail rolling until I get it... :(
This was a very refreshing take on a classical "no emotion, everything goes perfectly" dream bike build. WELL DONE sir! Also, just ordered my Mac Ride @10:17 ✌ and I'm well exited to reveal it to my 3,5 year old 😃
Dude this was the must fun I've had watching a bike build video ever!! And we share a similar approach to tools and what they can be used for! Best shop hammer around!! Keep it up
Ouch... yeah especially since the new grip 2 dampers work based around an open bath system that self bleeds with every use. That damper is gonna be effd up for sure, thicker oil means all the shins and springs are probably gonna get ruined if he keeps running it and it will probably feel good at first but once the oil makes its way into the inners it’s gonna feel stiff as a rock
Invest in a set of snap ring pliers, it makes life so much easier. Even the set from Horrible Freight are ok if you only use them a couple times a year.
so fun to see how relaxed and in confort you are building a bike. when i make something much easier on my bike i feel like "hey i invented fire" !! lol Very nice video man and very cool looking bike !
I love your videos mate. 👍 I would love to get my two young boys one of these!!! Awesome bikes. They love down hill riding! But after my accident there is no way that will ever happen! I can not work again after two neck surgeries! To expensive ..😭😭😭 Keep up your great work....👍
Absolutely love the "Christmas in June" 🎼 vibes 🤩🚲🎬🧙🏻♂️ Solid points about the PNW dropper, the quality of the company Ibis with it's wizardry in craftsmanship ✌🏼 & Superb riding as always!
Great video. Love the colour on this mojo and looks like a great bike but I'm saving my pennies for a new Ripmo if Ibis get their act together and ship some to the UK!
Jeff! You've made a major mistake there (I hope you didn't, and it just looks that way because of editing...) FiT4 uses 20WT gold (10mL air, 40mL damper). Your 36 appears to be a GRIP2 which uses 20WT (10mL air) and 5WT Teflon Infused (40mL damper). Looks like you used 20WT gold on both sides? Going to be a hell of a job getting that 20WT out of your damper. Also, you should avoid pumping your fork right up to your preferred PSI when starting from 0. Pump it up 40-50psi at a time, cycle the suspension, then go from there. That way it allows the positive and negative chamber to balance (otherwise, the 75psi you put in all at once will be a false reading).
Great build! Jeff can you or anyone else comment on the major differences between the Mojo and the Ripley? I moved out of California to New England and have no place to demo. Trails here are less flow and more like an endless rock garden. Thanks!
When I test rode a RipMo last year, it was a SRAM demo, so they had replaced the Fox stuff with SuperDeluxe/Pike, and it was far and away the plushest mtb experience I have ever had. (The full AXS setup and 3ZERO MOTO rims might have clouded my perspective somewhat, though.) I'm a Shimano fan, but damn, that bike was outstanding.
i love that bikes are so complicated and the part manufacturers (cough fox) make things so confusing that even a pro like you has to rewatch their own videos to figure things out haha
This video makes me want to cry watching it wanting my ripmo af GX, I honestly feel depressed. Ordered on 5/4 and it was supposed to deliver within the month and here I am still 😢
Shucks Cam, I'm sorry to hear that! If it's any consolation, my wife wants a new Ripmo, and we have to wait till DECEMBER to get her a new bike! Stay positive, ride what ya got, and the wait will be worth it!
Ride less, work more so I can afford an Ibis. That's not even a joke. My favorite bike company. I hope they put out an aggressive hard tail like the transition throttle or santa cruz chameleon. I'd be all over it.
I am currently on a 27.5 transition Throttle HT 140 front and love it but my age is starting to catch up with me and need a little cush and the geo is pretty close specially the 425mm CS over my 420CS coming from a BMX background I appreciate short CS,in your Honest opinion can this frame handle the 4 to 5 feet drops on the trail? I know it can handle jumps. Thanks
There's an increase very recently in UA-camrs biting back at the people who comment on there videos and it feels like a band walking on stage before a gig and saying you all suck but here's my new song.its hard to hold back comments when a bikes built with no grease and wrong fork oil used and usually I wouldn't of commented.i love your videos....there different raw and relatable .love from the UK.dont look at it as negative look at it as if we care.
Got to say not the best design for a shock bolt but if you did the rear bolt first with the front of the shock free you could shift the linkage forward and get more room to get a tool in there. Also you put the wrong oil in the damper side of the fork, if that is a grip2 damper it gets 40cc of the Teflon infused 5W oil not the 20w Gold that was the FIT 4 damper.
Great build Jeff, definitely a bike worthy of your aggressive riding style. I’m curious why not the M8120 XT 4 Piston brakes? Also this may seem like a lame question but when you switch the cartridge to the 140mm does it also reduce the fork length? I’m sure you wanna keep the same Geo since I totally feel IBIS is spot on with the M4!
As said already you made a mistake bud, one that is going to be a pain to fix. The damper side takes diff like since it's open bath damper it uses the damper oil in the damper leg which is 5 wt stuff. Going to have to clean out the damper. Easy honest mistake to make but gong to want to fix that very soon so you don't possibly damage the damper with too thick of oil trying to get past the shims and ports.
Hey Jeff.. How's the Mojo feel with a 50mm stem? Wondering if your a fan of shorter stems and if you think going to 40mm would quicken the handling a bit? I'll be getting an M4 soon and am curious what length to go with. My demo ride with 50 felt ok, but I think a 40mm would work without being too cramped. Thanks for any input!
Hey Jeff I know your not sponsored by WTB anymore but I’m deciding on a judge or a trail boss. My conditions are hard pack but slick with very loose climbs. Could you help out? And awesome video man!!
Absolutely loved this bike build video. Can you do more like it in the future?
Probably the best bike build video
Its nice to watch you build as well as ride Jeff! This bell is absolutely adorable 😊
Haven’t seen them in the bikes for a while.
Great video, I loved the introduction and use of that newly designed hammer.
Dude, this is JKW raw! This is how real people do their dream build. Nice bike, great vid!
Awesome bike glad they updated the Mojo, love the humour in this build commentary.
This was a very refreshing take on a classical "no emotion, everything goes perfectly" dream bike build. WELL DONE sir!
Also, just ordered my Mac Ride @10:17 ✌ and I'm well exited to reveal it to my 3,5 year old 😃
I loved your style to make a dream build video... I was not expecting this. Real nice!
“Almost pulled a Walmart’. That’s was gold!
Pure Gold!
Recently saw a UA-cam video of a guy doing drive train upgrades on his rigid fat tire bike... that had the fork installed backward
@@joelrunyan1608 yup. been cringing everytime i see that.
Love that color Jeff.
Oh mu gosh I love theYoann Barelli reference/tribute!!!
This is the first bike build video I’ve watched without getting skipping ahead. Amazing work! Sick bike
Good video. What was the final weight?
This is my favourite bike build ever
Dude this was the must fun I've had watching a bike build video ever!! And we share a similar approach to tools and what they can be used for! Best shop hammer around!! Keep it up
ooof 20wt in the damper side of a grip 2... chart says 5wt teflon jeff :P
Sean’s right. The Grip damper will suck some of that 20 in and mess it up
Ouch... yeah especially since the new grip 2 dampers work based around an open bath system that self bleeds with every use. That damper is gonna be effd up for sure, thicker oil means all the shins and springs are probably gonna get ruined if he keeps running it and it will probably feel good at first but once the oil makes its way into the inners it’s gonna feel stiff as a rock
I was about to comment this
@Concrete Head I am riding, with a plush grip 2 damper
Love the video and I really love the Bad Santa theme song!
27.5 and Chopin will never got out of style
So glad to see bare aluminum hubs with bright spokes Making a come back. The all black wheels look is tired
Super cool bike!

Thanks Ivan! This was a fun build, nothing too crazy on it!
Ibis makes the best riding bikes! I'm glad they didn't give into the Enduro craze with this.
I love your videos mate. 👍
I would love to get my two young boys one of these!!! Awesome bikes.
They love down hill riding! But after my accident there is no way that will ever happen! I can not work again after two neck surgeries!
To expensive ..😭😭😭
Keep up your great work....👍
Cracking me up bud!
Isn't this how we all build bikes? This will work as a hammer+.
This is such a great video, laughed out loud a few times.
Fun video. Fox does make a 36 @ 140mm fork.

I just got the new Rainier. The price, insert length, and the fact it has travel adjust?? Super super impressed. PNW is killing it.

Sick vid!
Thanks Ben!
i laughed so hard watching this. too bad you dont live in Vegas, not that i need an internship, but hey my skillset may dry up one day
have you tried 210x55mm? to bump up the travel some.
She's a beaut, love the video!
Installed the brakes in reverse order as well lol. It doesn’t help I set the bead on my tires in the wrong rotational order as well. Smh
Awesome to start with that...what did we leave loose? I laughed so hard....
Hahaha it's a legit concern!
jeff......you are a beauty. Thanks
cool edit... very calm , no overwhelming music.. humourous... it need a pet to mess ur rythem abit..
I know this is an old video but did he put 20wt on a grip 2 damper?
3:23 ya, I was pretty disappointed to to see a dps spec'd
The ultimate flex is referencing your old YT video
Hahaha well not really, since I don't specify that the Grip 2 damper uses a lighter weight oil!!! Time for a revamp of that old video!
loved the video, awesome bike. Shout out to the "best hammer ever" gotta get me one, lol
no grease on seat post and shock bolts????
Nope. Anti seize is on the Ti shock bolt and carbon assembly parte is on the post
Nice build vid, sic bike. Jenson still only show the 3 on site, not the 4. followed the links though.

You seen the DV9?
This wacky build cracked me up, highly entertaining.
Quick nag though; Grease the bottom bracket threads, and pedal threads 🤓
Thanks Bjorn. Those threads are all well greased, I don't recall if we filmed putting the grease in there tho.
So this is a giveaway right?
Btw where can i apply for the internship Jeff? 😂
Ibis has dominated the 27 5 world.
how good is the piano music in the back ground
Thanks Dee! I quite enjoyed it too!!!

Any chance of fitting a grip 2 with 150mm travel on this puppy? I’m thinking 10mm more wouldn’t/couldn’t hurt.... thoughts?
Any frame wrap on that machine? We want more Chromag vids to 🤘🏼
What grease are you using on your cassette body?
Does fox still use that weird spiral snap ring?
140 is short travel? SC 5010 vs Mojo 4/

I've heard the Vigilante 2.6 are better than the 2.5, is that true?
Ok, but which bell, and can I get it in black?
Hey R, that's the Incredibell Brass Duet. I've only seen it in silver and brass. It's my favorite bell to date.
Need that affiliate link for the hammer...
no grease on the post
Jeff are Tough casings equivalent to Double down?
How much does the bike weigh?
HD4 or Ripley V4?
In an Irish accent: “Were ya going there boy with no bell on yer bike?”
Also since I am an old timer, and fart dirt, I already have a “hammer”...
Hahaha thanks Jim!
Awesome work, you make it look easy!
This bike might be the real "mini-Ripmo"?
how much for one of those hammers?
Clair de lune is a better song than the other dream build videos have...

Hi Jeff, did u used a fork with the recommended 37mm offset?
Yep, it's the 170mm Grip2 36 from my HD5. I now have a Marzocchi Z1 170mm 37mm offset on the HD5.
