Seriously, your videos have brought my mind to a whole new perspective on sewing. It's like going from cooking with recipes only to "free-hand" experimental cooking/cooking by feeling. Except, we went from using store-bought patterns that someone else made to being able to think through how the pattern can be made ourselves! Thank you.
This is the most awesome comment and feedback! Thank YOU so much for giving me the inspiration, what you just wrote is the exact reason why I do this! To think through the patterns, to be guided by our creativity, to have fun and experience sewing on a new kind of level!
I honestly just love the simplicity of these types of tops without the belt. They are so easy to wear, especially in the summer. Great video, and thank you for helping us to make beautiful garments easily. 🤗🌹
I have spent the last five months watching sewing videos and this is by far the best sewing tutorial I've seen. As a beginner, I'm so thankful you take the time to show and tell what you are doing. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work!
Love learning sewing from you! Thank you for sharing your knowledge + wisdom. Hand sewing is soul satisfying + pure joy for me. i m a teensiest bit intimidated by sewing on machine - you helping me overcome that -- after that i tackle-ing the serger! Husband brought a used one home for me as a surprise and i nowhere near even figuring out how to use it yet [but am so thrilled to have it!]
Thankyou for this top you piqued my interest when you mentioned through this tutorial that you can make this top into a dress making it a shirt dress. The hardest thing for me to determine was the hem length because it turns out to be a scoop hemline so I had to make it a bit extra in length to account for sitting down the hemline pops up making shorter than I wanted it. With some effort and a lot of talking under my breath I finally worked it out. It looks nice. But I will leave for a while before I try again. Maybe I will try a softer fabric.
Your channel is absolutely incredible! I always wanted to be able to draft my own patterns and now I can.I have already made the circle top and am also planning to make the cardigan and the bishop sleeved top,but maybe you could show how to measure a boat neckline? That would be amazing! Can't wait to see what you create next.
Hi, all you do, is very nice, simple and beautifullllllllll. Y love way you make the patterns. I made many of your blouses, the cardigan, looks really marvelous. I am happy. Ty ty ty
Thanks again my dear. The both ways looks fabulous. It really took no time to make. I also have one of the bias binding tool but it's 2" and indeed to get the smaller ones for things like these. That linen looks beautiful.
This was a brilliant video. While visiting my cousin yesterday she had a silk dress, £200 the same pattern apart from not having the belt 😱😱. As a beginner I am delighted to have seen this and will be using material in my stash very soon to make several different tops in both jersey and cotton. Simple and elegant design, perfect!
This is wonderful! I’ve watched it before. But I’m almost finished unpacking and going to pick my serger up from the shop- whawhawhaaaaa. My hubby said no sewing until we’re finished.😂 he knows things just wouldn’t get done.
Thank you for sharing this information!! I have been having a hard time finding 100%cotton PJ's so decided to make my own. This will make a great top loose and comfortable. Blessings and Gratitude!!
Than you, miss Lisa!!! This linen worked out so good for it! Did you see the other fabrics I was considering for this top in the members video? I am happy I went with simple white.
So cute!! I'm going to try this!! Thank you for always sharing your great ideas and your wonderful attitude! I love watching your videos full of great ideas and tips!! Thank you 😊
Beautiful, classy and makes a statement. Love it, thank you.😍🥰 I have 3 different color linens in my stash and I can't wait to try this🤗 I wonder how it would look as a dress, hmm
Latoya, I had someone send me a picture of their circle blouse that they made into a swimsuit cover up - not full length dress, but above the knee, in black lace - REALLY cute! I am excited for you to try this ;) oh, and if you go to my "Community" tab on my youtube homepage - there are some inspiration pictures from subscribers that made this blouse and many other garments! :)
Very simple and elegant. However, it would have been super to see it on the backside because I can’t precise if the backside has buttonholes or not... Thanks, very well explained!
Buttonholes go through both layers, so that belt can go through, around your back. You won't be able to make buttonholes through one layer only - and it won't allow you to thread the belt through....
Alissa I love u ⚘ I really never knew that pretty way of stitching the bias tape ...but I would love to see how u put bias on the band hole? How ro determine its size ?
I think it would be helpful to have more guidance on where to start the quarter curve. Should the hem start curving at the waist line, half way between waist and hip, etc? Also, the belt should be cut twice the width of the belt plus seam allowance. You said cut it twice the width.
It is really up to you and your preference, Susan. The main curve is between the hip and waist. If you pause the screen where I drew the curve - you will be able to see it a bit better :)
You can use it, if you are comfortable hemming knit fabric on the curve. If not, you can hem it by hand or if you knit does not unravel and is stable you can opt for leaving the edges as is, just cut them nicely.

Thank you very much for your teaching. I made this top for myself, and its the first piece of clothes I ever made :) I can't believe I could make it!
Great job! You see, if I can do it - then you can do it as well :)

@@evelyngautier3980 I hope it helped! I think I did film the video fo me turning to show the back, but must have deleted as I was editing :(

Very nice work thanks
Beautiful top
Thank you! 😊

It is really up to you and your preference, Susan. The main curve is between the hip and waist. If you pause the screen where I drew the curve - you will be able to see it a bit better :)
At 6:24 in the video I clearly say that none of my patterns are done with seam allowances.
I heard her mention the seam allowance twice.
What do you think about stretch knit fabric?
You can use it, if you are comfortable hemming knit fabric on the curve. If not, you can hem it by hand or if you knit does not unravel and is stable you can opt for leaving the edges as is, just cut them nicely.
I am comfortable hemming it but it doesn’t unravel so I might go for the unfinished route depending on how it looks😉😉. Thank you
Thanks for your sharing
This is really helpful thanks. Please what is the measurements of the largest cutting mat.once again thanks.
Thank you .🌹🌹🌹
