I was expecting and kinda hoping more of the theme would be like 12:25 but what we got was absolutely phenomenal anyways. Planned Obsolescence is still my favorite theme from the 2 games
And this was just the machine at critically low power on the verge of overheating. At full power they’d be pumping out freshly printed Corruptors and Deathbringers non-stop. (Kinda wish they brought Deathbringers back for this DLC now that I think about it)
When the horus was new it was also probably covered in rotary cannons and the various ordinances the deathbringer uses. Like an endless stream of firepower
The Horus Robot is easily the best boss in the franchise; it is well-designed, superbly animated, has a killer soundtrack, and is beautifully cinematic.
I love how the devs new everyone loved the horus and made it so that we would get a side view as too how colossal that beast is compared to a waterwing. And how it looks while walking and didn't just make it stuck in a mountain trying to grab you while you climb its limbs to the core. It's also scary to think that this horus wasn't even at full power at the time of its release. It could've easily just ended aloy with scarabs and a bunch of armaments that were located around its body and without releasing its heat syncs.
The whole fight between Aloy and Horus is a complete fiction. So much bare-ass savage could never. The first and only one blow to the head with a drill would have been enough for her. And then Aloy soaks up a direct hit from rockets like Superman.
Both the soundtrack and the fight could have easily been the finale of the Horizon trilogy. The fact that this is ‘just’ from the DLC of the second game makes me really excited to see how they’ll handle the actual trilogy finale with Nemesis. Not sure what they’re gonna do with it but I am certain that it’s gonna be epic
Judging from how every companion is gathering the tribes and preparing them for war, I'm pretty sure theres going to be a massive battle between the humans and machines that Nemesis either created or corrupted. Nemesis might also wake multiple Horuses at the same time.
Since nemisis is an ai im kinda hoping he’ll try to exterminate life on earth by reviving the faro plague while at the same time trying to destroy gaia. Or that it will take over the couldrons over the world to create its own revolutionized zenith-faro plague.
The soundtrack kind of reminds me of “Dune.” And yeah… Nemesis. I have no idea what they can possibly do to fight something which could pull a Marco Inaros, just sit back and toss asteroids at Earth until it got bored.
From a purely technical standpoint this is the most impressive boss fight I experienced in my 25 years of gaming The fact that this shit works and isn't broken and the the processing going on to render all this stuff. What the hell. Congratulations GG.
The beginning of the third phase really does it for me. The first few seconds really scream: You now have the undivided attention of humanity's strongest weapon.
Man, imagine in the next Horizon game, Aloy will take control over all Horuses to defeat Nemesis. Just imagine a huge army of corrupted by Nemesis machines fighting against Horuses and Faro Palgue robots who were created in captured by Aloy Horuses. And you just see that battle.
Imagine during Operation Enduring Victory, five Horus with full power just broke the Wichita Front without any problems. Those things really come from hell.
It wasn’t just the Horus, but also the swarm of Deathbringers and Corruptors that they could mass produce on the spot. Horus is a walking robot factory..
485.000.000 corruptors 697.000 deathbringers And least a thousand Horus. There were the estimates of the robots produced by the faro plague. I imagine, in an audio that I found in forbidden west, the ships that concentrated their fire on the leading horus but there were at least 6 others arriving, plus those that had already landed on land, in my opinion at least one was arriving from the sea 25-30, and hit the ground, each would release god knows how many Corruptors and deathbringers. Walter London said not even a Horus fleet would stop nemesis, we can assume he has machines of all kinds, maybe even bigger than the eight legged titans. It took the lighthouse plague fifteen months to destroy the world, nemesis could only take two hours, after all, nemesis is much more evolved. May Hephaestus take his cue from this battle against a single horus... as in my opinion he will be our greatest ally in the final battle against Nemesis
It also took a bunch of firepower to even bring one down. Zero Dawn logs states how it took the military time to bring even one down but their losses weren’t even worth the fight.
The theme really illustrates how it feels to fight a metal devil the idea that you are fighting a monstrosity made of metal whose only purpose is to destroy, no matter what. The chorus + the hopeless feel you get gives me goosebumps It’s epic!
I kinda picture Aloy somehow sent back to the Faro Plague, being received by the soldiers back then sort of like the “Angel of Verdun” in Edge of Tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing this! GG *really* hit the nail *hard* with this Ost! Makes it easy to imagine just how horrifying these Titans were at their full potential... not to mention en masse!
This is why i loved HFW and it's dlc so much. This battle easily overshadows everything else I've faced in this game, and in zero dawn. The fact that this machine can easily tower over a tallneck, and your the one who has to fight it, just felt... Unfair 😥
Speaking of Reapers, I began remembering that Reaper boss fight on Rannoch in ME3 while playing through the Horus boss fight and I kept thinking “imagine the Horus with Reaper horns” or “imagine if this was how we took down the Reaper. Not with the Migrant Fleet but with our wits, a few guns, lot of grenades, and a shit ton of biotic blasts” lmao
@@colinnixon7739 I think they would i would just want to see a reaper destroyer vs a horus with no hacks or indoctrination but if it were the reapers vs horizon world reapers would obsoletely win because most of horizon humanity is automated and that will be their downfall
Kinda wanna have the third game have a part of the story where you actually get to retrofit your own for a battle against whoever Nemesis is, like a clash of titans and stuff, or just being able to actually pilot a corruptor or kopesh
I’d been thinking at some point we’d bring one of those old tanks back online (perhaps immobilized) and need to use it to take out the Horus’ foundry while it continually spat smaller Faro variants out at us.
@Ambition Shadow seeing as the official soundtrack is out, I feel like most of the community would still like for you to keep this track as the official tracks feel spliced or not complete yet, this is so fire though
Kinda wish we could have told him about the fate he abandoned his wife to. OD’d on her kitchen floor, faced with the prospect of starving, asphyxiating, or being eaten alive by nanites.

I did. But the thing is, you have to go all the way through the final mission to get to it. Taking down the corruptors, sneaking past them and the giant murder tentacles, the final clamberjaws and destroying the cooling system, all with no near campfire for a save unfortunately.
I assume they turned off the voice and effects volume in the options menu, and left the soundtrack one. This is basically a replay of the Horus boss fight with only the soundtrack.
To be honest, I expected more from the battle with Horus, because this is still a walking factory - so why not give him a small army of invader machines? Gor has a biomass processing system - well, let him process Aloy into bioliquid now! But no, let's treat him like a typical multi-phase fantasy boss.
Yeh, aloy can take it down with a few arrows (regardless of it having been sitting for years), yet the futuristic army of past couldn't take them down? I thought at least we would be picking up those (sorry i forgot - blue shock canisters) and having a multi part battle spanning sky and ground etc to weaken it, then maybe get other robots involved, it all seems a bit short
@@cmelft2463 Yes, I was surprised that people with much more advanced weapons and an army could not take down Horus. And does such a machine really have such a bad cooling system? It seems to me that the creators of the game were a little too lazy to figure out how else to defeat the car.
@@NikitasMartyras They weren't too lazy. Londra activated the Horus through its suit meaning he couldn't activate every single system which Aloy also says.
