I don't know about you, but if I was helping my daughter, I would be feeling a lot of stress. There are so many steps, tricks and not to mention, order of operations and set ups. You handled it beautifully. Dan
Very awesome that y'all did this together! I just took a day class last weekend and made a box similar to this one. It was a hoot messing around and learning.
I always enjoy your videos and projects, but why do you have your table saw blade so high? surely it only needs to be a small bit above the height of the wood to be cut?
Here's an interesting video that explains the effect of blade height on a cut. ua-cam.com/video/JL8-1bmt7XY/v-deo.html. In my case, sometimes I intentionally raise the blade to address some of these factors; sometimes I want to leave it at a set height if I need to switch back to a dado set where I've already set the height; and sometimes I'm just too lazy to lower it.
@@Woodumakeit Thank you for that. The video was very helpful - sorry if my previous comment came across as a little harsh - I am still a novice with a table saw. Your points were valid.
Great project for you and your daughter but wow, several instances of dangerous table saw behavior! Blade too high, not pushing the wood through the blade, push stick could be much wider to provide better support. It would be terrible to have a serious injury while doing something so good.
Agreed. I am glad he caught her moving the board backward through the blade, but it'd be better if he hadn't done it earlier when showing her how to use the push stick. I wouldn't use that push stick either though...almost safer to use a hand on those super wide cuts. But a push block is the best solution. And the blade height and pushing all the way through which you mentioned too would have been good to look @
Maybe more father daughter saw safety and fundamentals needed .that wenge sawing was dangerous for her. and Im no safety salley. 40 years ,still got all ten digits
Its nice to see younger generation learing, but safty is always the first lesson, to much jewellery on and dangling bracelets and hair, in close proximity to spinning blades,
The tiny bit of spalting in the sapwood is great. The box looks great. The chessboard/butcher block top is a nice touch.
Always excited for a wood u make it video, this was great!
What a cool project! Great job to both of you!
That's really cool & we'll thought out. I love the height of the tabs and sides to make it easy to flip through.
Glad you clarified who's boyfriend it is.
Wonderful father, charming apprentice! Oh, and a great little box! 🙂
Very nice work, as always! Love how the dividers turned out!
Awesome project! Great gift! She did a wonderful job (under your guidance, of course)!
So thoughtful and beautiful!
Nice family Mike. Your daughter is your twin, except she’s pretty.

They’re twins

Kat bf is awesome in the kitchen.. Kat stated hes even better in the bedroom or the back of the car. In fact anywhere
What a creepy thing to say to a father...
That is inappropriate and uncalled for. Grow up or sober up.

So I did it too :D just using Stodoys woodworking plans :)
Love it, but make sure she ties that hair up! Hate to see a pretty young lady end up as bad as this old man.
