Knowing R* security practices, I'm predicting an RCE exploit is going to be found in the next 2 months giving hackers kernel level access to your computer trough GTAO.
No, because BattlEye is already used in a multitude of games and nobody has found such exploit on it yet. Rockstar has nothing to do with securing this part.
@@essess8023 Exploits is a general term, mod menus use exploits in the games code to work, to bypass an anti-cheat you need to find an exploit in it's code or detection systems, exploits aren't just game glitches that give you an advantage.

@@px8 "BattleEye Is required to play GTA Online, Please Enable BattleEye and restart GTA V" Do you think people would be this pissed off if it were as simple as a launch option?
To enable BattlEye on Linux, the dev has to do the exhausting job of... Ticking a checkbox on their BattlEye dashboard. Obviously if you do that it won't run in kernel on Linux, but you're not gonna see a noticable (if any) increase of cheaters because of the marketshare.
Thata's not true. The dev just needs to implement a seperate runtime for Linux. Currently gta v is being emulated on linux. You can't accurately emulate the kernel currently.
@@GTAWWEKID It's not being emulated, it is being "translated". (Windows system calls to Linux system calls). While the runtime thing is true, BattlEye already has Linux support, no?
@@GTAWWEKID BattleEye runtime already implemented for linux by BattleEye devs. Steam already can distribute it for games that need it. It works both with native and emulated/translated games.
As a Linux player, this sucks ass. Imagine screwing hundreds of players because you don't wanna press the enable button to make the anti-cheat compatible with a whole platform.
This whole kernel level anti cheat thing for GTA Online is such a joke. Rockstar pulled some random anti cheat software with kernel level access and didn’t even bother checking if it’s compatible with all systems. Now, Linux and Steam Deck users are locked out of playing online, all because Rockstar was too lazy to update their own in-game anti cheat. Instead of fixing the real issues, they just slapped this thing in and hoped for the best. The worst part? Having kernel level access in a game as cheaty as GTA Online is a recipe for disaster. Cheaters already run wild in the game, and now mod menus can potentially get kernel level access too. This isn’t just about stopping cheaters, it could lead to major security risks and mess up people's computers even more. It’s like Rockstar didn’t think this through at all and just made everything worse. Good job, Rockstar. Once again showing us how to not handle anti cheat in a game full of cheaters.
I think it’s worth providing an actually playable experience for 99% of people at the expense of the few which choose to use Linux. And it’s on Valve to make their platform easy for anti cheat developers to work with
@@zachb1706 So basically, you're saying it's fine to alienate a chunk of the player base just to maybe provide a better experience for the majority? First off, it's not just a few people using Linux and Steam Deck, those numbers are growing. And second, Rockstar should be held accountable for not putting in the effort to make their anti cheat system work for all players, regardless of platform. It’s not about Linux being “difficult,” it’s about Rockstar being lazy and throwing in a kernel level anti cheat without checking for compatibility or potential issues. Plus, having a kernel-level anti-cheat is risky as hell for everyone, not just Linux users. It opens up security issues and allows cheaters who know how to bypass it to cause even more chaos. Rockstar’s move wasn’t about providing a better experience, it was about cutting corners, and that’s a problem for all players, not just the 1% on Linux.
@@zachb1706 “Yes” is a pretty vague reply for a complex issue. If your only argument is to dismiss the concerns about how Rockstar’s decision impacts everyone, it doesn’t really address the core problem. It’s not just about prioritizing one group over another; it’s about the broader implications of implementing an invasive kernel level anti cheat system that wasn't properly tested for compatibility. Rockstar’s approach to solving the cheating problem seems more like a shortcut that’s ended up causing more harm than good. Security risks and compatibility issues affect all players, not just those on specific platforms. Simply agreeing with the notion that some players are sacrificed for the sake of others doesn’t solve the problem or make the situation better. It’s about finding a solution that actually works for everyone, without compromising the safety and enjoyment of the game.
@@stormdesertstrike supporting Linux is demonstrably more difficult than Windows. The Linux Kernel updates more frequently with less care given to backwards compatibility, and the ecosystem is far more fragmented with each distro modifying the kernel in some way. What you’re asking is developers spend much more time to support barely any users. Really it’s on companies like Valve to work with anti cheat developers to streamline the process
from experience battleeye doesn't help. all it does it stuck it self to your kernel and just sit there and make Linux users unable to play at all. battle eye works on linux but devs don't like enabling it for some reason i just believe that blocking linux users fully shouldn't be the default.

Devs of paid mod menus already reporting succesfully bypassing BE only 24h after the update, so they will be back to crashing public lobbys within a week at least. At this point all that R* did is monetizing modding protection for a 10 year old game. I will most likely stay away from GTAO completely.
You've said an interesting point. I myself have used a small mod menu, but when you go into a public lobby, you find out that it's almost needed since it's oh so fun spawning into a lobby in either your apartment or yatch only to suddenly get killed by some troll modder. I remember years ago Rockstar actually did sometimes hardware ban people for modding on PC. But this was before Doomsday Heist so it's been 7 years. Cheating in GTA Online has been a huge issue so it's good that they finally address it after all these years but the fact that they couldn't be bothered to take a few minutes to enable the Linux support option and instead rather double down on it really doesn't bode well for whatever they'll do for GTA VI.
I’ve heard some people speculate that GTA VI will be delayed. In my opinion, which is worth little to nothing, it’s likely that GTA VI will be delayed. In fact, RDR2 was delayed three times. 11:39
GTA 6 probably won't launch with a new version of GTA Online. People seem to forget Red Dead Online didn't come until at least a couple months after Red Dead Redemption 2 released, and even then it launched in Beta. We'll probably see a very similar setup for GTA Online 2.

Rockstar making horrible decisions once again causing legit players to suffer instead of the cheaters. Anticheat is useless and is already bypassed and just causes the legit players to have bad FPS and other issues, funny how this game was praised for being able to run on even a potato pc before this garbage update.
Or just work around whatever detection is present around it like every paid menu already does. It doesn't matter what method. And it's not about Story Mode, because before, there was no detection on Story Mode because it was an unspoken rule that modding and playing around in Story Mode was allowed. If this garbage does cover Story Mode, then all Rockstar is doing is forcing everyone who doesn't play entirely vanilla to bypass this crap. They are the most clueless and braindead AAA company on the face of the Earth. All they've been doing since 2022 is breaking every aspect of playability and fun in their games and they abandoned RDO before they even established a full baseline for profitability/playability, leaving all RDO players stuck in a nerfed beta. Nerfing the MK2 for mindless/clueless Gen Z instead of removing player lock-on, patching job warping which completely destroyed innocent fast travel for the first time ever since inception for no good reason and offering NO alternative on PC, and nerfing heists and buffing cooldowns to simply discourage all game play. Ubisoft and EA are everyone's first line of complaint, yet they are not as low as Rockstar has become... GTA VI, when it comes in 2025,26,27 to PC (console first = another FAIL), will be a woke piece of humorless trash. RDR2 was already a bloated piece of unoptimized trash, the story loaded with Disneyisms and 21st century crap. GTA V was the last real game they ever made.

I suppose they'll release GTA V Gen9 on PC because GTA VI will most likely come out on consoles first and then on PC years later down the road. I know that GTA V was delayed on PC due to issues that Rockstar had, but I think it would make sense for them in their weird logic.
one thing i predict is that R* put battleye to see what they can do to eliminate most of the modders, since R* loves doing their own things, battleye might just being used as a experiment, if battleye do something good, they add on a new anti-cheat, battleye mess up something, they try to do a solution to it and reaching a good spot where modders still exist cuz is impossible to get rid of them, but they become just like a 5% of the community and hopefully just lefting the chill modders and the few as possible modders that want to make the game shit for u, that's what i predict
Yep, every decent paid menu will have a 100% workaround within a week. A few comments on your videos from a long time game modder: Kiddeons already said they were shutting down before rockstar announced the anti-cheat, it had nothing to do with bypassing it. Two of the biggest paid cheat provided did already bypass the anti-cheat as it is implemented very badly into the game. My friend found that bypassing just 6 checks that rockstar does the game will let you launch into online without battleye enabled so some of us already have our private menus working. Additionally battleye is really only good at detecting public cheats, so the modders that were using very advanced exploits (usually the ones that affect streamers) are not super affected by this once they all eventually bypass the anti-cheat. By far the biggest thing battleye will do is hardware bans. Bans from gta v were bypassed by just making a new account, but now you either need to purchase a spoofer (usually 30-60 CAD a month or buy an entire new pc whenever you get banned. Love the content matto :)
You dont need to purchase a spoofer. On unknown cheats you can download a spoofer for free and in one button press you have bypassed a HWID ban. HWID bans are completely pointless on PC. They only work on consoles where parts are married to the motherboard.

The short answer? *No* The long answer? *No* Mod menu makers unironically understand the code of the game better than the devs and in a few days all the better paid menus will be back,if not stronger
Honestly. I use mod menus, just to create more content for GTA Online i.e. two weeks before R* added drag races. I made a script (with a web leaderboard) for drag races. I often got almost full public lobbies just having fun with cars and racing. Obviously, a better solution is just to make a FiveM (or similar alternatives) server and it's much easier... But then you'd have a smaller audience, and you'd have to focus on actually getting players on your server.
So they decided to wait until GTA 6 was just around the corner to fix the game they made over a decade ago. Nice. Well at least we know GTA 6 may have anti-cheat but it’s definitely going to be full of micro-transactions in the online.

The goal is to prevent most people (those who are easily discouraged by anti-cheats such as BattlEye) to generate money easily instead of buying Shark Cards. Also, if if gets some people banned and forced to buy another copy of the game to play again, all the better. It's purely a financial decision, nothing to do with "improving the user's experience"
the whole community are getting pissed on instead of rain. and the fact that r* used an ac system that was completely reverse-engineered by some people makes it even better.
As far as GTA VI Online, I could see them doing something where you can bring your character over, but it would only keep the looks. Maybe you could get a returning player bonus (we probably will either way), but not so much that it would make it suck to just be a new player. So come up with some story where your empire in Los Santos has collapsed and you've had to move to Vice City to start over.

WHY SO SERIOUS!?!?! 🤡👹🤡👹🤡
@@stormdesertstrike yes

What alot of people don't understand about free mod menus, is that a big majority of people used them for their protection features against toxic modders, as public sessions are basically unplayable without them. You've said an interesting point. I myself have used a small mod menu, but when you go into a public lobby, you find out that it's almost needed since it's oh so fun spawning into a lobby in either your apartment or yatch only to suddenly get killed by some troll modder. It is very unplayable without being able to protect yourself, so unless you can gather up a group of friends, you're kinda SoL now which sucks to hear since I don't expect Battleeye to honestly do much in the grand scheme, just stopping the light modders when in reality it's the heavy/paid modders who you need to watch out for.

battle eye is one of the easiest anticheats to bypass, and the easiest one to bypass with spoofed serials
A few comments on your videos from a long time game modder:
Kiddeons already said they were shutting down before rockstar announced the anti-cheat, it had nothing to do with bypassing it.

4:30 exactly. battleye is so old that they already do that and that's the reason ubisoft dropped it
Oh BattleEye....great what a terrible anti cheat to add to the game
Personally i think the battle eye is mainly for gta 6. The expanded and enhanced is there to help bring more players in to test the modding scene online
The short answer? *No* The long answer? *No*
Mod menu makers unironically understand the code of the game better than the devs and in a few days all the better paid menus will be back,if not stronger
But then you'd have a smaller audience, and you'd have to focus on actually getting players on your server.
too little too late
Yay finally 🥰
I don't have a pc and I got Bored of gta online 2 gens ago but....YAYYY🎉
So they decided to wait until GTA 6 was just around the corner to fix the game they made over a decade ago. Nice.
Well at least we know GTA 6 may have anti-cheat but it’s definitely going to be full of micro-transactions in the online.
As Matto says... Barriers to entry. They're raised the barrier to entry for cheats, so less people will bother. Of course there still will be people that will, just less now.
Man I just wanted to go around in God mod without disturbing anyone but now I don't even have that now perfect
Ironically the "low barrier" entry cheats is what I used to not get killed by 100 dollar nuke mods.
@@shibukamiya8428 exactly, this is only going to affect the normal players using mods to keep enjoying the game with all the cheaters and griefers going around, good thing I don't play the game anymore.
@@BxPanda7 fk the online I want to play singleplayer with supreme mods and on my day-off I rather play it but R* decided otherwise with their "cant update - cant play" policy...

still cheating
They f*cked steam deck support
As a long time player it's like a slap in the face because if you think about it they're only doing it as a test run for GTA 6 which means that the long time player base throughout the years was not worth all the effort of giving them an anti cheat system.
So to me, despite this being a good change, it feels like we are just the test objects for the upcoming big thing.
Nonetheless i'm still happy that they're finally doing something about it.
even if the ac is jackshit, it is still brilliant to see r* is caring about the community even if it’s a little late
lol
lmao they're not caring at all. They're just testing anti-cheat in GTA 5 in preparation for GTA 6, I'm guessing we'll have anti-cheat on release.
So you'd have that as your intro as a returning player or something more like how GTA V Online started if you're just starting from scratch.
YES
WE NEED TO PITCH THAT TO ROCKSTAR SOMEHOW
battleye sucks 👍
the day of you uploading this is the same day mod menus devs already found a workaround , and for legit players it made it even more unplayable bc modders are force hosting in order to stay in the session , and to make matters worse apperantly (im not 100% sure about this ) but theres a group of people most likely pissed off modders actively ddosing the R* servers
