Considering it was originally 50 minutes, I've done fairly well to chop it down :P Also if you want to know when I'm posting videos and see more of what I get up to in life then I suppose you could check out this bad boy -> IG: elise.acrossthechannel. I want to be able to do the swipe up thing but apparently you need 10k followers to do that soooooo ... I'm about 9500 shy of that (so close lol) ... anyways if you feel like following me on there it would be greatly appreciated and maybe one day I'll be able to do the 'swipe up' for this video
Well, your Dutch was fine for pretty much everything though you did butcher "Begeren" & you know what? I loved it. 😆 They're great at guessing the translations, which're even better if you know both languages.
Ja, een beetje raar om als Nederlander je uitspraak van Nederlandse woorden af te kraken, terwijl in Engeland elke Nederlander wordt gecomplimenteerd voor de beheersing van het Engels als er drie verstaanbare Engelse woorden uitkomen. Je Nederlands is prima.

I was about to make the very remark in the comment section they make at 22:50 ... the majority of most books is about Harry f*****g around with objects he probably should have stayed far away from in the first place, so that wasn't the smartest question to ask :) An entertaining video, for those of us that love(d) Harry Potter.
Just wanted to ask if you and your sister are allright. Because I saw a blonde streak in your hair and your sister looks like Elsa, so that can only mean one thing. That she couldn't control her ice-powers and accidentally shot ice in your heart and now you're freezing and Kristoff has to- Wait nevermind we were talking about Harry Potter, not Frozen. Edit; Okay, I continued watching, you said; 'Let it go" and now I'm right back on the subject.
This may come as a surprise to you, but Dutch babies cannot speak Dutch at birth. We have the habit of teaching them Dutch first and then foreign languages such as German, French and English. Translating a children's book like Harry Potter makes perfect sense :-)
Not everyone likes to read English even though they're capable of speaking the language. I read the dutch books, however I might sometime in the future also read the english books. I kinda prefer english books nowadays.
Because many of us like the language we speak :) Lots of things, in (for example Amsterdam) the Netherlands have turned into a permanent English thing. Some shops just answer in English, no matter who calls, they have no Dutch workers. You have to try and explain your problem in English, even if you're an older lady that doesn't speak English. Some shops have English websites or ask you to 'score their store' instead of asking us; 'Wat vind je van onze winkel?' They offer 'to go' instead of 'meenemen' and in some cases, it gets ridiculous. De Leische Universiteits Bibliotheek recently wanted to be hip and changed their name to 'Leiden University Library.' Not only does it take away the meaning of University (a university in the Netherlands is not just refering to a school, it's the term for one of the highest level of education. Anything else is called 'opleiding', which is what Americans call a university.) But even worse, the abbreviation is now LUL, which is a rude word for penis in Dutch. So you ask; 'Hey Brenda, mind if we meet at the dick later on? I left my books there.' 'Sorry where?' 'At the dick!' 'Right, see you at the dick then.' Assuming we will accept a new language as a new permanent part of our society is like asking why a woman with a few blonde highlights in her brown hair, didn't just go fullon platina. p.s. Just for the Dutch, because I don't know if the English ones are able to appreciate and understand, but there is a Fb page called 'Onnodig Engels Taalgebruik' and it has many examples like the LUL-Library and a baker selling warm piss (or at least, that's what the translation says...he was trying to be hip and use English mixed with Dutch.)
While I am Dutch I have only read the books in English, and this quiz was surprisingly hard for me :).

Since everyone in The Netherlands speaks English, why were the books translated into Dutch?

I have never read any of the books and I have never seen a movie of Harry Potter. This was a strange video and I didn’t watch it to the end. Sorry.
