Have to watch your vids twice. I get so interested that I forget to hit LIKE the first time.
I can’t recall ever seeing John so sharply dressed. Very nice.
Great build. I love making little organizers out of all the off-cuts I end up with. Plus, if you have more holders than tools, it's a good excuse to make more tools!
Thanks John! Always enjoy your videos. Organizers like that are another valuable tool in there own right.
Was just kicking around a tool rack around my anvil and our base are almost identical...... Thanx for the idea
The tool storage is as evolving as the tools, luckily it is always continuing. Thank you for sharing your next steps. 👏
I like the “make it up as you go along” idea. Thanks, John.
Your videos are always a treat. Take care!!
Glad you like them!
I always get a dose of healthy satisfaction when I make something useful out of bits of scrap. I'm not a blacksmith, but something like this would come in handy 👍
Great video today John. Exactly what I did to see as I am setting up my Blacksmithing shop. Seeing where to put my tools and tooling. Thanks so much for the awesome and very helpful video. Turned out very well there John. Hopefully you get great use out of it my friend. Can't wait to see more videos. Always great learning from your videos and other great guys here on UA-cam. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend John. Forge on. Keep Designing. Fab on. Weld on. Keep making. God bless
Man, Awesome variation of content. It is really refreshing and inspiring to see how you tackle the little dilemmas involved in smithin. Thank you for sharing your set up! Keep doin what you are doin!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a new anvil that is requiring similar treatment. (OK it's 40 years old, but it's new to me. a good Swedish anvil) I've always improvised, but now I actually get to set up a shop. exciting stuff. great video, thanks
Great job John, saving steps does help !! The tool holders and swing tray are big helper. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Hello John
Thank you for this little inspiering Video
Take care have a good week

My day job is steel fabricator. Started 50 years ago. Nothing was new to me, but I always enjoy your videos. Great video John!
This is such an amazing channel and I come here often as a beginner
Love the swinging table idea gonna add that later on now
I like the no-paint rustic look of the rack as well as the grilled shelf which allows scale to sprinkle through.
It would be nice painted, but I would rather get it up and then get back to work
The swingaway/removable shelf makes it worth the ticket price! 🐾🔥⚒🧙♂️
Very quick way to make rack. Super cool.👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Another great video, and +1 for Ken's, I'm still working my way through a set of their tong blanks, and it's super satisfying to use the ones I've made on projects I'm working on! So glad they're sponsoring you!!
I have been thinking about making a rack for my anvil. This gave me some ideas.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I'm 62 years old and trying to get started as a hobby, possibly supplemental retirement income.
Thank you so much for all of your great content!
I made one of this about a year ago. But when I see a pro working, mine seens to be awful! Great job as allways, Master John! Greetings from Brazil!
I like the tool rack John!
John, EXCELLENT IDEA. I have some racks around my shop but, I think I like your idea best. I'm going to think about the options I need. THANKS, as ALWAYS, GREAT VIDEO!!
On my list of needs. Just threw together a file rack to store a bunch of inherited files so I can think in my shop space again!
Looks like a great idea sir. Never thought of making one like that
A very sensible idea. I was about half way through making something similar when I stuffed my shoulder.
Nice setup and great ideas, thank you John.
I pretty much copied Your design for my Kohlswa european style anvil. It used to ring badly especially on the horns but now it just says "tock". Made the block of wood held together with caulk and 12mm threaded rods and hot drove a fabricated square iron band on to the top. Welded the bolt nuts and the tool holders directly to that.Put a layer of black marine polyurethane caulk under the anvil. Polyurethane is known to dampen vibrations very well and I think it is somewhat better than silicone's for this. I almost never feel the need to walk around the anvil to the other side, so keeping some often used hammers and tools there is great for me. Thanks again for the inspiration to do this which should have been done long ago...
Looking too snazzy for the shop there John, thanks for the video!
That was great! Now I’ll have to build myself something
Good morning from Utah. Stay awesome my friend
I appreciate you keeping your mistake in there.
Like the big power hammer
Yep, just in time, my new bigger and better anvil is just about to be mounted and the tool shelf system I used before is way out of date and at times a big pain! Thanks for the ideas, that hinged shelf is one I will defiantly use!
Glad I could help
I learned a little . If I had Don that be for watching I would have put them on a bottom that open bottom was definitely a sighn of experience and good common sence 👍
THANK you for sharing!
My pleasure!
I do the same with my lathe tools. I prefer leather strap around my anvil base. It takes the hardy or pritchel tang smoothly and without projecting out too far. Im still a proponent of non prefab....nice rack!
good enough is best
I like you use a bolt and not a nail to hold things in place.
It serves the purpose.
I use a series of adjustable chain loops.
Handy!
@black bear forge Do you have a video by chance of making that anvil shelf? or showing it off? that looks super handy. keep up the great work!!!!
Im guessing the other side will have a rack too within six months. Maybe one that pivots like the shelf, maybe stationary. Good idea anyway. John's idea not mine.
We'll John I have a confessing to make , I have all ready stolen your design even the swing out shelf . And it works like a dream . Cheers . :)
I doubt this is original enough that it would be stealing
Do you have a video where you make the swing out shelf/table? That's a really nice add on to an anvil stand.
I Don't think so. It should fairly self explanatory.
Good information to evolve my workspace. By the way - did the oil of your forgepress run out? Ground looks a bit oily
Can you do a walk around for your welding set up? Is the lincoln generator just a power source for the shop or what?
While that is both welder and generator, I have power in the shop and just use it as a welder. It then runs to a wire feeder for mig welding
LMAO im literally building my new tool rack for my new anvil stand as soon as this weather eases up
May or may not see this but I've been watching some of your vids on candlesticks. Have a question about twists, I"ve seen a lot of people twisting square tube, solid stock square and round. What I have not seen is anyone twist round pipe, does nobody do that or is it just a bad idea to twist round hollow pipe?
Interesting how come you need a generator to weld? Is the mains not strong enough?
Its because the generator is the welder.
I was wondering if the Ken tongs are any good? They are made from mild steel. Don't we want to stay away from tools made from mild steel?
Yes they are good tongs, particularly as a starter set. Mild steel is ideal for most tongs. Tool steel for tools that need to hold an edge or are used for striking.
@@BlackBearForge thank you!
Where did you get your William Bastas hammer from?
From William, many years ago
Cool job if interested should check out JLc blacksmith she has a cool tool holder
anyone how dislikes does not understand art
