I'm bothered that I wasted my youth getting high, should've been wrestling in high school. Making up for it now, clean, training BJJ years now. This channel is a blessing, hope for much success to you 🙏
They are alot of upper body throws from Judo and Greco Wrestling too. You don't always have to go for the legs with stand up. In fact, I rarely do. I never teach double legs or single legs in the takedown classes I teach. I see too many beginners go for them and get headlock/guillitoned. Shots are just a lot riskier in BJJ. I know single/double work but they have to be set up.
@@jonathanwilliams1746 Grip fighting. Take downs and grappling in general all start with grip fighting. If you learn to hand fight as in get dominate grips and manipulate people's posture and or balance you can throw people a lot easier. Learn how to do a proper underhook. Learn how to do a proper collar tie. Then you can start with ankle picks. They are less risky than single/double leg takedowns. Or learn a few takedowns form front headlock since it's easy to get most people's head down.
Thank you so much! This is so helpful you guys are awesome. I remembered my first BJJ competition as a white belt and I spent 3 months starting on my knees in the gym. So when I had my match, standing up totally threw me off. I got taken down and embarrassed the hell out of myself. Lol since then, I made it a priority to get good at wrestling. Still a work in progress but this video is so helpful. Thank you again
As above so below. The same laws govern guard and wrestling, and they flow into each other. Everything in grappling is about polarity. Limbs up or down. Turn towards or away. Grab one or two legs. Control with one hand or both. Dilemmas.....Opposites are identical in nature but different in degree
Thank you Coach your method is clear and concise and applicable. Love the simplified outline instead of making it complicated. I kinda miss the arrow graphics but this is a great outline not a breakdown
i'm a brazilian blue belt(gile ribeiro), and here we dont have wrestlers in gym, or at all, i wish we have wrestling in our schools too. i cant even find a wrestling gym in my city, but the jiu-jitsu, i can find 6 gym in least than 5 blocks aways.
I was hoping you could answer something I’m a bjj purple belt with absolutely no takedowns. I want to start learning wrestling should I start learning single leg double leg or by pass shots and use upper body take downs
Watch this video in it's entirety. There isn't one concrete answer as all athletes vary, but this is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/jhMAU5eKytg/v-deo.html

So well explained. So many videos teach you one technique after another but none explained the overall strategy.

Great video. As a beginner, it's very helpful to have a basic concept to grasp onto.

Most wrestlers have bad knees. Hit they side ways.
Wrestling without Jiu-Jitsu skills in MMA isn't very useful.
