These Auto Series are so much very informative on learning about cars and how to pin point the problems. I wish I had came across these video series a long time ago. Such a car repair blessing from above.
This reminds me about mechanical vibration class at high school. A essential topic that all automotive engineers must be considered when develop all type of components.
Good explanation though from a related field is when people thing of the guys that do suspension fixes they think they only changing out coil springs, leaf springs , or struts but a very important part of the suspension is sway bar/stabilizer bars and controlling arms ( both lower and upper (if you have upper)). Noise can be caused by balljoints/bushings on upper/lower controlling arms.
Very good, actually i have look how to found the vibration source for my jimny long. And the definition 15 30 60hz is quite enough to know where the problem come from, thanks
What about spark plugs they cause the systoms you are talking about it can also be CV joints, driveshalf, spark plugs that cause vibrations at all speeds .
My 95 Lexus sc300 vibration after transmission replacement was driveshaft center support Mecanic fixed I was only able to drive in speed limit 20 over that it was vibrating like crazy
Hi. Where do you put the weight if you have a 60Hz problem? So in which position in the longitudinal axis ? at the very back, in the middle of the middle bearing or at the very front ?
SPARK PLUGS are cheap enough to see if it them, then buy ngk iridium spark plugs. Make sure your plugs are change every 20-40.000km for longer life and performance. There much easyier and other things like cv's, Driveshalf, axle, tyres, spark plugs, engine mounts, are just some things.
I have been facing vibration or engine roaring for years. I spent almost 500 bucks on the overall suspension and bushing, mounts foundation, exhaust steering and everything. Still the problem exists. When I accelerate in stationary state or without moving the car, vibration comes through whole body and it badly annoys inside the cabin. The solution that mechanic finds is bushing between engine and its frame . And its still a gamble to invest. I dont know what to do. Kindly guide that why this vibration or engine roaring comes from? It sounds truck or diesel vehicle.
my car has this noise coming from the right drive shaft. this has consistently caused damage to the inner CV joint. What is the best way to get rid of this vibration as i have changed CV joints 5 times this year alone.
There is a mistake in the video.. at 16:42, I think the denominator should be circumference of the wheel rather than radius.. it is read out currently but the equation is wrong..
Correct. The first equation should be distance covered in 1 second / wheel diameter (which would be 2*Pi*R as per the second equation when it's completed).
The videos and the style of display are far far better. But the style of narrations of certain portions are not clear, especially TECHNICAL Words. We , people of Kerala speaking English in a special style; not colloquial style , but crisp & clear. We are not getting time to interact with English people to acquire colloquial style. We people are pronouncing English using Phonetics and English grammar. So my suggestion may not be mitigated....... very very thanks.... SAGAR. Punalur,Kerala,India.
my car start vibrating after a while on the highway. when i slow down enough it stops. then i accelerate again to high speed no problem and it sometimes comes back after a while again. any ideas?
You need to change the title. "Noise caused by vibration"......Or "Sounds made from vibration"... Not noise and vibration. Never explained brake noises or valves unless I missed something
bearing are good, control arm brand new, sway bar link and bar bushing new, tie rod perfect, new tires, alignment, 4 new motor mounts, new front struts, and rear shocks, new both side cv axles, whole brand new front brakes, new ball joints, good spark plugs, new wires, and new coil. new Engine filter cleaned PCV, IACV, throttle body, MAFS. I can't replace the whole car. still the vibration. ---- Can the vvt valve oil control create this vibration? Engine oil is Synthetic and replaced every 5 K miles with an OEM filter. Vibration is still there after all these things, so now what? Finding these problems is not that easy at all.
Follow the video. Think critically about what conditions the vibration occurs during, like whether it's vehicle speed or engine speed, then using the vehicle/engine speed that it occurs during, apply the formula in the video to work out what frequency (Hz) the vibration is, then that value will indicate whether it's something in the tires/wheels/axles, or the propshaft, or the engine/transmission. Throwing money/parts at it won't help, unless the money goes to a technician that knows what he's doing.
@@cbh148 Thank you. I don't think the technician will know more than I do after I have been replacing parts and haven't gotten into the real problem. Technician wants to start from zero, so that means do the same I have done, that's stupid. all the technician wants is money. I took it to the dealer and they have it for 2 days doing nothing at all, cause they don't even drive the car. the dealer saw I was prepared, and have done almost everything so they can not take any money from me. If I started from zero and the problem was still there why technician did not follow or tried to go from there? ----- Technicians are liars.
@@irisbaez1972 i don’t think randomly replacing parts does much for you other than expensively and slowly eliminating items from a big list. More importantly than all that - what Hz frequency did your calculations indicate based on the content of this video? Did it align with a wheel speed type of vibration or a prop shaft version or was it an engine speed style of vibration behavior/conditions? You know, _actual_ diagnostics.
@@cbh148 Vibration started since I turn the car on, putting in gears or even turning on A/C doesn't increase or decrease the vibration. I thought maybe the car is cold so this doesn't change after warm. Then when pushing the gas pedal feel the same after I reach 50 to 60 mph when I feel like a tire is loose or hub/bearing or even the cv axles, that's why I replace all those parts. I checked the rims as well. There are no codes, even the dealer didn't find any. These problems started 2 years ago.
@@irisbaez1972 You’re saying it makes the vibration any time the engine is running, even if you’re not moving (like when you’ve just started the engine)? If so, then yeah a CV joint / wheel bearing / hub won’t be creating any noise because they only spin when the car is moving.
I've spent more hours than I'd like to admit chasing a vehicle vibration. I've watched countless videos but this one wins!! This is gold.
I worked at Toyota dealer, I actually remember watching this as part of the training

this is so informative, i so love the explanation. i give this a 5 star.
Excellent video to give you lots of ideas to troubleshoot and trace the fundamental cause of that pesky vibration source ** 10 / 10 ** Toyota ! 👍

This is GOLD STANDARD info!
This is so good. Thanks Toyota.
Very professional video. The best of its kind like TOYOTA.

I took automotive course and they never teach us this. I guess its only for Toyota tech

God, I wonder how many sensors will be on cars that can fly.
The clowns at my local Toyota dealership told me the only noise they heard was the indicator signals ! I have a faulty steering damper!

The problem is that today's vulcanizers balance quickly, automatically and expensively, without taking into account the wishes of the car owner
does anyone know where can the Vibration frequency analyzer can be bought?
