  • How has it already been ONE MONTH with my Rebel 1100?! This month has flown by! I figured I'd take the time to go over exactly what my first month with the new Honda Rebel was like by going over everything I've done with the bike, the pros and cons of the bike, my future plans with the bike, how the Rebel 1100 compares to the Rebel 500, and whether I regret upgrading from my Honda Rebel 500 to my Honda Rebel 1100!
Of course, in typical LifeOfBurch fashion, I couldn't just give you a boring review, so we headed to grab some Rise Up Coffee and some tacos from my favorite local taco truck while I went over the one month review of my Rebel 1100! It's an unbeatable combo!
Thanks for watching, and be sure to follow me on Instagram for more daily stuff! @Life.Of.Burch

I wish an after-market company would make a perfectly fitting LARGER gas tank for this bike. It really needs a 5+ gallon tank. Add some after-market shocks (plus some wind protection, a rear rack, and a dry duffle bag) and this could be the perfect light solo-touring machine (especially for smaller riders). The biggest hole in the industry is the lack of touring machines designed for smaller people. Most of the touring bikes are 650 to 1000 lbs.

Totally, loving riding the rebel 500. I've been one since i was in high school (40 yrs ago). Like i said totally loving riding it. I've already changed the oil, put the back seat on and planning to order the back rest (sissy bar). I just watched your post about the back rest. God bless ya and protect ya on all your rides. Greetings from the UK! My wife will have a serious look at this bike once we are out of lockdown. She's not the tallest and has a couple of long term orthopaedic issues (the result of years playing field hockey) and so will probably try the DCT version. Therefore your reviews are so helpful. Funnily enough, at the same time I am looking at a VFR 800...

I'm stoked your loving the new bike mate! I was all set to replace my 500 with a manual 1100 In red, but after consuming some web content surrounding the new Rebel I don't think I will. Not because it doesn't look like an amazing bike but because Its just not exactly what I thought it would be. I expected it to be an evolution of the Rebel 500 in every aspect. But it shares many of the 500's negative traits, namely the suspension and fuel range. I think I'd be better served by a 650 class naked bike like Hondas own CB650R or the new Triumph Trident. Keep up the great content, even if I move away from the Rebel platform I will never move away from your channel!

A thought about speed limiters: Many manufacturers use them and rarely because the bike 'sucks'. Often it is due to the contract they have with tire manufacturers for stock tires. A speed limiter prevents the rider from exceeding the speed rating on those factory tires. Some times a bike may be sold in a market where insurance rates go up with too much top speed. Lots of reasons.
Just enjoy it and then flash the ecu when your warranty expires.

My local Honda shop gave me the opportunity to test ride the DCT automatic version of this bike. Other than the seating position a little awkward at first I kinda fell in love with it. As a long haul cruiser, the DCT makes sense, but if it was my only bike I would much prefer a traditional clutch and gearbox.

Really love all the videos Burch, as someone who bought their first Rebel 500 last year I've enjoyed watching your content and have found it extremely helpful. Not to be a total Debby Downer, but my biggest gripe thusfar about the Rebel 1100 has simply been my inability to get my hands on one! I understand supply chains have been suffering as of late and perhaps I should just practice more patience, but I've been looking to upgrade from my 2019 500 and the nearest options are over 100 miles away. I can't even find bike to test ride unfortunately, and now I'm looking at maybe moving to the 650 class of Nake Bikes (The Triumph Trident in particular) which have also caught my interest and seem to have actual inventory to check out. Anyway, here's to hoping Honda can get some more 1100's out to the public sooner rather than later, maybe I'm just living in the wrong area? If your Maryland to Cali ride does happen, you're welcome to crash here in central Indiana. Cheers and keep up the great work!

Meet ups & ride round the block with randoms is fab idea, there was a guy here from the radio station who did that at coffee guru, would take 3-4 people round the block, they would then dive in a small cloth bag for prises, he had like a $200 iTunes card, and gold movie pass worth $80, but lots of stuff, but he had like 400 vouchers so it was a classic suspense. Give stickers away, go coffee shop hopping, the list is endless

I'd suggest something really cheap for a first bike. Maybe a 250 cc trailie as it doesn't matter if you drop it.
I am considering a 1100 DCT, but the only modification I'll bother with is a sissy bar as they are great for strapping luggage to. Yep, I'll watch any videos you do on the road.

First, really nice review and opinions. That twitchy throttle response is inherent in Indian bike sport modes also. I sat on one last week at dealer in Troy, Ohio. For an older person it was a bit cramped. Is their any word about forward controls like they have for the Rebel 500 coming for this bike. I really want to add a smaller bike to compliment my Victory Cross Country. Last year I sold my Magna, ( 99, yes black and orange ) one of 7 Hondas I have owned over my 40 years of riding. I will need a screen or the Honda fairing, and driver floorboards also. Probably best for a me to wait a few months and see if the aftermarket addresses my needs.

I think the 500 with aftermarket shocks would be the sweet spot. The valves are also much easer to adjust. The Africa Twin motor needs the cams to come out for the intake valves. On the 500 you can simply remove the rocker arms.

You should consider applying vinyl wrap that is metallic burnt orange. Then replace the black seat with tan seat both front and passenger version and add a sissy bar with built in folding luggage rack.

Hi Burch, great videos. Been watching your reviews and things you are doing with your bike - you are doing good. I'm torn between this beautiful bike HR 1100 and the DUCATI DIAVEL. What do you think? why did you choose HR instead of Ducati and/or other cruisers? Btw, I'm from the Philippines...

Thanks, interesting video. I am just over a month into my Rebel 500. I had been off of two wheels for like 10 years so I was sure I wanted something small and manageable. I almost got the 300 and I'm glad I didn't because after like two days of riding the 500, I was ready to get the 1100! It really is like riding a bike. Realistically I think I was ready to ride an 1100 because my previous bike (Suzuki GSX-R crotch rocket) really taught me to respect the throttle. I spent the last 30 days realizing I can actually rip the throttle on these less powerful, cruisers.
I think the biggest hurdle to the 1100 is that it crosses that price point into new class of bike. If I'm going to pay $10K+ for a bike, I feel like I should be looking at Harleys or something. It becomes a totally different shopping affair. I like that the Rebel 3/500 are kind of this toy entry point that you don't have to take too seriously but ends up being a lot of fun when you get it.
Also, if you end up in Los Angeles, I will totally go on a Rebel ride with you.

My phone does the same thing on my CB300R, it's minimal but I can feel it.
I'm going to relocate it to the center soon.
They should put that new gauge on the 500 as well, the OEM 500 gauge sucks.

You should see if you can test out an Africa Twin one day your up at the dealership.👍 Nice you are enjoying your bike and great you're a pioneer for the 1100 Rebel 😁Don't forget to keep the exhaust low so it doesn't mess up your luggage options . Not gonna be good if you buy upswept exhaust and need to work around that with expensive luggage configurations.

Thanks for sharing! I'm still in the pre-moto class phase, as in I've never driven a motorcycle before. But these videos are a great way to learn about motorcycles that are good beginner fits. So far, the Honda Rebel 1100 is in my top 3. Of course the first step is take the class. haha.

@@LifeOfBurch SAME FOR ME. My top 3 are rebel 500, rebel 1100... in reality it's really just those two. If I keep it rain mode, maybe? I'm 6ft and weight 210 pounds and the rebel felt a little small for me, but maybe that's a good thing?

    • @CDPunkFutbol
      @CDPunkFutbol 3 роки тому +1

@@LifeOfBurch The Rebel 500 is another top choice given the price tag, I don't want to be dropping a $10k motorcycle. I'm 5'8" so it's a good height for these bikes. The other one is the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. I'm still in the research phase, so it's likely that the list will shift by the time I reach the buying phase. Thanks for responding!
