Didn’t know this was a thing but considering the nature of Calorum as a world and how ACOC and Ravening War been, yeah them being lovers torn by politics and ending in tragedy fits right in.
As for visually, a beautiful descent into the subtle madness that Belizabeth felt. No matter how hard she tried, could never forget or perhaps even truly forgive herself. Wonderfully done.
That sequence of Citrina turning out the bulb into the hungry one… absolutely devastating….
I love me some gay angst for iconic shows. Tfw you choose power over the church over the woman you could’ve loved, only to realize on your death bed that the potential for your love was a beauty that you rejected to be consumed. I love the lore implications of their relationship because, like, Belizabeth is a preacher of the Ramsian doctrine. Maybe she was a devout believer in it, and Citrina was the one thing that made her doubt, so she killed her to strengthen her resolve and cut out what she saw as temptation. Or maybe she didn’t believe, but in sacrificing Citrina in a bid for power in the church, the guilt began to consume her, so she took up the doctrine to justify it to herself. Either way making Citrina a Saint of the church, as if it were atonement. Perhaps even becoming disillusioned with the Bulb afterwards, but continuing to pursue power through the Church because learning the true nature of the Bulb only came from losing the only out that would’ve meant something to her.
But legit, this animatic was so good. I especially like how after Belizabeth dies we see the potential future where she *had* accepted Citrina’s love as it burns up.
I haven't watched the bonus content (which is just the bts) but it does raise questions like, how'd they get their hands on Satrina's book in the first place, was it just, given to the church there when she was a priestess of Candia before the food pyramid and concord was made? Why specifically did broccoli lady request to assassinate her? Man, is this how the ship was made? That's amazing
i first found this animatic while adventuring randomly on tumblr 2 years ago, and it made me fall in love with the song itself. i just really enjoy it as a whole. thanks op. :)
This still makes me absolutely feral. The colours, the art style, the composition, the scenes, the song choice. All perfect. I could watch this every day and never get tired of it.

mY god this incredible, ive watched this at least a dozen times so far. just immediately starting with a scene similar to adam and eve I knew this was gonna go hard. your style is good. you matched the scenes so perfectly to the song I cant believe it wasn't written for this. this is so so good. the scene of citrina turning the light off to show the dragon i really gasped out loud. this whole thing so masterfully done. i keep watching it and i keep finding new things to marvel at. beautiful
I have no idea who these characters are and I apparently don't need to for this to steal away my breath and still my heart with its beauty.
Your artstyle, the colour usage and the outfits are great and really lends itself to the efficiency of story telling here.
You did so well with the illustrative aspects of this, and this was a great song for the characters! I also like that the bulb is a literal lightbulb 💡

I swear I've watched this video a thousand times, each time I rewatch it I find something new to love about it. Your use of rhythm is stunning, your repetition of images with subtle changes, your COLORS...the red. man. This is indescribably good. I print it out, I eat it.
