I have read that the characters of this game have stories and seek redemption. Since they bring bosses from other games, I have the feeling that the characters also come from other games. For example, the blonde lady in the trailer reminds me of Lady Maria's set and animation, and the hawk-man reminds me of the statues in The Flame Tower of Heide. But maybe I am reading a bit too much into it.
I've always thought a full speed modern AC would be an insane but cool souls boss, especially if you can parry it's melee attacks. The ones I am talking about the three you find in the game, the one in a ruins with an Omen Killer and perfumers, the one near the entrance to the Leyndell Walls in a tower and one in a dungeon. I am familiar with Dark Souls, and like I said those chests already existed in ER. Whether they decide to reintroduce mimics for this game is up to them.
I imagine the Nightlord is reminiscent of Manus from Dark Souls 1 in that through how he snatched the Chosen Undead and friends through time, this entity is gathering these various individuals through reality itself, or as the translated interview states of them being drawn by influence, are simply lured to this FUCKED up Lands Between. Perhaps both. This is speculation, but I think the reasoning for these various souls being placed here is to overthrow the Golden Order and hold dominance by leveraging external power - forcefully or influenced. And seeing how Marika possibly has a hand in this, she too could be influencing the particular few "seekers of redemption" to stamp this evil out as chosen. Considering Morgott's dialogue "Little pillager, bent on sacking the lands of Gold. I will swat away any and all who dare approach," he's likely acting on behalf of the Erdtree to also eliminate any external forces regardless of their intent. Just as he seemingly disregarded our Tarnished was guided by Grace, he too seems to disregard these Nightfarers being presumably guided by Grace as well, thus is against us and hence the hostility, as these characters hail from beyond the Lands Between.
Remember Margit's dialogue after we beat him? "Cower in fear of the night...". And all the Night exclusive bosses that only show up at night for unknown reasons? Even though they are meant to be separate continuities, there is a good chance we might get some pseudo answers to those.
That line is because he's listed in descriptions as being the leader of the Night's Cavalry. Doubt it's meant to have anything to do with the Nox stuff although I could see it being tied to that retroactively since Miyazaki and GRRM weren't involved with Nightreign at all.
As someone who loves roguelikes, roguelites, and obviously Souls games, I'm kinda excited, but disappointed at the same time because it isn't a sequel, nor a proper Souls game
FromSoft is not making what you want. They're making what they want to make and trying new things. This is a lower priced experimental title to tide people over until the big project, and allows their younger talent to cultivate their skills independently of Miyazaki.

there's a video on IGN that goes a bit more in-depth into what the gameplay is going to be like. the reviewer only had 6 hours to play and couldn't take any b-roll but there's a ton of info in there. definitely seems like a spin-off, because there's a ton of mechanics that haven't been in any fromsoft games before. a more bite-sized, rogue-like game where time is a factor.
One thing of note for this trailer. The ending scene where the doors are located look very similar to Dark Souls 2's Tomb of Want. Could this be connected to the Bearer of the Curse who had transcend the cycle of the world? Often people take this to signify that the DSII protagonist is the strongest protagonist, but it might be more true now more than ever if he can take people from entirely different ip's into Elden Ring. Aldia does say that where the Bearer of the Curse now is within no path beyond the scope and reaches of light and dark. Perhaps he had found his answer here? Idk this might be an absurdly outlandish lore implication. I can't wait for this game to come out!
Maybe. I always thought of the Chosen Undead as the strongest, though, since he manages to succeed in the strongest period of the world that we ever see lore-wise, with everything after decaying and weakening due to the dying Flame.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystemI'm not sure what leads you to believe the ds2 character fought the most powerful characters, or is the most powerful undead. Most of the bosses in ds2 are just mutated... Dudes.
I feel Margit being the leader of the night watch or whatever his knights are called might have something to do with him being there? My only correlation is the word “night” but I think there could be something
Probably not because of the Dark Souls 3 remake coming soon, I think they will want to save the very best for later. However, I could see them adding Arorias to hype people up for fighting Gael again, since he's similar and fits the theme. If I'm wrong, I wouldn't have any complaints though.
On thing I noticed is the character that does the parry/deflect at around 2:16 in the original trailer has a long Malenia arm. Probably each character will have unique mechanics like that. Kinda cool
Heres my idea; Dark Souls 3 doesn't confirm your choices in Dark Souls 1, and I think any potential sequel to Elden Ring would do the same. Therefor, all the endings to Elden Ring can be expanded on as spinoffs that are both canon and noncanon. I believe Nightreign will follow up on the Age of Stars ending, and after removing the Greater Will's influence from The Lands Between we find out *why* its called "The Lands Between" as the other Souls game converge. Similarly to DS3, I wouldnt be shocked if the Nightlord has a boss name like "Consort of the Stars", or, "Consort of the Night". There is no need to make a character in this game, because we already made the antagonist.
@taistelusammakko5088 oh, yeah. I wrote this with that in mind. My thoughts on it are; 1. "Time is Convoluted" 2. Miyazaki also said nothing else Elden Ring related was cooking, like, last week. We have to keep in mind that saying anything about whatever lore this *does* include would be a huge spoiler, given how this community is. Don't get me wrong, this idea could be wrong, but it also doesn't contradict anything as of yet!
Personally, I hope the plot of the game doesn’t affect the base game of Elden Ring. BUT, since the basis of the Shattering exists in this game, I hope that the game can give us information on the lore of Elden Ring that we didn’t get in the base game. Like maybe we’ll get context to certain things from the pre-shattering era.
If you're hoping for "more answers" for questions you had about Elden Ring lore, I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment. The most telling part of the interview for me was the phrase "If you had to tie it in some way..." as in, they're not actually trying to tie it in. They just want to make a cool game in an established world, possibly to borrow existing assets and speed up development, or even to cash in on player investment in the Lands Between. But they're saying this isn't canon; this ISN'T the Lands Between that the lore community has been trying to unravel for the past couple years. Any connections to Dark Souls or Elden Ring base game are probably just there to serve gameplay alone. Lore does NOT seem to be prioritized here. So we shouldn't put too much meaning into any "revelations" that come from this game's story. Though I doubt much of the lore community will be able to accept this...
It'll be squeezed for content by creators but I doubt it will make much sense or have a lot of genuine additions considering Miyazaki isn't even involved besides approving it and handing it to a section of the team. I'd love to be wrong though.
Imagine if Nightlord is just another title for the Dark Lord or Lord of Hollows. No idea why, but overall esthetic and coloration remind me of Lord of Hollows ending from Dark Souls 3. Maybe we just completely broke timeline there? . _. And it honestly looks like we're getting way more polished playstyles than mashing r1. Let's hope at least...
God I hope the combat is more interesting than just mashing light attack or the Skill button. Though I can't be too hopeful, we saw the winged helmet guy using the same old terrible one-handed greatsword moveset.
Parallel world or not, there are clearly things that catch my attention. The “fire” that takes over is the same shade as the putrescent knights fire (deep blue). So if they share the same history I imagine we’ll get a few more puzzle pieces. also there are giant shadows walking over limveld that seem to match up nicely with titan corpse sizes.
Here’s my cooking: Seeing how this takes place in a parallel universe or “shard” of TLB, I’m thinking the tragedy being referenced by the Fire Keeper-looking character is some kind of Shattering calamity that splintered similar shards from other parallel FromSoft universes and brought them closer together. The Nightfarers/Seekers of Redemption are inhabitants of those parallel universes that got tossed out and ended up in this interstice, maybe drawn in by the Fire Keeper to prevent a greater disaster from unfolding. So the player roster will have, let’s say, a Dark Mage from DS3, a Cainhurst Rogue from BB, a Pharis Archer from DS1, a Tarnished Warrior from ER, and so on.
Man I hope the gameplay is similar to monster hunter where you can just easily coop with other players and even see them in safe areas like towns or the round table that would be really cool
Holy Moly this one is big. First off,The fact it has,at least, the same events of the Shattering as ER may help us more when it comes to the Lore, learning some Vital info for the main game may be possible, though the interview suggests they won't focus on that too much. Also, the Night lord might be one of,if not the Most powerful character we have seen in Fromsoft games as of yet. Considering we "seek redemption",and that the Night lord is seemingly Warping reality/changing the landscape and needs to be stopped by us,maybe we have a connection to them ? I'm kinda hopping it'll be an original boss/character,but I won't mind a reused figure from ER or even other games. Hopefully Ludwing and other BB characters make an Apperance, and oh boy is this game intresting.
When i thought night lord. My mind immediately jumped to the age of darkness from the souls games. Perhaps this night lord is a player who chose to let the flame die.

What I noticed is when the protagonists opened up the big white tree door, it looked like the abyss from dark souls started to pour in. We know Manus had time travel and dimension travel capabilites, perhaps something is linked to him that way
That might be part of why we have rifts and enemies from the other games leaking in. He is known to transcend time already with his portals, so why not universes?

5:23 The forces: money. While I am leaning towards optimism for that spin-off, it surely is just using the IP as a marketing tool and as a mean to reduce development costs (since the engine/models will likely remain very similar to that of the original game).
If there's anything we know about Miyazaki it's that he's very particular about that sort of stuff. I can't imagine he'd permit such a thing to happen that would totally ruin the internal consistency of this universe.
You say that like its a bad thing. Part of the problem with our current media landscape is that shit costs so much to make. This often leads to devs and publishers playing it way too safe. Lower costs means more room to experiment.
@@zeppie_ According to interviews he's not involved with it besides greenlighting the project and accepting the basic concept of the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason he'd be okay with something like straight up Dark Souls bosses being put in there is because he's not in a director role on it and is too humble or polite to straight up deny ideas that have ostensibly become another director's project and portion of the team.
I really like the way the parallel timelines thing. We get a “new” story without as many of the restrictions a directly related game would have while also (in theory) learning more about the original game through their shared history.
@@digital_nex2247 Sony owns the rights to Bloodborne. It also had one of their internal teams, Japan Studio, on it as a co-developer. That's the reason when asked about a remake or sequel in interviews Miyazaki has responded with "it's not up to us right now".
I see it more like after DS3 and the universe collapsed in on itself and the dark soul was reforged at the end of time, the painter painted a new world with that dark soul. That painting being the lands between
@Knirrax out of all the theories I've heard this one is the one that I haven't heard from anyone. And the theory makes alot of sense. For all we know the lands between has always just been the painted world but now under the influence of outer gods.
@Knirrax the painting would have rotted eventually, and without a new REAL world to host the painting that seems improbable. Also due to bad English translations it is a huge misunderstanding of what you get from Gael, it isn't Blood of the Dark Soul, it is Dark Soul Blood, which might not seem like that big of a difference at first, but it is quite different indeed. Gael never did possess the Dark Soul, merely gained enough humanity to mimic it with blood.
They dropped this, The Witcher and the big Helldivers update so early on, this was a damn good show. I'm super excited for all of it, especially with how fun Seamless Coop has been for me and my newbie friend recently (he's all in already lol)
This completely shocked me. I honestly have no idea what to expect, but the flames, the white door, and some of the details I've heard about your teamates having to attack you to revive you during the fight suggests to me a connection to destined death, and likely the gloam eyed Queen with the color scheme. All in all though I'm very curious and we are in for a lot of interesting info.
I thought that maybe the Night Lord is maybe a supposed consort of the Gloam-Eyed Queen. The story might not be canon to Elden Ring itself but all events until the Shattering is canon to this game so maybe they might pull some parallel world shenanigans like "oh what if the Gloam-Eyed Queen wasn't defeates by Maliketh? What if she had a promised consort?" I also see a lot of Storm Lord motifs in this trailer, definitely the player character with the bird head has some ties to him or maybe even is him.
I think this was also heavily inspired by popular mods for the souls games. I.e. seamless coop and bosses/enemies being ported to other FromSoft games by the community.
Absolutely love the idea behind this next chapter. I absolutely buy into the Nox being the source of this, with the "Nightlord" being the Lord of Night that they were banished for trying to create (assuming this is a reality in which the Nox succeeded, it makes sense that the GW would have tried to banish a culture who were a multiversal threat). DO they anywhere specifically use the words "non-canon"? a separate story doesn't have to not be canon after all, and we know the Nox ultimately didn't succeed to raise a Lord of Night, so is this perhaps the story of how those events unfolded?
My man smough with the lightning fast turnaround. You're the best, man. Not sure how I feel about the format but it's a whole new game so...that's cool right??
Thanks my friend. Totally appreciate that - I think for people who are unsure about it, I would just say that a) it’s non canonical so it won’t impact the base game lore and b) it’s a way for FS to experiment with some new ideas and mechanics
normally, Miyazaki had rthe idea to have the Night Cavarly just appear anywhere on the map to stalk you when it was night. But this was too hard to do with AI so they just were put in fixed places to patrol. Hence why Margit says "Cower in fear of the night, the hands of the fell omen shall brook thee no quarte" as he commands the Nights Cavarly to hunt you. I think they are building further on this
One thing I do want to point out is the round table hold’s burnt look while still having the grace in the center. This could mean that some carian force had won over the forces of gold and has become the dominant force over the lands in place of the golden order. Clearly I couldn’t be Ranni because she wants to just peace out, so maybe Rennala, Rellana, or even the snowy crone could be responsible for raising a lord of night. This is pure speculation though.
I’m going to be honest, as fun as this gameplay looks and as much as I adore Fromsoft (my favourite developer of all time), this kind of feels like a sellout. Miyazaki has always firmly stated that the stories & universes of their various games/franchises were separate. They were spiritual successors of each other, yes, but they were not sharing a world. This game is veering too far into Marvel Multiverse territory for my comfort and feels like they’re just ripping assets they already have/that fans already recognise & have an emotional attachment to so they can be like “gotcha!” I know Miyazaki has expressed an interest in putting his own spin on a multiplayer/battle royale game in the past but he isn’t even directing this. Fromsoft has been one of the only AAA developers that seemed to go against the grain and deliver their artistic vision unhindered. Their franchises are the only major games I play that have never had microtransactions, cash shops, etc. There’s no way this game doesn’t feature microtransactions. Outfit & weapon skins, new characters, etc. I realise this is par for the course in today’s market but that’s not a good thing and seeing Fromsoft go down this modern, corporate direction is concerning. I’m happy they at least stated this to be a parallel world and thus has no effect on the lore/story of elden ring and we can essentially ignore its connection to past fromsoft titles but it just feels wrong. This is not their style at all and I feel kinda crazy for having these concerns because I’m seeing nothing but hype from the rest of the community. I thought Smough might have a bit of criticism mixed in with excitement but this video didn’t touch upon any of the red flags I see for this direction of the company. All this being said I’m definitely playing the bird character because they look sick as fuck.
You are summing up some of my initial thoughts on this. As excited as I am for more Elden Ring related games, it seems to be skirting with aspects of live service and hero-based games like Marvel Rivals, etc. As soon as I saw the "ring of fire" closing in I was worried we were getting an Elden Ring Battle Royale! I'm sure there's a market for that but it's not my cup of tea. Still, I can see it being fun and the faster pace with new move sets look cool.
@@grimmarielle7205 I never read this but that’s good to hear. I’m a little skeptical on that as this has all the bones of a live service multiplayer game.
Would be wild if we got some of the most iconic souls series boss fights but with some mix ups maybe a bloodborne and sekiro boss appearing together to take on the Co-op trio like Ludwig and The Demon Of hatred would be a bad ass boss combo
Would rather just have more entirely new encounters or designs even if it's a standalone side game, even if there are some reused model rigs or animations here and there like they often do. There's a few new enemies in the promo screenshots, but who knows how much will actually be in there overall and the quality of each fight. They've said there's only around 8 core bosses and a few premade player characters. That's why I kind of wish this was either another new IP (even if the amount of content was to be the same) or was still based around existing lore.
Maybe in this timeline, the Nox succeeded in their blasphemy. The Greater Will didn’t notice it in time to cast them underground, and their Night Lord overthrew the Golden order and slew their gods (and maybe used the divine gate of Enir Ilim?). Perhaps what we see happening in the world is a side effect / overflow of the fearsome rite they used to gain the power to stand up to the Greater Will
I’m worried we might be taking the whole “parallel world” thing a bit too literally, especially since we’ve had so many multiverse stories over here in the West these days. I’m personally banking on this being officially set in the Elden Ring canon - but simply somewhere else in the timeline, either before the Tarnished’s arrival or after. The fact that the Shattering still happened in this game kinda makes me think that
Replying to myself lol - but all the Nox and Night imagery is making me think we’re getting told the story of how they invoked the Greater Will’s ire. What if they actually did create their own Lord… and it was the Nightfarers who quested to stop them.
Ahh… okay, replying to myself again, and I finally saw the interview quotes specifically stating “other worlds.” Gah, I don’t know how I feel about that… maybe I’m a lore purist 😅
This is awesome!! but I just know Sony gonna pull out the “Pre Order On PlayStation5 to receive instant access to the Ludwig and Gehrman boss fight” shit
The mist that comes out of the big white door looks like Nito's Miasma, so could the Night Lord somehow be related to him? I think it'd be cool if he somehow was.
We got Monster Hunter: Wildin', Elden Ring Roguelike, Doom Dark Ages, Witcher 4, Borderlands 4, and fucking Subnautica 2. All that's missing to make 2025 THE year for gaming is Silksong. Im exluding GTA 6 since i don't play the series
There is mention of a "Ominous Rift" in Elden Ring's game. I suggest reading the Sorcery spell "Eternal Darkness" , which gives a real good link between the fall of the Nox and the Shattering. And this sort of spell 'forbidden' in sorcery as a result.
I really really dont think we should be taking anything lorewise seriously frrom this game. Its not Canon and was simply approved by Miyazaki as a way for a new Director to try their hand at a totally new Genre of game for the company. I think if we try to fit stuff from this game which is mostly focused on the gameplay and roguelike elements into what we know about ER proper it will simply muddy the waters. There's literally characters from Fromsoft's other IPs and Elden Ring not once alludes to the idea of there being overlap with Dark Souls. From and Namco own the IPs for these games so they can reuse those assets and enemies without worry and to fill out the game world. And the best part is is doesnt need to make sense with regards to the greater Elden Ring lore because they can call it a spin off/parallel world. I really hope loretubers dont go down this slippery slope of trying to fit lore from a game which is essentially Fromsoftware's Metal Gear Survive into the canon story...
The mental gymnastic to make sense and try to fit this game into canon is so baffling. The director himself said this is non-canon and is purely focused on gameplay. It's just an experiment for the team, so we should just treat it so

1:42 the chests in the artwork look like chests from dark souls, seeing as how bosses from the other games are returning, perhaps mimics are as well
"perhaps mimics are as well" - oh my god, i can hear the screams now. 😆😆
Those chest where already in Elden Ring, they were just very rare and only appearing a few times in the game.
I hope so, seeing Elden Ring noobies blindly opening chests to get eaten would be HILARIOUS

I am familiar with Dark Souls, and like I said those chests already existed in ER. Whether they decide to reintroduce mimics for this game is up to them.
Ranni and her consort, the Lord of Night gunna be the final boss duo for sure

Saw the nameless king turned off my computer and ran around my neighborhood
I was thinking it had something to do with the Nox's "lord of night" they were attempting to make using Silver Tears.
That line is because he's listed in descriptions as being the leader of the Night's Cavalry. Doubt it's meant to have anything to do with the Nox stuff although I could see it being tied to that retroactively since Miyazaki and GRRM weren't involved with Nightreign at all.
Give me Darkeater Midir in the Lands Between and I'll be happy

The three-headed dog reminds me of the statue in Maliketh's arena. The clean lines of the Elden Ring are also intriguing.
As someone who loves roguelikes, roguelites, and obviously Souls games, I'm kinda excited, but disappointed at the same time because it isn't a sequel, nor a proper Souls game
It looks neat, but only that. I wouldn't spend money on it unless it comes out and blows everyone away.
FromSoft is not making what you want. They're making what they want to make and trying new things. This is a lower priced experimental title to tide people over until the big project, and allows their younger talent to cultivate their skills independently of Miyazaki.

I just hope we'll get an Elden Ring sequel too at some point.
What is a proper souls game. Cause let me tell you sekiro isn't proper, bloodborne isn't, you're just being afraid of change
Honestly I'm considering this game as something like Fromsoft Smash Bros. Like I'm obviously going to dig into the lore but I don't think it will have any canonical implications for the other games. It will be fun, but it's mostly an excuse to do cool things and have fun.
I wonder why we can't see the Erdtree even once in the trailer, but in the end there are some branches of a giant white tree visible on the background (11:58)
Edit: I think the Erdtree is actually slightly visible at 3:46

there's a video on IGN that goes a bit more in-depth into what the gameplay is going to be like. the reviewer only had 6 hours to play and couldn't take any b-roll but there's a ton of info in there. definitely seems like a spin-off, because there's a ton of mechanics that haven't been in any fromsoft games before. a more bite-sized, rogue-like game where time is a factor.
I’m here for it - I think this is a great idea as a self contained experiment
It's already confirmed the lore is entirely cut of from any of the other games and is completely self-contained.

On thing I noticed is the character that does the parry/deflect at around 2:16 in the original trailer has a long Malenia arm. Probably each character will have unique mechanics like that. Kinda cool
If it is characters cast out from other worlds, seeking redemption, could one of the classes be a fragment/daughter of melenia like millicent?
This isn't really important, but veld is dutch for field. So, instead of it being Limgrave, it's now just Limfield.
Heres my idea;
Dark Souls 3 doesn't confirm your choices in Dark Souls 1, and I think any potential sequel to Elden Ring would do the same.
Hold up wait a minute this man is onto to something.
There’s no reason that final line had to go that hard 🔥
This would be great, but they said only thing common with "canon" er is the pre-shattering lore
@taistelusammakko5088 oh, yeah. I wrote this with that in mind.
My thoughts on it are;
1. "Time is Convoluted"
Ooh, that would be interesting
Personally, I hope the plot of the game doesn’t affect the base game of Elden Ring. BUT, since the basis of the Shattering exists in this game, I hope that the game can give us information on the lore of Elden Ring that we didn’t get in the base game. Like maybe we’ll get context to certain things from the pre-shattering era.
I don't think they'll do much of that considering Miyazaki and GRRM had no direct involvement.
Ornstein and Smough Godskin duo duo would be crazy lmao
Don’t give them any ideas 😂

Ngl if they did it a third time and made it even crazier it might be badass af and be considered a from soft all time classic
Everyone is laughing until they throw you into a Capra demon's sized room full of rot, and agaisnt the Bed of Chaos
How the hell would they fit the bed of chaos in there?

Imagine if Nightlord is just another title for the Dark Lord or Lord of Hollows.
No idea why, but overall esthetic and coloration remind me of Lord of Hollows ending from Dark Souls 3.
Maybe we just completely broke timeline there? . _.
And it honestly looks like we're getting way more polished playstyles than mashing r1. Let's hope at least...

At 9:43, the boss that gets attacked is seemingly the Centipede Demon
Here’s my cooking:
Seeing how this takes place in a parallel universe or “shard” of TLB, I’m thinking the tragedy being referenced by the Fire Keeper-looking character is some kind of Shattering calamity that splintered similar shards from other parallel FromSoft universes and brought them closer together.
Procedural generation is not usually something I like, but I'm always happy to have my preconceptions.... shattered.
There is no procedural generation it’s randomized

In addition,I find it intresting that its Margit used here, not Morrgot. Maybe this is one of the changes in lore/story the Director stated

What I noticed is when the protagonists opened up the big white tree door, it looked like the abyss from dark souls started to pour in. We know Manus had time travel and dimension travel capabilites, perhaps something is linked to him that way

Yeah, but it seems cool so I'll probably buy it.
If there's anything we know about Miyazaki it's that he's very particular about that sort of stuff. I can't imagine he'd permit such a thing to happen that would totally ruin the internal consistency of this universe.

10:30 ELDEN RING IS THE DARK AGE OF HUMANITY CONFIRMED????
What if she had a promised consort?"
I also see a lot of Storm Lord motifs in this trailer, definitely the player character with the bird head has some ties to him or maybe even is him.
Chalice Dungeons walked so Nightreign could run
Interesting that the Omen can appear randomly, since they have a connection with dreams and nightmares; We can see them having nightmares in game.
Since the Omenkillers wear masks that feature a face Omens see in their dreams, we can potentially know how the Nightlord looks like
My man smough with the lightning fast turnaround.
I think they are building further on this
so many possibilities, not only lore wise but this also means fromsoft is willing to experiment more with the soulslike formula.

This was the best possible thing to wake up to this morning.
I hope you enjoy my take
This is legendary see you guys on this.
What if this is just an excuse for a boss rush mode of all the best bosses. I would not complain
This game is veering too far into Marvel Multiverse territory for my comfort and feels like they’re just ripping assets they already have/that fans already recognise & have an emotional attachment to so they can be like “gotcha!”
I know Miyazaki has expressed an interest in putting his own spin on a multiplayer/battle royale game in the past but he isn’t even directing this.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
You are summing up some of my initial thoughts on this. As excited as I am for more Elden Ring related games, it seems to be skirting with aspects of live service and hero-based games like Marvel Rivals, etc. As soon as I saw the "ring of fire" closing in I was worried we were getting an Elden Ring Battle Royale!
I'm sure there's a market for that but it's not my cup of tea.
Still, I can see it being fun and the faster pace with new move sets look cool.
Bro the director said that the game doesn’t have micro transactions. He said you buy the game and get the full package
@@grimmarielle7205 I never read this but that’s good to hear. I’m a little skeptical on that as this has all the bones of a live service multiplayer game.
The level of disingenuous takes in these comments is unreal. This is FromSoft not EA. Stop the cap.
Yeah, idk
A non canonical Elden Ring coop?
Best way I can twist this positively for me, is to assume that they want a playing field for new mechanics.
Would be wild if we got some of the most iconic souls series boss fights but with some mix ups maybe a bloodborne and sekiro boss appearing together to take on the Co-op trio like Ludwig and The Demon Of hatred would be a bad ass boss combo
Yeh I’m excited to see what they will do with this experiment
Perhaps what we see happening in the world is a side effect / overflow of the fearsome rite they used to gain the power to stand up to the Greater Will
The more you learn about this game the more promising it sounds.

And possibly Lies of P DLC
Still no silksong tho
@@zerozone5848 still no Elder Scrolls
This. It's just an experimental multiplayer game, the lore isn't a concern.
The mental gymnastic to make sense and try to fit this game into canon is so baffling. The director himself said this is non-canon and is purely focused on gameplay. It's just an experiment for the team, so we should just treat it so
They have the opportunity to do the funniest thing and make the final boss Radahn again
