I actually am really surprised that you haven't played the campaigns before. I played it a lot when I was a kid so I find myself saying the quotes at the cutscenes without looking at the screen or dialogue. It's a really fun campaign; I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
I loved playing every single one of the campaigns, very creative and interesting lore.

I have only played age of empires 1 when i was 3 years old. 13 years later I'm checking this out and it looks awesome

The thing about "Franks" is true. The term was used in Eastern Roman Empire and later Ottoman Empire for all peoples conquered by the Franks. This is where "lingua franca" comes from which referred to the dialect of Italian used by traders in Middle East

AOE3 campaign is like watercraft 3 where progression affects next mission, so try to explore and kill as much as possible to make lots of progression so later mission is easier (more exp, more cards to choose).

Ay, enjoy the journey. I'm mildly surprised that you never played it before, but I guess that not playing the single player aspect of games is a thing people do. The single player aspect is usually the first thing I play haha.

you've got to be kidding AOE 2 being a superior game of the two thought your having a laugh
The campagin AI is totaly diferent than the Skirmish campagin
They (I think) will never grab treasures (because on mission 2 they could just get the last map part and basicaly soft lock you) and at early levels they will not be agresive (because they could just send all of the fire ships to you and destroy ur boats and in the first mission they will not rush to the building you are supposed to Defend) and they will not rush you (except on some missions)
Well thats what I have seen in the campagins, corect me if its wrong

On the second map there are some really cool treasures to find, it doesn't really make the mission easier or faster, but I love map exploring in campaign.

I am on the Fountain of youth campaign. It usually gives a town hall wagon I thought. I have played 3 times but no wagon how do i get the wagon to start a town hall in the fountain of youth campaign????
The AI has a weight calculation for what troops to build, and resources remaining matter. When resources are very high in late game, it gives a huge weight to artillery meaning major artillery spam. It's less significant in skirmish because in skirmish the AI will weight based on what the player fields.

As much as I like AoE 3, the story at the beginning of a campaign is much better depicted in aoe 2. The story in aoe3 looks cartoony and most of the characters look cartoony too. I prefer the pencil sketches of aoe2 over cartoons of aoe3
I''ll probably prefer cinematics over sketches. It's cartoony writing that bothers me - one of AoE3 failed experiments. It seems they understood that and India and Japan campaigns and historical battles from DE look much better
