I still love this movie. The early DCOMs are still the best ones! I wish they still had bizarre movies like Luck of the Irish, Halloweentown, The 13th year, & Zenon. The King Ryan Merriman & Queen Kimberly J Brown of early movies were such great young actors. I really hope they're doing well.
How did you skip the plot point that Seamus thought him losing just meant he'd be banished to Ireland, assuming Kyle's dad was Irish, but then found out he was actually banished to lake Erie (hence shouting "ohioooo" as he rockets away)?!?! That was *why* I loved this movie. I loved that switcheroo.
I first watched Psych because I was like "wait it has the guy from Luck of the Irish AND Sam the Onion Man from Holes?!" and I happened to be very infatuated with both as a kid, so hearing Timothy Omundson compared to Robbie Rotten has me howling

THAT FELT LIKE ONE OF THE BEST CATCHY ONE LINERS OF MY CHILDHOOD XD
Every time I see Timothy Osmundson in anything, I just see him as this evil leprechaun from my favorite dcom. Unsub in Criminal Minds? Evil Leprechaun with a sniper rifle. Detective in Psyche ? Evil leprechaun in a suit. God in Lucifer? Evil leprechaun pretending to be nice. Hephaestus in Percy Jackson? Evil leprechaun weirdly standing on a balcony talking to a little girl below.
It makes sense to me. The Irish have gone through a lot in their long history and there are some pretty incredible songs they've made that stem from those events. The Fields of Athenry = British attempted genocide, The Road Not Taken = tribute to the quarter of the population who were lost in the attempted genocide, Isle of Hope Isle of Tears = immigration, The Town I Loved So Well = The Troubles, Grace = about Grace and Joseph's marriage/Joseph's execution for wanting Irish Independence, Ballad of Joe McDonnell = The Troubles, and many others songs that would make this reply a wall of text.
I was obsessed with this movie! I swear it’s the reason I’m obsessed with Ireland. I too wanted to learn how to river dance after watching it, but I can’t dance so I just settle for listening to Irish music to this day. I’m weird. 😂
OMG I ALSO THOUGHT HE LOOKED LIKE THE EVIL GUY FROM LAZY TOWN! (RIP Stefan Karl Stefansson 😞) I watched this on St Patrick’s day with my fiance and they were like why does he look familiar and i said idk but he looks like that guy from lazytown
This movie has a a funny place in my heart. Because my brother Kyle, born on st Patrick’s days found out we are in fact part Irish. Unfortunately it wasn’t because our parents and ancestors were magic, but rather because our great great grandmother was SA’ed on a plantation by an Irish foreman. So kind of like this movie, but horrible
*Actually* it is possible to get to the end of a rainbow, but not the big ones you see in the sky. I was driving one day, it had just absolutely poured down rain, the sun was out immediately after, and I was going down this road lined with trees. I noticed a rainbow beam in front of me on the road, and I drove through it! I DROVE THROUGH A RAINBOW!!! I immediately called my mom and was so excited (I was 22 years old lol😂).
Not proud to say if my friend told me they don’t know their family history bc their parents are being super shady and dodging questions my mind would go to the worst scenarios. “Must be some family trama and they’re no contact… Or maybe they’re related?? Is it Flowers in the Attic or cousins? Oh no wait! They’re in witness protection! Must have seen some bad stuff… Never mind they’re still working with the mob/cartel so stop asking questions kid if you know what’s go for you!” Side note, I grew up with my dad being no contact with his mom for 23 years. Actually learned from a young age that he would prefer not to talk/go into that trama. So yeah family history/grandparent project weren’t exactly fun
i had this on whilst making lunch at my mum walking through the kitchen stopped to say "no, it is impossible because they're always moving 😥" then continued on her way saying nothing else, and the mental gymnastics i had to complete to realise she was answering you at 13:54 about ends of rainbows😅
Motocrossed is so good! I like the weird ones: 1 Halloweentown Trilogy 2.Luck of the Irish The 13th Year 3.Zenon Trilogy 5. Quints Bonus:The Color Of Friendship
@@nilawarriorprincess Halloween Town and Zenon are in my top 10. Color of Friendship is great too, great message. Also, “True Confessions” is another banger. Shia Lebouf killed it in that one.
You're right. Tru Confederate is fantastic! Thanks for mentioning it. It's such a serious movie by DCOM standards. It's really relatable; it probably made me feel guilty about being the sick sister, so I probably blocked it, lol. That's back when I thought Shia would be the next Tom Hanks.
I also loved this movie and it held a special place in my heart as well because some of it was filmed at Lagoon!! Which I’ve held many a season pass to. Absolutely loved that it was included in the movie.
I remember watching this movie as a really young kid and feeling anxious about the idea of Leprechauns being a secret supernatural kind of person like vampires or something, because *I'm* Irish American, so learning I'm a secret leprechaun suddenly became a much bigger threat than becoming a vampire. I also had an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. Anyway while I remembered a lot of this movie I had zero memories of Seamus, not even any long lost memories resurfacing like the tiny mom - he's an entirely new character and plot line to me. I feel like some fae magic might be at work here (which was used in a pretty fun way to me, the kid taking advantage of the betting compulsion. I love funky little fae rules like that.)
I just watched the MyScene and Bratz Rock Angels videos and now I'm subscribed and obsessed with your content! I dont want to watch movies anymore, I just want to listen to you summarize them 🤣
As an Irish person I can confirm that I watched this on a sleepover with my friends and we were ABSOLUTELY losing it and still make jokes abt it to this day.
