I need to make a formal announcement about the Pitch Perfect Cup Song not being mentioned ✨😜 Speed Stacks/sport stacking/cup stacking is literally not in Pitch Perfect y'all! I think there was some mandala effect because some people have commented that speed stacking was in the movie lolol, it's not, I promise! I suppose the two are in 2 completely different spheres in my brain that the connection of the cups didn't not happen for me, so doing the cup song didn't enter my idea space. To pitch perfect stans know that I see you, I respect you, but miss anna was simply using a normal ass cup! xoxo jordy 💗
this was the only thing i was thinking throughout the entire video because im about the same age as you but when the cup song became popular that was when everyone i knew started cup stacking. i started doing it for fun (along with the song) afterwards. and i never knew that speed stacking was a thing… but to me the cup song was a gateway to cup stacking
I’m a Cup Stacker myself, and I’m a member of team Cupstack USA, the team formed from Karango Cupstack. I have been doing this for a decade, and I can say that this video is amazing, and it’s the most accurate I’ve ever seen. I have met Wayne Godinet, and I have been in Oceanside, California for a Cupstack event. Thank you for shedding the light on this whole situation. This is, by far, one of the best explanations of this I’ve ever seen, and the training montages are fantastic! It’s also really funny how this was posted on the 25th anniversary of Speed Stacks being a company. Best timing!
I just love that there are niche communities like this out there that most people will never be involved with. It feels very wholesome some how, despite the internal controversies.
WAIT did cupstacking kick off hard in Oceanside? I grew up there and when i was like 9 years old everyone at my youth center was doing it but only a hand full of people i knew experienced it like I did. i wonder if i just organically experienced a niche edit: i saw this comment before i even watched the video. this is blowing my MIND RIGHT NOW
"I started stacking because I like the sound that cups make." I totally get this! I actually started a life-long love for boxing because I liked the sound of gloves when they hit the pads, haha. I just wanted you to know you're totally not alone in this :)
i recognized that "oh my god" immediately, its so wild that it got sampled in a song so huge. it's awesome to know where it came from and its history 👀 its also so cool to learn abt this sport and community behind it
Knowing about your speed stacking channel honestly fills in a gap cause I've wondered before if you had made other channels in the past. Not that I had like seen any, but you just have a much more fully-formed voice than most channels that are this new
I used to walk around school with my cups clipped on my belt thinking I was the shit in 4th grade 😂 and could take on anyone if challenged to a cup duel
not to be weird but watching this video gave me the same euphoria that youtube videos would back in 2011. you are so talented at what you do. it's been awhile since i've seen content like this on here and it's so refreshing, thank you
This put the biggest chummiest smile on my face. Stacking seems really freaking difficult to me, but seeing the pros in their flow is super satisfying since y'all make it look so easy. + The noise the cups make, I would totally fall asleep to asmr of that lol. Congrats on beating your record 🎉 Also your editing is not just on point but beyond the point 😂😂
I love learning about random corners of UA-cam communities especially ones I wanted to be a part of while younger! Also the gaslighting to your classmate is hilarious 😂
been a silent viewer for awhile, but just need to pop in and say thank you for all of the effort that goes into your videos- you make really polished work and I wish it was recognized more. This video was so fun!!! I was born in 97 and went to a lower school that adopted stacking into the PE curriculum and I was so bad at it 😭
Former cup stacker, team UK, did a few world championships and shamelessly still keep my videos up lol. This is incredibly well researched. This appeared on my algorithm so hopefully this blows up more! Good work :)
For 27K subs, the quality of this video is insanely good lol. Your childhood video was real wholesome though. We love seeing a friend supporting their friend’s passion
This was my first video of yours I’ve seen, and as someone who was self proclaimed as one of the best speed stackers in school, I have to say your content is so funny, well produced, and I can tell: very you. Super surprised you’re not blowing up more! Huge props!!! No wonder Drew is a fan!
As a stacker thats been doing it on and off since 2010, this is a really great video One thing that killed the sport for me entirely not mentioned in the video was the introduction to the g5 timer in march 2021. They made all the wrs from the start of the wssa until mid 2021 erased as wrs and are now considered legacy records on the wssa site. They made 4 pads on the timer instead of 2 to prevent people holding the cups while stopping the timer. I only go to tournaments now because of the friendships I have made and not of the comp itself. Its really sad
Omg Im so glad you mentioned the timer! I was going to discuss that but I cut it because of time. So good to get someone in the sport’s perspective on it, thanks for sharing!
Stacking holds a special place in my heart. I don't do it anymore but when I was 8 I took first at the WSSA championship in my division. My sister was 4 at the same time and was featured on the back of the retail box they were selling around that time. As a result, she was selected by Ellen personally to be featured in the episode showcasing speed stacking.
i had a friend who used to bring ppl she met on tinder to hang out in a group w us before doing any dates. she once brought over a man who was a "professional cup stacker". he brought two sets of cups to hang out. when i asked him how he became a professional cup stacker he said "i've just been stacking cups my whole life" 💀 i would also like to add he was only in state for a few weeks to teach kids how to stack in gym class.
I love this age of videography because i don’t think i would ever have heard of speed stacks again but i love history of all things even the silliest of interests thank you for sharing this masterpiece! Edit: i dont mean silly to be offensive or demeaning im just a silly guy rn (its 4 am i finished my history finals and i am a history major so it was ROUGH)
the only thing more satisfying than the sound of the cups is the Jordy training montage!! wowza marry me already i am finally ready to come in from the wilds to pasture at the green grass that is my bestie jordy. saddle me up and trot me around i'll be your little show pony forever! we love you jordy forever and ever!!!
This was insanely cool, and the last minute of this was the most wholesome thing I'll ever see on the internet. Also, the hate for speed stacking from cubers is really weird, since they arguably occupy the same space in terms of what makes either activity impressive as a sport. Also also, the Speed Stacks stranglehold as the official WSSA cup (and the reasoning behind it) eminds me of Major League Baseball. Albert G. Spalding co-founded the National League in 1876. As a result, his company either directly or indirectly made the official MLB baseball for 100 years until Rawlings (which Spalding owned for a while) took that throne. Fearless prediction: Solo will take over as the official cup of sport stacking in 2101.
This is honestly a really well edited and researched video, such a great watch. Iconic Also as someone who has been sport stacking for almost 10 years (it feels so strange to say that) there is that “weird feeling” of saying “yeah I post UA-cam videos of me stacking plastic cups” and used to have that awkwardness if someone asking me about about, but I 100% relate to that feeling of cloud 9 of that record being broken. Again very fun video to watch!
Im so glad you heard the skrillex song when it was out, bc learning the lore of that now would just not be the same. I don’t really listen to skrillex anymore, but weirdly enough I listened to bangarang earlier today and I think it holds up!!! Love this type of vid. Niche hobbies of 90s/00s are so fun. Like when Kurtis Connor did fushigi Aww the 11 21 moment was so cute
Dude, let me tell you. From ages 10-13, sport stacking was a huge part of my life. I recorded videos, participated in a talent show, even broke under 10 seconds (before I deleted that video off UA-cam lol). I will tell you that it had a big effect on my hand eye coordination as a musician and an athlete. You did a great job covering the history of this and even had some information I didn't even know about with the Flash Cups beef. I was big in it for years and dropped off after I started getting into other hobbies, so kudos to you for coming back and breaking your own PB!
I saw the thumbnail and it awakened some deep dark memory of seeing this somewhere, still not sure where. I love how 90s it is, and honestly wish "silly" casual sports like this were more popular. It's really cool!
No clue why the algorithm recommended this too me as I have no relation to you or speed stacking, but I ended up inhaling this vid! I really enjoyed your passion and presentation style.
My mom tried to get speed stacking to catch on at the school that she taught at, I remember doing it once or twice and I just didn't get it, but she was trying so hard, she believed, this brought a smile to my face reminding me of that time.
i’ve seen this video multiple times and can’t get over how well put together it is. the editing is amazing and i find something new each time to appreciate ❣️ very entertaining and nostalgic
I think its a huge issue, especially in america, that anything that isnt one of the BIG "socially acceptable sports" isnt considered a sport on a social level. Cup stacking, esports, ice skating, etc get shafted as "not real sports" when they require a TON of skills, practice, patience, etc. I cannot imagine what goes into it in order to close those stacks out in literally seconds. When i watch ice skating with my fiance, and when i watch them on their adult learning journey week after week, i cant imagine the skill and effort that goes into DOING such an incredible sport on a personal level, its crazy admirable to me regarding any of these "not a real sport" sports. Each one deserves so much more credit.
In my school we had this day where it practically completely centred around speed stacks & there was like “professional” stackers who were basically just glorified door to door salesmen & we all done it once each in class and the times were recorded on this big sheet with all our names on & after that day and one turn each we practically never used them again & every once in a while we would look at our scores that for ever hung on a door like oh yeah that was a thing we did that one time.
Seriously one of the most wholesome youtube videos ive seen in a long time. I was a "cuber kid" and always thought that id be too slow and fumbly to be good at stacking. This makes me want to try to beat my record 12 second solve, but also not really because thatd take weeks, months maybe lol.
I have no idea how someone who hasn't been into stacking for a decade can explain this so incredibly well. I have stacked for 6 years and been very active in the community every day for 5 years, and I couldn't have explained any of this any better. Quite possibly the best stacking explainer video out there. Really impressive! Oh, and now of course: go for the 9;)
Found this video on my recommended section, very enjoyable and amazing editing, had to leave a comment after seeing the view/sub count. Looking forward to your success! Keep it going :)
Loved this video! A little different but fun and loved the "Training session 4 montage" toward the end. Happy Holidays and hope you have a great New Year!
Honestly made my heart flutter a bit hearing that Speed Stacking is still a thing, however niche. No one in my school thought I was cool for taking it seriously but this video brought back a lot of incredible memories of the meetups and hours spent playing and watching it in middle school. Appreciate this
First video I've seen from you and when I flipped my phone out of full screen I was shocked to see you only have 24k subs. If you keep this quality up with your very watchable personality, i have no doubts you're going to be very big.
And it’s not because I think speed stacking is silly or something to laugh at it’s because you have a wonderful sense of humour. Your unbridled 13 year old joy, I’ve never been more aware of a toilet in my life, I hope Pablo is watching this. Thank you.
Bro, i was OBSESSED with this crap in elementary school. I had the white ones with flames, some sick glow in the dark ones, and some mini metal cups. So much nastalgia.
Uff this was a crazy good video! But please add the word speed stacking to the title - a lot of people would probably click on the video because speed stacking is a childhood memory keyword
This is so great, Jordy! All of the time & energy you put into this video definitely paid off. Also, the joy of young Jordy is something I aspire to reach as well. Somehow, I totally missed this Speed Stacks phenomenon, but I am glad to experience what I missed through your video. :)
I rarely ever leave comments on videos, but this one is a hidden gem that I'm glad the algorithm brought me to. The storytelling, the editing, everything is top notch. Great job, Jordy - you got a new subscriber :)
this is my time to brag about myself before complimenting the video: i've been a top level stacker for 15+ years and have been on the US national team longer than anyone else by this point, and ive seen a lot of stacking content in my time and this is definitely a top 5 stacking related video. everything you mentioned is pretty accurate and it shows that youve done your research before making this so kudos to you for that. hope to see you at the competition table one day
Pretty much every boy in my grade was obsessed with speed stacks. I practiced every day to improve my times. My record for the full cycle was 10.00 as I could never quite get under 10 seconds. Eventually my timer broke and I got interested in other activities but it was a fun time.
I knew almost nothing about speed stacking, but your title/thumbnail had me intrigued and then the fantastic edit combined with you interlacing the story of you training to beat your 12 year old self kept me watching. Incredible content you earned a sub here.
when i was in elementary school a kid in the grade above me held a sport stacking world record for a bit and it was such a Big Deal (yes i went to a small school). this kid came out to show off his sport stacking skills at pretty much every assembly and was basically a celebrity long after sport stacking stopped being a Thing.
I love this so much! my family and I cup stack at Christmas and it's so fun!!! I'm going to show them when I see them and I think they are going to love you and this video!
The nostalgia I felt when I heard the Nintendo eShop music at 2:40 was like a ton of bricks hitting me in the face! I'm so glad It was in this video! Great video!
hahaha this video randomly popped up in my recommended and i’m so glad it did! ✨ the production value ✨ the incredible display of stacking talent and skill ✨ the toilet in the corner ✨ seriously: how does this not have more views?
Saw my husband watching this video, sat down with him for a couple minutes and then subscribed on the spot. You're so funny and your editing is genius wtf
I just now when I look at the clock now and it’s 11:21 your friends voice will ring in my ears until the day I die. I’ve absorbed that moment. It has become a part of my being.
I love videos like these that unlock random obscure memories from your past/childhood. As soon as I saw some of this video I was like “why do I have memories of doing this?” Then you mentioned it being brought into schools for gym and memories flooded back of the 2000’s gym class and doing this.
I need to make a formal announcement about the Pitch Perfect Cup Song not being mentioned ✨😜
Speed Stacks/sport stacking/cup stacking is literally not in Pitch Perfect y'all! no bc why was i doing this shit in gym class
truly unreal
that's so odd

Thank you Austin!! Always good to have you here, hope you had a fab new year too!
My auDHD is so pleased every time jordy posts. Thanks for mentioning the sounds, that was my favorite part too.
You are criminally underrated and I can't wait to be that hipster that brags about being subbed since back when you were still under 25K subs
this means the WORLD
Honestly made my heart flutter a bit hearing that Speed Stacking is still a thing, however niche. No one in my school thought I was cool for taking it seriously but this video brought back a lot of incredible memories of the meetups and hours spent playing and watching it in middle school.
Appreciate this
this has got to be one of my favorite videos of yours!
im so so so glad!!! 🥹
I loooveeee hearing about specific UA-cam communities I was never in. Plz do more of this
i have plenty
this was actually amazing jordy ty for making this
so glad you liked it!
First video I've seen from you and when I flipped my phone out of full screen I was shocked to see you only have 24k subs.
If you keep this quality up with your very watchable personality, i have no doubts you're going to be very big.
I have not laughed this hard during a UA-cam video in I genuinely don’t know how long so thank you
And it’s not because I think speed stacking is silly or something to laugh at it’s because you have a wonderful sense of humour. Your unbridled 13 year old joy, I’ve never been more aware of a toilet in my life, I hope Pablo is watching this. Thank you.
Great video. Well paced. I like how you took breaks from your own stacking journey and cut back to the history bits.
Bro, i was OBSESSED with this crap in elementary school. I had the white ones with flames, some sick glow in the dark ones, and some mini metal cups. So much nastalgia.
THE FLAMES?? Thats iconic
not sure why i clicked but im very glad i did :) u rock dude!
You look like Chelsea Peretti. Also we only had yoyo assemblies growing up, a speed stacks assembly would have been cool.
Uff this was a crazy good video! But please add the word speed stacking to the title - a lot of people would probably click on the video because speed stacking is a childhood memory keyword
I think the reason we as Cubers comment on a lot of this is bc we both do weird nerdy events that are more than meets the eye
I don’t think I’ve seen a higher quality video on this, thank you! Very thorough and well done.
omg thank you!
This is so great, Jordy! All of the time & energy you put into this video definitely paid off. Also, the joy of young Jordy is something I aspire to reach as well. Somehow, I totally missed this Speed Stacks phenomenon, but I am glad to experience what I missed through your video. :)
Thank you so much queen amy!
I rarely ever leave comments on videos, but this one is a hidden gem that I'm glad the algorithm brought me to. The storytelling, the editing, everything is top notch. Great job, Jordy - you got a new subscriber :)
this is my time to brag about myself before complimenting the video:
i've been a top level stacker for 15+ years and have been on the US national team longer than anyone else by this point, and ive seen a lot of stacking content in my time and this is definitely a top 5 stacking related video. everything you mentioned is pretty accurate and it shows that youve done your research before making this so kudos to you for that. hope to see you at the competition table one day
this means the world to me!! also congrats!
It was very adorable watching your posture and body language start to look like that old video as you started getting into it again
I have no idea how I ended up here but this is some fuckin quality content
thank you!!!
omg the teacher featured at 8:19 was MY PE teacher, that explains why the WSSA norcal championships were hosted in my town 😭
NO WAY HAHAHHA THATS AMAZING
Came here after the Drew Gooden shoutout and I gotta say this did not disappoint
"I like the sound the cups make"
Bruh, dudes will spend literally THOUSANDS of dollars chasing a particular sound their keyboard makes lol.
i also am a keyboard luvr LOL
Pretty much every boy in my grade was obsessed with speed stacks. I practiced every day to improve my times. My record for the full cycle was 10.00 as I could never quite get under 10 seconds. Eventually my timer broke and I got interested in other activities but it was a fun time.
I knew almost nothing about speed stacking, but your title/thumbnail had me intrigued and then the fantastic edit combined with you interlacing the story of you training to beat your 12 year old self kept me watching. Incredible content you earned a sub here.
Just starting the video and I’m already hyped for this topic 👏
That ending with the call was just 👌
Seeing you nerd out over this craze is one of the most endearing things I've seen in a while.
Props.
I’m actually losing it at your reaction to the PR
i shocked myself at how obscene i acted
The 360° + slamming your body into the wall
finding a new niche youtube channel that will inevitably blow up over the next year >>, also editing is spot on
when i was in elementary school a kid in the grade above me held a sport stacking world record for a bit and it was such a Big Deal (yes i went to a small school). this kid came out to show off his sport stacking skills at pretty much every assembly and was basically a celebrity long after sport stacking stopped being a Thing.
wait thats so iconic hahahha
So this video unlocked some memories, as I went to the same high school as the daughter of the Speed Stacks founder. Great video!
I love this so much! my family and I cup stack at Christmas and it's so fun!!! I'm going to show them when I see them and I think they are going to love you and this video!
omg this is so sweet
The nostalgia I felt when I heard the Nintendo eShop music at 2:40 was like a ton of bricks hitting me in the face! I'm so glad It was in this video! Great video!
Jordy: watches stacking vid from childhood
Jordy’s facial expression during said video:immediately no
its truly cringe exposure therapy
@@jordyscomputer I'm so glad I was too old for youtube as a kid. The cringe from home movies was enough as it is.
hahaha this video randomly popped up in my recommended and i’m so glad it did! ✨ the production value ✨ the incredible display of stacking talent and skill ✨ the toilet in the corner ✨ seriously: how does this not have more views?
I WAS SO OBSESSED WITH SPEED STACKING
TASTE
Saw my husband watching this video, sat down with him for a couple minutes and then subscribed on the spot. You're so funny and your editing is genius wtf
this is the first video i've watched of yours and you're so awesome wtf ? i'm so happy i came across this video
not the training montage 😂 great video!
I just now when I look at the clock now and it’s 11:21 your friends voice will ring in my ears until the day I die. I’ve absorbed that moment. It has become a part of my being.
omg this means everything
I love videos like these that unlock random obscure memories from your past/childhood. As soon as I saw some of this video I was like “why do I have memories of doing this?” Then you mentioned it being brought into schools for gym and memories flooded back of the 2000’s gym class and doing this.
