Thanks for your comment, so glad you like them, makes it all worthwhile (though as you can probably tell, I enjoy playing, teching and making them so much I would probably do it even if there was no audience!). All the best from rainy London to a hopefully brighter CT 👍
I did instal Wudtone CP 50S with narrower string spacing (54 mm) and Highwood saddles into my Fender CS strat. Great sustain and tone with much better tuning stability. Great upgrade!
Good idea and I’d be interested to whether it works for you. You may sacrifice very slightly on intonation. It’ll cost you under £15 and the only residue if you decide it’s not for you will be three inconspicuous extra holes on the back lip of the bridge plate
The Wilkinson saddles may deliver what you want, Bob but if they don’t I can recommend the Gotoh equivalents. They’re a bit dearer but they are my go-to’s 🙄👍
@@Rockbeareguitars I have a Gotoh bridge on one Tele and a cheap-and-cheerful version on the other - there’s a very noticeable difference acoustically (which might be due to different body woods - Swamp Ash / Alder) and I’m interested to know if fitting a better bridge would improve the resonance. That’ll be my next upgrade!
Thank you. It’s the Tera Echo and Modulated Reverb modules in my trusty Boss MS-3. I thought it might be a bit too affected to show off the mod which is why there’s also some playing without fx at the end.
I'm interested to know how you'll feel about the intonation down the track, as I've removed a couple of these from my telecasters after having ongoing headaches in that department. Interesting though, I do have a Strat here that I've had some bridge trouble with, so I'm certainly open to the idea of trying one out.
Glad you enjoyed it. This really is a very interesting, cheap - and cool - mod. The more I play it, the better it sounds. Cold and bright this morning but more damp murk forecast by the way.
Yeah sure for "some" strats. But I'm OUT with this mod. Yeah having brass on the 3 saddle bridge and having 2 strings on the saddle, will increase the twang and sustain. Over standard single individual steel saddles. But the HUGE disadvantage of quickly intonating when you put new strings on, changing the position of the saddle on one side, also affecting the position of the saddle you have set for the other string on the saddle.....the percentage twang increase, is simply not worth the hassle. Same with tuners. Locking tuners... Yeah original brass vintage geared tuners may increase the sustain of a string. But the extra time and hassle mucking around with securing strings on vintage tuners, for the percentage increase in sustain, over some cheap asian locking tuner upgrade, Again not worth it.
Fair comment. If you’re more preoccupied with fine intonation tuning than altering the guitar’s response, you shouldn’t even bother trying this cheap, easily reversible mod (or consider using a telecaster, one of the greatest instruments ever). I’ve met many people who opine similarly on the shortcomings of wraptail Les Paul’s. Again, never been an issue for me, nor the legion of great players that have embraced them. Each to their own, but I respectfully think “absolute nonsense” is excessive.
Thanks! Your Strat has a beautiful tone. Anyone would be proud to play/own it. Well done! Thanks again! 👍👍
Brilliant. Love these well thought out practical tips and advice. (CT, USA)

Totally getting one ! Never heard of that
Interesting video. Might try it on my Squier Bullet Hardtail Strat.

Never seen such a thing! I really like 3 brass saddles on my (partscaster) Teles and have yet to mod my old (Squier) Strat.

Thanks, interesting. The Wilkinsons arrived and went on yesterday and sound terrific but it remains to be seen how far I might take this!

Wonderful tone and playing at 3:30 ish. :)

What’s the product name again please? I may order one tonight!
Great playing btw.

absolute nonsense...why would anyone purposely reduce their ability to fine tune? And ya had to go out of your way with effort to do it

And ridiculously rude
Good tone is a sum of nuances. I wonder if you're the kind of person who believes there is no difference between alder and ash bodies ?
