Picked up a purple passion royal python just over 2 weeks ago now. She's fed twice (every Sunday), and I'm hoping to start socialising after the next feed. The best video I've seen on this so far. I think it has a lot to do with your laid back personality Bob. I'm less stressed and gaining more confidence because of your videos. Your "brother" needs to watch Messi from I Am Puma sleep and cuddle like a house cat with his owner.
I keep my snake out until he either gets really sleepy and just sleeps on me (so the stimulus of being in the bedroom with my partner and I, just exploring the bed is no longer advantage to him) or he starts to seem to really want to go under the blankets/in this little house I made him with two exits and a false bottom/under us. He doesn't get stressed often and when he does he lets us know it. He's got quite the little personality. If we do something that annoys him, he'll squeeze one of us super tight. When he gets a little stressed, he straightens his whole body out and just wiggles about until we stop what bothered him. I can calm him down in second and nearly always put him back after if called him down. I find he likes when I squeeze him in a big hug, _very very very_ gently. It almost always calms him. And, a lot of the time when we put him back to soon, he just goes and presses himself against his enclosure as his sign that he wants back out. We open the door and he even just climbs right out onto us sometimes. He does a couple of other things that is a little... Odd. So, Sans, our whole-ass Blue-eyed Leucistic Ball Python loves faces. Noses are his favorite. Because of this, any time he was on my face I started giving him kisses. I won't kiss anywhere past the middle of his body lengthwise, and I won't kiss his tummy/underside. It's where he comes into contact with his substrate and to close to his vent. Mostly, I kiss his neck and his head. I know what you're thinking... "HE LETS YOU KISS HIS HEAD?!" Yes. Not only does his head, I kids his snoot. Not only do I kids his snoot, he will full on, I shit you not, no his nose into my lips until I kiss him. He will push his neck into me until I kiss him. He gives kisses back. Sometimes he'll just hear me make the kissing noises now and he'll boop my mouth it's freaking adorable. No one believed me at first but then my son saw it... Then my partner saw it and was the final step so far, my son made kissy noises the just other day, because until then I was the only one who could get him to do it, and Sans booped my son's mouth. He was ecstatic lol. It's is his snake after all. That's another story actually. My son had fish and he loved them. Hee took very good care of them and they all eventually died of old age. He took such good care of them one felt comfortable enough to give birth in his care (that species can stop the gestation from taking place if not comfortable enough that her babies will be somewhat safe. Despite there being other fish in his tank, is was so well escaped that two of the babies were able to hide, grow, and they died a few months after their mother whom outlived the usual lifespan for mollies. My points here are: he was super sad and after he had enough time to grieve he started thinking of what pet he may want next; and he was so good at talking care of his pets that his dad and I were more than happy to get him a new pet. Being that I have loved snakes my whole life, lost my first and only snake ever in a breakup, and had just gotten into watching Snake UA-cam, I suggested he get a snake right out the gate. I told him which were the best first snake owner/most child friendly breeds, roughly how to care for a snake, and how interactive they are compared to fish. He wanted something he could cuddle with so I suggested a ball python. He was on board. I showed him a bunch of different morphs and he asked which I liked. I told him the BEL was my bucket snake and he agreed they were beautiful. He then came up with his name and it was set. Sans is three name of a skeleton in the videogame Undertale. He is all white… of course, and has a blue eye. The funny thing is, Sans(the snake) for some reason has a bit of pink in his eyes. I looked everywhere and still have no idea why. I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that his Lucy comes from bananas, which have some albinism in them... He's also technically scales despite only having a single missing scale in the middle of his head😂. This though, is why my kid is a super-baby: we made a deal. If he got something around $100 or less, we'd pay for the whole thing. If he wanted something more expensive, he'd have to save up for it, but we would get his enclosure and everything to go with it. We also promised to pay for the rats. So he started saving. He saved for like, 5 or so years and finally, were were ready. We had a really difficult time finding a Lucy because they're just not "in fashion" right now and after going to two conventions and scoring morph market Canada, I finally went on Kijiji… basically Craigslist, but Craigslist here in Canada isn't allowed to post animals for some reason. My kid even handed the breeder the money himself when we met up at Starbucks. It's was chilly so Sans got to ride home in his little bag, on Grandma's (my) tummy, just tucked under her (my) hoodie.
How do you not have 1k likes on all of your videos you are so great! You'r funny and always make me laugh. Also do you keep holding you'r snake if they don't go back into their in enclosure?🐍
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! It depends on how much time you have. If a snake doesn't want to go back in and I have time to keep them out then I will, otherwise I just put them back. It's pretty rare though that they wouldn't instinctively go back into their enclosure
It took my 11mo corn 40 minutes to come onto my hand to be handled yesterday, I don't reach in and grab them. That was the longest 40 minutes of my life. A quick 15 minute session, then a trip back into her viv. One day I hope the ratio flips the other way, but she's still snack sized at the moment. My other one is in blue, so I'm just checking on her now and then.
My banana, who is now 800g, will crawl out onto my hand without hesitation. She is the smartest ball I have ever owned! I have a couple stories for patreon!
I had adopted a milksnake that wouldnt let anyone handle him and was always so stressed out and tense when someone touched him. I've worked alot with him and now he is super chill and totally fine with being handled by me, when someone else holds him tho he tenses up again and when I offer my hand he immediatly comes back to me😅 I've got two baby bcc's now too and my girl is really defensive, she sure is alot of work, but Im positive I'll manage somehow.
Just want to say the patreon group of green room pythons doesn’t disappoint and is well worth the money in my opinion! Love the help I get from this channel and group! Hard to find someone who really tries their best to help you out with whatever situation you have with pythons!
It is hard to show my hand to our Dobby, he is a real cave potatoe. We never/very rarely see him at all. I usually check on himmwhen I check on Julia (sleeping) when I go to bed. The lights go out at 9 pm in the vivarium and we try to keep the light in Julia’s room very soft after this (fairy lights and such). On a school night she goes to sleep around that time (or up to an hour later sometimes). Anyway. I go to sleep about 11-12-isch, but I almost never see him. Not in the mornings either (lights on 9 am, school starts at 8, so we are up way before that). Suggestions? He does seem quite relaxed (long tongue flicks etc) when we take him out to check on him. He has alot of opportunities to hide when going from the warm end to to cold, so don’t think he feels exposed either. He is just a cave potatoe…. 😅
I think you're right, he's just settled in and comfortable in his hides. He does seem like a very comfortable snake though so taking him out occasionally is probably not a stressful event for him
That baby retic watching you clean is adorbz! My young gopher snake is not quite as approachable. If I present a hand to him all slow like, he will rear up on me. I just gotta grab him up before he has a chance to do that. Then, he tries to flee for a few minutes before giving up and finally relaxing.
This video was perfect timing for me. I just bought a beautiful hypo boa from an expo and I've never had a baby snake before so I've been looking into how to start taming him.
Great video! Seeing how much work you put into your baby snakes I realise how lucky I was personality-wise with mine. When I bought him I learned that he’s almost a year old, and yet he was 76g and spend that year in a rack with basically no enrichment and I doubt that the breeder was doing such big socialising work. One would think that could result in rather nervous snake, but I got lucky and he’s very adventurous, chill and outgoing. Not really crawl onto your hand type, but doesn’t mind handling and for sure will gladly zoom around and explore for 1-2h outside the enclosure type. I’ve literally never seen him balled up or hiss (although my sister claims he hissed at her once 😂).
Waking up to a GRP video!! It’s going to be a great day😉 And to have it be completely about baby snakes……fantastic! The babies look beautiful and their personalities are already so cute. Looks like we’ve got another Tiger Lily too!🐍❤️🐍
Excellent video, I love how much thought and respect you give your snakes. When I first got my boy I put my shirt i had worn in with him in the corner so he could get used to my smell.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I learned alot from this video, I've now been able to get my timid baby ball python out and have her hang out on me, my husband highly recommended your videos, and I will be recommending them as well
Thank you! I’m about a month out from purchasing my own baby ball python and I was hoping to find a video on this topic, more specifically, I was hoping it would be published by you😊
Really appreciate this video, Bob! It is really amazing how you are so in-tune with the behaviors of even the newest hatchlings. Very excited to apply these techniques with Guinevere and see how confidence evolves over time! Thanks!
Hey, Bob! We just got our bb snek, Apple. I have had a Ball before and I don't know what it is, but I'm suddenly worried about being bitten by our new snake (could have been the rainbow boa at the recent expo that decided my hand might be food). 😅 He's never struck, he's is quick though. I appreciate your videos! They have been super helpful. I've been working almost daily to gain trust and also work with my new fear. Thank you for all you do! ❤
Happy Birthday Bob! 🎉 So fun to wake up early and find that today's GRP video had already releslased! Those babies are absolute stunners! I can't wait to meet the littlest retic and a couple of those baby ball pythons in a few days. This was a great video for me to send to Katie right before we bring BooBoo home (I don't know if thats his name or not, but thats what I've been calling him)! I hope you've been giving Kayda extra love this past week! 😉😈
Can you please do a video on how to prepare a quaratine set up? Unless there was already a video, I'm a new subscriber and I'm researching ball python keeping. Thank you :)
this video came out at the perfect time i just got my baby papaya last wednesday and wasn’t sure how to properly handle her, thank you for another great video!!!😊
Snake whisperer! Some great video footage of "relaxed" baby snakes. Awesome to see this instead of the usual pick them up every day forced handling style of habituation and surrender. Small point your video showed, but not everyone picks up on is tongue flicks. How do I know my snake is tense vs relaxed? Tongue flicks! If your snake freezes and is not tongue flicking at all, he's doing the "if I don't move, he can't see me" freezing in fright thing. The first indication you get that your snake is starting to relax, even before it moves is tongue flicks. A key indicator for anyone new to snakes. Great to see you encouraging "handling" without necessarily touching. I have hatchlings that actually free roam in the exact same way the adults do and they all stop at the Ikea Paper Rack and do the scenting thing, just like the adults. Nothing stresses out a hatchling quicker than just diving in and picking it up. Hatchlings can and I believe should be socialised at their pace on their terms and in most cases without touching, at least to begin with. I was actually a bit worried to watch this video, afraid of what you were going to show and recommend. I need not have worried.
Thanks Rob, that's a really good point about the tongue flicking. I've covered that in other videos but I should have included it in this one as well. Glad you enjoyed the video!
The timing is sooo perfect!!! I just got my little Mojave pied BallPython and he’s super docile but he is skittish. So I’m trying to get him used to my smell and handling. I just can’t make sudden movements 😅
Thank you for videos like this!! My interest (*obsession…?) in ball pythons as been growing and growing and I’m finally thinking it’s time for me to get one! But of course I’m nervous about doing it right😅 Between you and Snake Discovery, I’ve learned so much! (And got to watch some very purdy sneks!) Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thanks for the video, I'm getting my first hatching (and snake) at a reptile expo next week so I'm learning everything i can about socializing these babies. What perfect timing!
Great video with helpful content as always. I’ll definitely incorporate some of these techniques with a clutch that should be hatching in about a week. Thanks, Bob!
Absolutely brilliant. Just love your whole attitude with your snakes. Can't find my name on the patron scroll yet 😂 I assume you were busy herping. Better luck next time you're out! 😊
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The last couple videos that came out were shot a few weeks ago. Send me a message on Patreon though and when I get back into town I'll make sure your name is on the board. I'm guessing it is though at this point :-)
I noticed my snake likes to leave it's enclosure a lot. So I started tapping the enclosure before opening it. Now if it's awake and I tap, I will usually see a little face appear in the entrance to the hide.
Another great video! I'm not sure what it means but when I'm ending a handling session and point my snakes head into the direction of her enclosure, she almost always doubles back and heads away from it. She seems to always want to be out exploring. Any time I open the door, she comes right out.
@GreenRoomPythons I've made quite a few changes over the 2 months I've had her. I built two PVC shelves. Initially I had just two hides, now she has 6 spread throughout her enclosure. She seems content but when I have the door open, she seems to want to explore. I had a few wood features but one day the humidity got high after I cleaned her enclosure and they got mold overnight where they touched the substrate. So I removed them. (And re-cleaned her entire enclosure)
I love this video. All the characteristics you explain about snakes are amazing. Your guidance has been so spot on for me and my first BP. I was wondering though, my guy is really a chill little thing but today he seemed really much more active than usual. Then a short time later we got this wicked storm. Do they sense things like that?
Hi Bob and Kent, my girl Starburst (Stardust Diamond Python-Carpet), is getting board with her enrichment. I am from Kodiak Alaska and am limited to Sitka Spruce(a big no,no), and a ?maybe Sitka Alder, for trees to harvest branches from. Do you both😆 think, perhaps the Alder branches cleaned would be suitable for her enrichment happiness. It is supposed to be a softer but classified hardwood. Any input is much appreciated! Always watching, and enjoying, and Cama’i (Hello/Thank you) from Alaska🤙
@GreenRoomPythons I asked this before I found an adult for adoption! She's not breedable but otherwise healthy (vet checked). I pick her up next weekend. I will def check out your livestock should I decide to get another! I'm excited to give an older adult snake, who has passed through a few hands, a chance at a soft landing.
Thank you for the awesome tips Bob! Did you do these socializing techniques with handsome Dan? I recently got a 3 year old boa that I want to do the sticking the hand in the enclosure technique with her but I'm scared she'll bite because I know boas have a pretty big feeding response. Not to mention I'm also putting her on a diet right now because her past owners were overfeeding her a little bit. Thanks for the amazing content! (:
Just got my baby childrens python. And i very much like your take on taming more then alot of what ive seen. One guy said to hold the snake everyday for an hour or so at a time. Even as an intelligent human with the ability to understand.. stuff. I would hate that.
I gave my girl a few days to settle in. but I just had to clean her paper towels and so obviously I had to hold her for a tiny bit, and she is just so curious. I love it. best decision I've made. @@GreenRoomPythons
I love the channel and your videos. I was going to get my snakes a couple of the black box hides, but the discount code don't work for hides and the shipping for 2 hides was more than the cost of the hides. 😢
Desperate question. I have a Ball Python who didn’t eat for 5 months. (December-May) the. He ate 2 larger size mice now he is back on a fast since June 15. He is 2 years old approximately and weighs 705 grams. He seems to be afraid of prey whether it is live or frozen thaw. He feel a bit squishy. His activity level is good is you take him out, but will stay in his hide forever if you let him. I don’t know what else to do and I am starting to get nervous that he may one day die. Any thoughts, suggestions? His environment is pretty on point.
He won't starve himself to death but you could try changing up his entire enclosure. Give him all new stuff and make sure he has plenty of security. That sometimes works.
Hi Bob! So i just got my snake (yesterday) and i need some help. So yesterday when he came home with me, i got him a little box. Got his hide his water and everything. But it was small for him he tried to push the lid off. so i got him a big one and it seems like its perfect for him. He is 2 months old btw. Yesterday i saw him looking around in the box so i took the lid off to see what ge does. He crawled onto my hand right away checked me out started to explore he seemed soo confident it was weird at first. But today it hit him. He realized he was taken from his old place. He started to hide all day. I checked the heat it was 25 Celsius. So i bought a heat pad for him and brought it up to 30-32 on one side. And anotger question is do they need heat pad when they are is that box? Like you have yours on a rack and it doesnt have heat. So is 25 good or i can use the heat pad? So back where i checked the heat, he struck at my finger it might scared him bc i moved my hand in front of his hide. And today i checked the heat again and i took his hide to see what he does. I went in for the temperature mesure thing and he was trying to struck my hand. How do i deal with this? He changed soo much in 1 night. Is it the heat pad? Is that high heat stresses him out? Its my first snake and i want the best for him. He hasn’t eaten since he is with me but his breeder fed him on last monday. I ordered food on what comes before yesterday? Im sorry my english is pretty bad. So i ordered his food 2 days ago and they sent me an email that they are packing it now so im expecting it on tomorrow. I will see if he eats or not. Please help me give the best for my snake. I watched almost all of your videos but im a little frustrated by this. Im not sure about the heat pad but I consider 25 is low for him. Ik when he eats he needs heat for digesting and i shouldnt handle him for 72 hours. Im planning on putting him in his terrarium soon. Help me out bob you are the best i know. Thank you soo much again waiting for your reply
Just make sure you're around 85-90° on the warm end and 75-80° on the cool end. Don't handle or feed for about a week. Watch my ball python care guide video, that should help
Great video, thank you! Question: my very first clutch just crawled out, and several of the babies are inquisitive (tongue flicking and slowly investigating things) already. Nobody seems afraid, defensive, etc. What is normal for brand new babies? I somehow expected them to be really scared and defensive and so far they aren’t. I transferred them to a clean tub with wet paper towel today and nobody reacted poorly to being handled. Is this normal? Will they change at some point?
So we just got a new juvenile ball python about a week and a half ago we fed him 2 days ago and we just handled him for the first time today! His name is Henry but as I held him he kinda just stayed really still is that normal or am I stressing him out?
@@GreenRoomPythons Thanks, I might have been just as nervous as he was as I've never held a snake before until then. I appreciate the videos and all the information its given a ton of helpful insight into things I would have otherwise never known. Henry appreciates you too
Dumb question but in heating vids everyone says hot spot 90 cool side 80.if ur using a heat pad for the hit side how is the cool side staying at 80? Is 80 just maintained in the room itself
I never really notice my baby ball python come out at all. During night and day, is there a reason for that? He's a few months old and has ate and shed with me already. His enclosure is fully dark at night as well.
Yes, there is good reason for that. These snakes are asleep the majority of the day. If they do venture out it's probably during a time that you have been asleep and not watching
They use all of their senses to determine what food is. The main one they're using is their tongue/Jacobson's organ. Their heat pits just tell them that something warm is in front of them.
My mom has pet rats, if i get a ball python. Does my mom have to worry about the snake catching their scent and make any moves even though they are on a different floor and room?
So what if I have a deeper tub I have tried it and still struggling with my young Cali king And also have aspen bedding and hardly ever see her out because of the hide and bedding please help
Ball Python Family! I have a problem and need help. My sons snake enclosure broke! Its currently being kept in a dollar store container. I am unemployed and pursuing disability and cannot afford to buy another enclosure. I dont want my son to have to give up his pet. Please help me!

Wow, thank you for a very good tutorial on taming the little youngsters. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's great!
so good Bob baby snakes so cute n points you made so impt. n interesting .looks like a tiger Lilly how pretty ..❤
I had adopted a milksnake that wouldnt let anyone handle him and was always so stressed out and tense when someone touched him.
I've worked alot with him and now he is super chill and totally fine with being handled by me, when someone else holds him tho he tenses up again and when I offer my hand he immediatly comes back to me😅
I've got two baby bcc's now too and my girl is really defensive, she sure is alot of work, but Im positive I'll manage somehow.
Just want to say the patreon group of green room pythons doesn’t disappoint and is well worth the money in my opinion! Love the help I get from this channel and group! Hard to find someone who really tries their best to help you out with whatever situation you have with pythons!
I FINALLY SIGNED UP TO YOUR PATREON!!! MUWAHAHA!!! aherm.. I look forward to future snake videos!
Congrats! Welcome to the Horde of Keepers!
Thank you thank you! @@GreenRoomPythons
My son went to the Pomona reptile show today, My biggest mission was to find you and Kent LOL , have a great night
Oh shoot, I'm out of town :-/
He does seem like a very comfortable snake though so taking him out occasionally is probably not a stressful event for him
Both of mine are exactly the same. If I didn't take them out myself, they'd never come out and I'd never see them
That baby retic watching you clean is adorbz! My young gopher snake is not quite as approachable. If I present a hand to him all slow like, he will rear up on me. I just gotta grab him up before he has a chance to do that. Then, he tries to flee for a few minutes before giving up and finally relaxing.
Aww your quarantined snake is the cutest!! He was watching every little thing you were doing😍😍
Lovely care info on taming baby snakes. I remember when I got my Sterling when he was younger. 🥹❤
Glad you liked it!
Waking up to a GRP video!! It’s going to be a great day😉 And to have it be completely about baby snakes……fantastic! The babies look beautiful and their personalities are already so cute. Looks like we’ve got another Tiger Lily too!🐍❤️🐍
Glad you liked it Lori, it accidentally came out early ;-)
Excellent video, I love how much thought and respect you give your snakes. When I first got my boy I put my shirt i had worn in with him in the corner so he could get used to my smell.
I watched when the video dropped because nightshift but wanted to comment too for the algo so decided to after the second viewing
Aw thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I learned alot from this video, I've now been able to get my timid baby ball python out and have her hang out on me, my husband highly recommended your videos, and I will be recommending them as well
That's great, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks bro, a snake is going to be my first pet so i want to do all the research and your video is really helpfull
Thanks!
New to snake husbandry. Love this channel, very informative. I have a cinnamon BP, and he is doing great.
Congrats on your new snake, glad you're enjoying the channel!
Congrats on your new snake!
Thanks Amy! I hope you and Katie have a good time exploring the Green Room all by yourself! :-)
aww ka da so pretty n love your new s.. dwarf baby ❤
FYI love your channel and info
I appreciate that!
Can you please do a video on how to prepare a quaratine set up? Unless there was already a video, I'm a new subscriber and I'm researching ball python keeping. Thank you :)
I have a couple videos on what to do when you get a new snake and in those I cover quarantine setups.
this video came out at the perfect time i just got my baby papaya last wednesday and wasn’t sure how to properly handle her, thank you for another great video!!!😊
Congrats on your new snake!
Excellent and helpful presentation.
Those babies are *so* beautiful!
caught it early! love to see some baby snakes
It accidentally came out way early so I'm glad you were able to catch it;
I have a fm I call her striker. She stays stiff takes a while for her to loosen up. She is the only 1 I have 5 males that are all chill
FYI , you officially have a new subscriber 👊🏼 another excellent video

Thanks for the video, I'm getting my first hatching (and snake) at a reptile expo next week so I'm learning everything i can about socializing these babies. What perfect timing!
Congrats on your new snake!
Great video with helpful content as always. I’ll definitely incorporate some of these techniques with a clutch that should be hatching in about a week. Thanks, Bob!
I've been watching a lot of different reptile channels but I always return here because you always seem so in tune with your animals🥰
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Wonderful and informative video as always Bob! Going to save this for when I get that super dwarf baby from you!
Thanks Kieu! ;-)
Absolutely brilliant. Just love your whole attitude with your snakes.

@GreenRoomPythons Aww thank you. It's my daughter that keeps asking. She's so excited about it 🤣. She also says hi to Kent! Take care

So happy I discovered your channel this is exactly what I was looking for! Very insightful video thank you :D!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Very very interesting I like that approach I gonna try all this tips for my grumpy carpets python
Oh yeah you can by the way say to Kent that carpets python are not deadly 😅
I noticed my snake likes to leave it's enclosure a lot. So I started tapping the enclosure before opening it. Now if it's awake and I tap, I will usually see a little face appear in the entrance to the hide.
That’s such a great idea! I may try that with mine, thanks for sharing ❤
Awesome vid! That perch in the quarantine tub is neat. Whered you get?
Thanks, that came from specialty enclosure designs.
Another great video! I'm not sure what it means but when I'm ending a handling session and point my snakes head into the direction of her enclosure, she almost always doubles back and heads away from it. She seems to always want to be out exploring. Any time I open the door, she comes right out.
Change up her enclosure a bit and see if she behaves differently.
They can sense barometric pressure which a lot of times triggers breeding behavior but I don't notice anything other than that
Hi Bob and Kent, my girl Starburst (Stardust Diamond Python-Carpet), is getting board with her enrichment.
Do you ever sell your babies? Yours are beautiful and clearly well cared for.
Thank you! I do sell babies and I just shipped some off the other day. They all go to my Patreon supporters off of waiting lists.
I appreciate the effort to make a herping video, I hope you get a more successful outing soon! And as always, thank you for the care information!!
I have a really exciting herping trip coming up next month :-)
Thank you for the awesome tips Bob! Did you do these socializing techniques with handsome Dan? I recently got a 3 year old boa that I want to do the sticking the hand in the enclosure technique with her but I'm scared she'll bite because I know boas have a pretty big feeding response. Not to mention I'm also putting her on a diet right now because her past owners were overfeeding her a little bit. Thanks for the amazing content! (:
Yep, that technique works great with boas
@@GreenRoomPythons thank you!
Love your stuff Bob!
Thank you!
Just got my baby childrens python. And i very much like your take on taming more then alot of what ive seen. One guy said to hold the snake everyday for an hour or so at a time.
Even as an intelligent human with the ability to understand.. stuff. I would hate that.
Yeah an hour everyday is a bad idea I think
I gave my girl a few days to settle in. but I just had to clean her paper towels and so obviously I had to hold her for a tiny bit, and she is just so curious. I love it. best decision I've made. @@GreenRoomPythons
Would have named her Pearl or Opal. Love love love a white snake with black eyes. Is there anything prettier?
I bet your snakes are a little more tame then the average breeder! I gotta get me a snake named bob from you!
They all get socialized as much as possible before going to new homes :-)
Hii!! I have a question so after i get my snake do i offer them food immediately or wait a couple days? AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Am i the only one that noticed the snake in the background at 4:59 just chilling and exploring 😅
I love the channel and your videos. I was going to get my snakes a couple of the black box hides, but the discount code don't work for hides and the shipping for 2 hides was more than the cost of the hides. 😢
Yeah the discount code only works for enclosures unfortunately
@@GreenRoomPythons it's cool. Im going to order the hides when I get a new enclosure. Keep up the good work. 👍
@@GreenRoomPythons I’ll give it a try. Thanks
@@GreenRoomPythons Changed out everything in cage including the cage and bang he is eating. Thanks !!

They do a "statue" behavior when they're nervous
@@GreenRoomPythons Thanks, I might have been just as nervous as he was as I've never held a snake before until then. I appreciate the videos and all the information its given a ton of helpful insight into things I would have otherwise never known. Henry appreciates you too
Dumb question but in heating vids everyone says hot spot 90 cool side 80.if ur using a heat pad for the hit side how is the cool side staying at 80? Is 80 just maintained in the room itself
Yes, but sometimes you need additional heat on that side of your room is cool
Do you still have the little male retic?
No, that snake has gone to a new home
I have 3 hatchling ball pythons that will strike a me any time I open there enclosure. Any suggestions on how to help them stop being so defensive?
Yes, this video that you're commenting on has lots of tips. Plus I have some other videos that talk about socializing snakes
What do you know, a lot like training a puppy or kitten
Well Done ,,,,, Great Tips ,,, I will apply ,,,, A ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
why are we up at midnight Sunday night.......see I gotta work at 7 in the morn, I bet your sleeping in.
I forgot to designate the time when I uploaded this video a couple weeks ago. Sorry to keep you up but I'm glad you're watching it!
@@GreenRoomPythons lol, i'll have to rewatch it, was half in a coma from wine and pasta.
Out of curiosity. If a snake only knows it’s food by heat then how does a pet snake know that the hand in front of it isn’t not food?
They use all of their senses to determine what food is. The main one they're using is their tongue/Jacobson's organ. Their heat pits just tell them that something warm is in front of them.
@@GreenRoomPythons oh okay, thank you!
My mom has pet rats, if i get a ball python. Does my mom have to worry about the snake catching their scent and make any moves even though they are on a different floor and room?
I've been wanting one, but she's worried about her rats even though I told her that it's unlikely the snake will try and attack her rats.
It wouldn't be a problem at all especially if they're in separate rooms
Hey man I’m trying to convince my mom for a snake and she’s on board but my step dad hates snakes. what should I do or tell him?
Woo. Hey bob and kent. Early
Would I need to quarantine a snake if it would be my only one?
You should set them up minimalistically on paper for the first 30 days so you can check for mites
