I dropped in to help a few low-level divers the other day. I hopped in a mech, mowed down a bunch of clankers, and when I stepped through the fog the newbies started shooting me - it was HILARIOUS
This would be me,but instead of a mech, it's a bombardment of auto cannon rounds followed by an orbital laser and 500kg,all while trying to get samples.
Whenever I get into a tough situation in my life I always remember this. "Do not be afraid" Every time. And I do my best to carry on. And the best part is, I'm not even a Christian. But every time I repeat those words to myself.

This let's the mech actually eat a rocket or two before being annihilated. Survived a rocket devastator multiple times with this strategy. Also for both bugs, if a charger gets close, it's best to backpedal while trying to present a front corner to it's charge. Causes them bounce more often then not. For democracy helldiver's.
In those cases, I still treat the missile like they'll blow me up so I don't fire till I am fully facing the target, and generally I try to stop moving since movement ups the risk factor for misfire.@@omegakiller2007

New mechs really need a buff. Helldivers 1 mechs tanked like 6 rockets. Atleast make our mechs automaton tier where they need 2 rockets and small arms doesn’t hurt
don't worry, they're adding a new one, build for the destruction of the automatons, more resistant, two autocannons, super earth R&D have been working hard.

ok fr tho i think the stratagy of this particular mech on bot planets is way different than bugs. you're GOING TO explode, so unload all you can as fast as you can to clear a path for your team. with bugs, the strategy is long term sustain, but for bots you just want as many threatening enemies and ships down as fast as you can possibly get them

Tried first game a few days ago(it was on sale) and there is hardly any sight more horrifying then friendly mech😅 Context: first game wasn't just top down, it was shared screen. You were leashed to your teammates. And mechs are far slower then players plus suffer from main character syndrome. In Helldivers 2 you can at least throw those fools under the bus an run away😂
Yeah, i usually reserve the mech for Bugs Bots you wanna make yourself as small as possible and carry a lethal gun to snipe them down Bugs, you wanna be a huge menace and have lots of AoE, (plus a guy behind you to take care of the elite bugs)
Also now it takes multiple rockets just to take out chargers because they nerfed the rocket damage for….. whatever reason. Also yeah one hit from the charger no longer kills you but it’s still not much better

I've found you can just sidestep them a lot of the time by angling the side towards the charger and just walking at a slight curve

One issue is there's a bug where it'll bow itself up if you shoot a rocket after turning right, they said they fixed it... they didn't.
The description for the Patriot Mech suit states it is "Heavily armored". And... No, I'd say it's heavily armed... It's pretty much built like butter.
I read on a reply from another comment that there was a bug, it's supposed to be able eat 2 shots from a tank or like 12 devastator rockets.

They are closer to the Marauder Mechsuits of Starship Troopers but at least the Helldiver ones you don't need to be naked 😂
