So getting a longer cable would be good for rear passengers.

Here is a 1 year update: I have a iphone6, works great, mirrors everything fine. Can stream netflix, youtube, and hulu. This bypass works great if you want more functionality with your radio, other than just being a dumb radio and navi. I intended to use this bypass originally as a way to mirror my iphone without having to purchase an aftermarket radio. Hopefully newer cars will just let you do this soon. Anyway, still works great.

Hello all, just a quick update from a happy customer. I’ve had this bypass for a while now and still works great. Here are some tips I learned along the way with installing this bypass. The space behind the head unit is very cramped. The first time I installed it, I used a regular 3ft lightning cable. I discovered its a pain in the ass to use your phone with a short cable so I switched it out for a 6ft one instead. Also, you should note that your cable will go bad at some point and will need to be replaced. My solution was to hae a back up ready to go so I have another 6ft cable rolled up next to where it needs to be plugged so I can swap it out really fast. Also, having a longer cable will allow your front and rear passengers to plug their phone and use it. Im a bit of an audio/videophile so I have headrest monitors and a full system. If its too much trouble for you to do, pay someone to do it. Its all plug and play, very simple. Its jist a matter of taking off a few pieces from the dash and 4 screws holding the radio in. And I just learned that Hulu will allow mirroring now so thats a bit of good news. Good luck installing if you bought one. Or just buy a new radio that allows carplay.

Lol no , You won’t void your warranty by adding this . If you snap the trim piece or break something well then yes , that part wouldn’t be covered . But your warranty is still intact . We install devices just like these , plus remote starts for many local dealerships and have never had a warr problem . We do the work for the dealer , they triple the price and sell it as ‘factory installed’. Any warranty issues regarding equipment are covered by the place that sold it to you .
When I turn off my (Android) phone will the car screen just go black and I will have to manually have to change it back to where it was before, or it automatically changes back?
I agree if you still have to do everything through the phone then the only thing you're really gaining is a larger monitor to view the map. Other than that I think it's too much money. This should be about $75 that $250

Hi Jim: 1) There will be no cable connected to the phone and will be wireless for Android Users. 2) Quality for Video Playback is sharp and clear. Waze map applications also comes out clear. Text messages, Calendars, Google Maps will show pixels and is not as sharp. 3) Yes, if you will never use the factory navigation, you may engage the button and tuck it behind the radio and always keep it on.
Will the controls on the steering wheel still work to make phone calls, raise and lower the volume, change radio stations, When an incoming call comes in can I answer it with the steering wheel button, can I press the speak button and say OK Google
Yes, you can go landscape with iPhone 7 as long as the application supports it. For example, Waze maps supports landscape mode so when you put you phone sideways it will go landscape. However, Facebook application does not support landscape mode, as such even if you put your phone sideways the app will not go landscape. Only plus models you can go landscape on the background. There is really no point on going landscape on the background anyhow so it should not affect non plus model iPhones.

The touch screen wil not work on the Toyota while screen is mirroring and you will have to navigate using your phone. There are some apps that allow continuous display while you lock your phone on an iPhone such as UA-cam Red and Netflex. It's just mirroring, it's NOT controllable from the car screen, you still have to have your fingers on the phone. For me, I won't go through this hassle, my Android Auto gives me control on the car screen for Google maps, while watching UA-cam on the phone. screen.

All your factory functions will work normally. In order to utilize the phone mirroring, you will need to select the new video input source item on your radio. You may at anytime leave the video input source to access your factory features such as your nav or radio.

J Allen the only difference is that the home screen will go to landscape mode in only plus models. All the apps configuration on going landscape will be the same. I’m sure you won’t be on the home screen much so it doesn’t really make a difference on you experience with mirroring whether you use a plus model iPhone or not

To use the car radio, you will have to get out of the AUX mode to Radio mode on your headunit. To listen to a radio while mirroring, you will need to download a radio app on your phone. The on/off switch is for models with navigation as there is a safety feature on Toyota radio to no allow video while the vehicle is in motion. The switch bypasses it. The phone screen will have to remain on to mirror your phone to the car's screen. The phone will also be charging while mirroring if you are concerned about battery life.

@@moneyjorge1 yep, we used a similar device for the 2022 Highlander Platinum. Took some time to get the right apps installed and working correctly but made it through.
With vehicles equipped with Apple Carplay, you may use the phone mirroring to access applications that are not accessible on the Apple Carplay such as UA-cam or Waze. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Yes, the backup camera is operable when the car is put into reverse gear while the phone is being mirrored.

Music will fade for Waze's turn by turn prompt. Bluetooth will take over once you receive a phone call.

I know there are 2 different radios for the 2019. Does it work on both? Some of the other units won’t work.
Actually there’s 3 different radios. All works unless you have the 360 Birds Eye view camera

Please contact your local dealer or check the owner's manual for that. We are not sure how to engage factory mirroring.

We have not tried, but if you can mirror the roof mounted DVD player with what is showing on the factory screen it would be possible
