In this video I quick explain how a towing bar, or trailer bar should be electrically connected.
But, in this case what I also show you is how to connect it in the "old" fashion.
The car in case is a Vauxhall Vectra C 2007.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND to install it this way, but is an alternative to the more expensive one, where you need the trailer module, coding/programming etc...

I have a Saab 9-3 which has exactly the same fuse box in the back. I just installed a tow hitch with the trailer module but the lights isn't working on the trailer.
I think I have learned something today so I will do some measurements. Thanks :)
If you have installed an original trailer module, that will need to be coded/programmed...

Can you list the order of each cable function in the plug, starting from the top down. I have the control module, but can not get hold of the plug so need to create one, and just need to know which wire is what. I know the ones on the right are 12v and negative. I need to know the ones down the left hand side.
Hi mate, iv got a vectra c and it seems i dont have the heated electric seat wiring as the seats i bought are fron an elite,
So am i able to get the wiring from an elite and swap it with the current wiring loom, like a simple swap in order to make it work without having to pin wires into the current one?
If so could u tell me if theres anything i should know before purchasing an elite wiring loom,
(Iv got opcom for any technical computer based stuff)

Could you advise on how to change interior wiring loom for the interior lights as they are not working on my vectra c estate?

@@LMAutoRepairs thanks for the quick repy. Yes. They wer not working when i got the car but its annoying so trying to fix them. Tried disconecting battery an leaving for 15mins to re set didnt work and all fuses are ok. After checking online it could be a loom from back of car to lights in back seat.

I presume you have obviously checked the bulbs...
You need to confirm that the wires are bad... by measuring them...
Also check that the door switches are working, and the switches on the actually light assembly...
It is weird that those wires would fail... are they all not working, or is just the rear ones?
@@LMAutoRepairs all of the interior lights are not working. The boot lights are working and lights above number plate but think they might be on a different circuit.also could a faulty bulb cause this. All bulbs appear fine with no breaks but would it be worth changing them all for new ines in case one is not working? Appreciate your help in this matter.

One buld should not put the whole circuit down...
See what is missing, power or ground...
does that plug that goes to the trailer socket need to be spliced in or is it direct ?

There is a relay already available to make this connection it’s called a towing bypass relay
It has a 12 V power supply to it from the fuse box then picks up the signals from brake indicator stop lamps et cetera and supplies a 12 V supply to the towing socket, the whole kit is around £25, it’s very easy to install and takes all the signals from one of the rear light clusters

That's roughly the same price as the actually trailer original OEM trailer module...(used).

Yes you are right but it is lot easier to just buy a bypass relay connected up to the rear lights it’s a lot easier I’ve done it quite a few times

Yes I understood that is a beam that you have manufactured, but there is a mark and a reference on the connector. Also it is necessary to realize a programming in order to have power on the pins that you use. Thank you

thanks for the great video i think it is very informative i do always learn something new from your video you made the job look easy but it is not it need a lot of searching and measuring good job man i am just wondering how can a i get the pin code of this car cause i have the same car in my garage should i read the engine ecu in a bdm mode or the chip under the steering wheel

I tell you what, for this car I as actually to do the installation using the trailer module, but in the mean time I got a phone call asking to do it without the module...
Any way, I was getting ready and already had the pin code retrieved... I will make a video of how to retrieve the code using carprog... If you do a lot Vauxhalls/Opel and not just, is an handy tool to have...
+lmsvvavr just to mention that you have to be very careful when continuity testing....that there is no power in the circuit. You could short out the ECU. another good video keep posting them.

The first check I have done was done with the battery disconnected...

The connector I have wired I something I have made myself... in that place should connect the actually trailer module...
