    What’re the recommended settings for engraving a pmag with a 30w standard laser

  • @raihanmohammed4776
    @raihanmohammed4776 2 роки тому +1

    On a 50w laser, what setting would be ideal for the "sanding pass" not to be discolored, I want original colour? I did some g19, g17, and use the laser as a sanding option but get that brownish effect.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому

      Fiber lasers aren't really designed for plastic. All of the settings I have for pmags burn the material in some way which is why we get the different colors, because we are controlling the burn. No luck yet on a pass that doesn't end with discoloration.

    Any reason you’re doing two hatches at opposing angles instead of clicking crosshatch? Just got the software and still learning.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому +1

      I don't really trust ezcad to do anything the way I want it to be done. If there's a manual option for making something happen I'll usually do it manually. Just like seeing the boxes I want checked checked and settings for each hatch filled out the way I want it done rather than just letting the computer do it. I dunno. More superstitious than anything that ezcad will just find a way to fuck it up. You're likely fine to just click crosshatch.

      not sure what lycal is, but silicone/rubbers are generally better with Co2 laser wavelength. Some types of rubber can be done with fiber using care, but will require patience and testing to not burn it up too much.

    Hi there ! I have a 20 w fiber laser machine. I want plastic engraving like the cell phone charger is black plastic in this case. Your video is very explanatory but my parameters must be different

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Liliana. I think in the Patreon library we have an experimental ABS setting that might get you closer but fiber lasers aren't really for marking plastic. UV lasers are much better suited for that (there's a great one linked in the description)
      Either check out the patreon settings or keep experimenting. Pro tip would be to increase your line distance big time on your hatch. Try .05 - .1
      Hope that helps!

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Рік тому

      I'd probably recommend a diode just because the CO2 laser dot size is so big it's going to make it hard to mark the items you listed with any precision. That said I haven't really tried marking pmags with a diode so not sure how that would go. Depending on your budget you could check out our recent review of the Basic 2R from 3PLASEES an entry level fiber. It's gonna take a little more work to get nice marks on plastic due to its limited frequency range but would be a great great machine for quick AR lowers and stuff like that.

      Different plastics mark differently, some work - some don't. Fiber lasers aren't designed for plastic they are designed for metal. That said, usually it's best if you're going to try anyway to start with very high speed, low-medium power, high frequency with lots of repetition. Best way to get started.

      It sounds like you want both honestly. Stone, some plastics, and tumblers are all going to do much better with CO2. pmags and metal are going to turn out significantly better with the fiber.
