I picked up the all black version in January and I've been loving it. It's my first G-Shock and I think they finally have a model that just the right size for me. Super comfortable - never have to worry about it. Fun watch.
You can buy the all black one, get mod parts for whatever colour hour indicie/hands you want, then you have a all black outer part (with the gshockl and protection text) with the bonus of being able to chose to wear it all black or with the white indicies and hands.
Watch Collecting Strategy if they made this watch with solar capabilities, would the watch have to be much thicker? It’s kind of the reason I have stayed clear of G-shocks. Too big and chunky for me.
I agree that the “G-Shock” and “Protection” are unnecessary words on the case face. What I would like to see is a second hand added, tritium lume and I don’t know if it would work on an octagonal model like this - a uni-directional bezel. That would make this a perfect watch. First thing I did was I removed the plastic wrist strap and added a black nylon strap. It looks good and wears perfectly! Thank you for the video.

Good review! I need a decent, affordable, dive watch and this has 20 bar resistance so its fine for what I need. It'll do as a travel watch as well as it looks more dressy than most combat looking G-Shocks. Whats to lume like on it??

I am wondering if the carbon/resin case will get scratched/gouged in daily normal use over time. I tried the G-steel ones and prefer the non-steel look.
This is a beautiful g-shock with all the right features and fit for an everyday, low profile watch. I wish they had put a tough solar module in it so that batteries wouldn't be an issue. If they introduce solar, I'll buy one immediately. If I do pick up one of these, I won't wait for casio to put out a steel version for $300+. I'll do a conversion to steel with an Aliex kit. Very nice watch though.

However I agree that the writing over and under the dial clutters the face of the watch a bit, which leads me to the question: Do you think the paint in the letters can be removed so that the face of the watch can be as clean as the all black - just with the better legibility of this version?

I just came across this watch today online and had to have it. I just ordered it! I had the same urge to own this as I had prior to purchasing my 2016 Rolex Air King and 2020 Rolex oyster Perpetual. I went for the all black version. I can't wait till it arrives! 😁
I got the green and black one. I love it. The instructions were a bit crap and not the most logical to work out. Eventually set the time and an alarm... And a second city so I know what time it is where some in my team live. Aside from that, it fits great... The perfect size. Most other gshocks are ugly... But this one rocks
Black or red black or red. I have a couple of standard black ones and the original square style iconic solar one and the sick bluetooth stainless steel in silver which is utterly gorgeous. But this one is nice. Its only going to be a rare wear so might go for the red. But this looks clean damn. These are essentially beaters all of them but still cant make my mind up. This looks good feel I’d get more wear from it in this colourway.

Nice. Perhaps you are forgetting the color of the bezel being an innovation in its own right. Waiting for steel is waiting for the classic look, which is really not the point with this g-shock series.
I love your macro shots man! Recently got my first G-Shock: the G884 G-Shock (DW-5600MW-7DR) i.e. the white DW5600 for just $52-53 and it looks gorgeous! How do you compare it with DA-2100 series, leaving the pricing thing aside obviously haha... The DA-2100 costs almost $100 in here. Just asking your opinion as I still have the one month return policy... 😛

I wish the digital display was positive. I know they had the The holiday version with the green and red markings, and that had a gold tone digital display, but I ❤️ the look of this watch. In your honest opinion, how difficult is the digital display to see when the light is not pushed on? I use the stopwatch feature a lot and I would like to know how difficult it is to see.
Reviewers always make claims that the watch wears smaller. This one does, but seriously, it does not wear like a 41mm. Frankly, it is also too big for your wrist.

It is engraved so it will be difficult to take off the paint.

Had the same idea of a white strap! I really like the watch also at night its very good to see lights are perfect in my opinion.
