G-Shock GA-2100 Watches : Are They Worth It?
Вставка

- I see the direction that individuals take by profiteering on certain watches because of high demand and low supply. Some sellers are making 4 to 5 times premium over recommended retail prices..is it good for the industry?
I share my thoughts...
#casio #watch-buying #watch #gshock
I've got the black with white markers. Lume is weak, but you can see with the light. Pretty good value and does fit a smaller wrist unlike many of the G shocks. Solar power would elevate it....
I agree, solar would complete these
They're releasing one now
Exactly! He knows he can press the light. He's looking for things to say. Everyone knows the dark or stealth layout is the feature people choose to have!
Great review 👍. I love g shock because if the durability. My mom would by them for me as kid. I would wear them for about 7 months all banged up and scratched, my mom would not buy a new one until it stopped working. They were so durable I would smash them with a rock to get my mom to finally buy me a new one. They were a lot cheaper back in the day.
I'm sure they will make some more and I can wait for it to be available at retail price or even lower. I experienced something similar when I was living in China. People went crazy for this particular brand of cheesecake, waiting in long lines and only allowed to buy 1 per customer. Lots of other cheesecake shops opened (but hardly anyone went to these). 6 months later nobody wanted cheesecake any more, and a couple of months later the shop closed down. These fashion frenzies pass.
Very well said, not may people think the way you do. Thanks for sharing!
9 months later and I picked mine up for $90US. Great advice.
Brilliant 👍👍👍
Where did you pick it up? Can’t find it anywhere
@@futbolx19 Authorized dealer in Macau.
For a hundred dollars they are a great buy in my opinion. Better choice I feel than purchasing a chunky Invincta.. Can say I own a couple (Star Wars Storm Trooper was fun) I really appreciate the video helping people to purchase a watch. Buy because you can enjoy wearing the watch and don’t want to sell grey market value. I own several brands of watches that can turn a large profit. If you are just getting into this fun collecting, you will not have the purchasing power through an AD.
Got one after the rush .Brand new and cost price. It's worth that but not the hype and strap adaptors are available. I love it. Oh, and you can get a lumed ring of the 5 min markers and slot it in in 5 min
Got it for $73 from the casio official website during their sale recently . LOVED IT !!!
Lucky man 👍
Nice deal. Btw can I have the link?
@@chinahongkong3685 Bought it via casio indian website. Now it is out of stock
So true ... But I waited almost a year ... And got mine finally at retail price of 99 us dollars
Good thing you got it at the price Casio thought it was worth (which is a pretty good deal imo).👍
They were never worth the frankly ridiculous prices they used to go for on the used market.
@@henryviiifake8244 your absolutely right ... Some people posted for 150 plus dollars
I almost bought this and the prices were so high. Ended up buying a protrek prw50fc for only 100$ over the current asking price of this toyish watch. So glad I did because the extra 100 got me 3 sensors, solar, saphire glass and a composite resin bracelet.
Now there's a very wise decision, well done Ziad, great choice. cheers Peter
@z z why would it fail and has it ever failed on you? Never heard this happening before on any pro treks or casios
Patience saves pockets. Bought my grey 2100 for $96 after shipping and taxes. That it is worth.
one of the better reviews on this watch. most reviews don't comment on the lume
thanks
Glad you liked it!
Cheers
Hello...
I love your video, I paid $150 for my red watch. You are absolutely right about telling the time?? Regardless I love the way how it looks :)
I’ve received mine today. Really nice.
J.N enjoy it and have fun cheers Peter
Nice review. I agree and wouldn't pay jacked up prices for this or anything else
This GA 2100 was my birthday gift and I love it😻
Enjoy
@@PeterKotsa Thanks for great review!
I bought 2 of the all black version, 1 too wear and 1 for the unworn collection.
Considering there’s no multiband or solar and only basic functions they’re not worth retail let alone e-bay premium prices.
Bought mine for 130$ few days ago. I am sorry that I didn't bought it year ago when it came out for 99$. Love the watch. I am a long time watch lover, had a lot of Casio's, but this is my first G-Shock.
You still got it cheap, some people were paying 3 or 4 times that amount last year
Enjoy it 👍
I got the green one for retail. Vey nice watch but not worth paying over retail. The contrast markers make it very easy to read. Only thing i do not like is it only has a count down timer stop without auto restart.
I like that green one and the yellow too...enjoy it.
Great video, very interesting. You can identify the GA-2100's manufacturing date through the serial number (9605T6) engraved on the back cover.
good review. whats your favourite gshock and why?
To be honest I’ve only ever owned one Gshock and about 6 months ago I gave it away
Not because I didn’t like it, I found myself not using it in rotation
I’ll have to revisit Gshock again and see what I like for myself 👍
Hi. I agree with you. $500 gets me a in-good-condition standard telecaster or a Nintendo switch for my kid, etc. By the way. I use the 5 alarms. My memory is not very good anymore, so the alarms remind me to take my daily pills at different hours.
They’re not that expensive anymore
You definitely don’t need to spend $500 to get a good telecaster these days.
Just copped the new Ga-2110et-8aer grey model. Really can’t wait for a solar version so I can fill it with fluorinert
Why?
Waiting for the next run, myself needs solar, lumed Indicies
That would be nice indeed
That's one mod I kind of want to have done to mine. I'd like to keep the indices red, but have them with lume, if that's possible to do. I'm sure someone that's done a lot of the custom Casioaks could do it... it'll come down to how much they want me to pay for them to do it. I'm not gonna go crazy cause I like the entirely red look of it, but would like lume.
those are the two main things I’ve been dying to see. Would sadly be sold out instantaneously and sold on eBay for 1000 usd lol.
You can easily add lume as the indices are all one plastic ring which sits on the dial so you just unscrew the back take the module out and swap out the rings.
Yep. It's going to take a lot more than this to convince me over my AWGM100
Lack of lume on the indexes sucks. But that created an opportunity for someone to sell lumed indexes. Maybe easy modding on this watch is a driver for fan base.
Story time:
I was a speculative buyer of this Casio series. Purchased 5 different models hoping to flip on eBay. I went as far as “upgrading” the bezels (and in some cases the straps too) to metal in different colours. My eBay listings did attract loads of views (500 within the first 2 hours for one in particular) and watchers, but ultimately no one bit at the price I was offering.
I pulled them after a week with none sold and gifted them to extended family members.
I guess the moral of this story is to just buy watches and enjoy (without having ulterior clandestine dime milking motives)!
P.S
I liked this video!
I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for sharing that story btw
cheers
I got the red ga-2100, love it. Gets eyes for sure.
They ask me what it is. I say it's a Casio. They say "Oh." xD
They are worth what casio is asking maybe. The design is simple yet its fresh. What bugs me is that its hard to read the digital time, ots too small and worse because of the negative lume hence why i think its worth less like $100aud and no more.
It's a very smart review
I like your videos
I'm following
Thank you
Thanks and welcome
Just bought one for AU$180. Incredible little watch👍.
Good value 👍
I got the red one last month from a retailer for the base price. Pretty sick watch
Well done, enjoy it, it is a rugged tool for sure. Cheers Peter
I got it yesterday for 75
@@FernandoGarcia-lm2yw from where? Can you share link
I’ve read up on G shocks and it seems the second hand, backlighting, Luminous hands, stuff you need a watch for is hard to find details on these watches. They look great but I think I might just fix my luminous or swatch if I can’t get under 100.
Luminosity on the markers especially for the stealth model would be awesome & I would have bought the stealth model instead.
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Jensen Bodhi Instablaster ;)
They're nice, perhaps great for the price especially with its unique weight saving technology, but if you're paying more than MSRP, you're absolutely delusional. They should've added lume to the hour markers, for sure, though.
At least at the 12 o’clock position.
I added my own using Glow in the Dark paint and applying it on the indices and hands, very lightly so nothing would interfere with each other, like the 2 hands passing each other.
Definitely going to be my first g shock in my collection
Good choice! Make sure you get it at the right price (don't overpay) cheers
Do you have any recomendations on where to get it for the best price? Great channel btw.
@@thhizon Where are you based?..local or abroad?
@@PeterKotsa Bermuda
@@PeterKotsa took uour recomendation and waited till the right price. Got the red and grey version. Got them both for retail at a local shop here.
Good video. I agree with what you've said. I prefer analog watches over digital ones. Analog watches are just so easy to get a perception of time and do it quick.
Can you suggest any reasonably priced analog or better yet, analog-digital watches that also have lume on hands as well as indices? I'd sway towards analog-digital watches cos of the features like alarm, timer, etc but I have not yet seen one in existence that has a legible face (black hands on white dial with not much else going on the face, is the best), and has lume on it.
Good question..with those features, I'd like to get one too..
Im not sure a digital/analog watch with nice lume and alarm timer etc exists...none that ive seen anyway
cheers
@@PeterKotsa Yes. What a pity. Cheers!
@@PeterKotsa Just an update Peter. Thought I should let you know since you suggested in your comment that you like legible analog watches too.
I stumbled upon an analog-digital watch with simple style and good legibility - AQ-S800W-1BJH. However, it's a pity that it's available only in Japan :(
@@albussd thanks for sharing 👍
I suggest that they put the black wordings on the red one, it will be more attractive this way.
Fast Forward. You can get them for under 100 bucks. Supply caught up and passed demand.
👍🏻
Some fools are paying twice the price (or more) of both watches; the all black and the black with white indices, apparently because of fashion or something! I'm for cost effectiveness, so I went with the beautiful matte yellow GA-2110SU-9A and the funny looking purple and blue GA-2100THS-1A, that one comes with two bands; blue and black. Both watches for $120 each! Obsessing on the black ones is dumb and costly.
I hear you and agree. that yellow one is totally RAD...well done I might grab one of those myself cheers Peter
I have paid 100 euros. Is it good price?
Very nice Video! You think that I could pull this off with a 6.5 Inch wrist?
Hi Len, it is a pretty decent sized watch. I think it comes down to how wide your wrist is, the top part of your wrist if it can cater for the 48.5mm lug to lug distance. Check out this video (if you haven't already) for some more guidance: ua-cam.com/video/Hw9XiMtHa7Y/v-deo.html
cheers
I try since last year to get the all black version but its not available...just on ebay 200-300€ I mean wtf?! They are crazy! Do you think casio will bring this model back for the standard price?
Not sure, maybe maybe not. The prices you are seeing online are not form Casio but from people who snapped up the watch in bulk and are unsealing them at highly inflated price
I love that knife. May I ask where you got it?
the knife is a CRKT swindle, I purchased it about a year ago online somewhere...approx $100-$120 AUD
Purchased! Thank you sir!
Is the full black model smaller in size than the black with white dials? Full black looks smaller.
Same
No, it's not. It's the same size. The fact that it's full black gives that impression. Ive got one and it's a really nice watch. Less sporty than the one with the white markers, a bit more elegant and refine...in my opinion
I got my red one recently, brand new, for retail cost from a certified watch dealer for normal retail price. It's a fantastic watch and I honestly haven't taken it off since it got here, but it's crazy to think that a few months ago the demand was so high on these that people would pay 300-400 dollars for one! Then again, as with your toilet paper example, people are indeed crazy!
Great to hear you grabbed it at retail , excellent.
Enjoy it and wear it in good health!!!
@@PeterKotsa Thanks! I intend to keep it in my regular rotation! :) I have so many these days I can nearly wear a different one every day for a month, but I haven't taken this one off this week!
@@stoneseabolt I think we all have the same problem, we can wear different watch everyday and still not wear the same one twice..lol
Enjoy this super practical G shock,,cheers mate
Got mine at retail too (all black). People should just wait and not incentivize flippers.
I have 2 ga-2100 and a ga-2110. The red and black versions definitely not worth it, the 2110 editions are so nice tho, even though they are the same they actually look nice tho and are legible
Why don't u think they're worth it? They all have the same functions
Question: Does the carbon core guard make G shock more resistant?
I assume yes it does
Thinner watch
great review
must have been 10 re-sellers that watched the video.
hahaha, very nicely said. You can't blame them, I did ask them to press the 'dislike' button..thanks for making me laugh today, appreciated :)
For the lugs, you can actually get a lug adaptor making it 22mm.
Great stuff I didn't know that, thanks for sharing
Cheers

most practical review ! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
@@PeterKotsa absolutely!
Very true man. Lume on the indices would be better.
I own the BW one, just a very good watch and good looks too. But no need to pay overprice. In my area (Norway) you can get the BW one just about anywere, the stealth one seems to be sold out. But for like multi porpouse, work, sports the BWs white markers gives the time at any condition. Whats fun, it has a certain formality over it too given its simplicity, yet a strong precense when seen outside the shirt cuff: So it could be worn on a meeting, this thing goes nice under the busness shirt too if it has to. The other day I recieved a new wet suit for some of my daily work, and I thought; damn it I need a diver to go with that thing. (For this kind of work I care not about the looks, but you know...ya) But no, the oak did the trick in that department too. So my verdict over this watch is; you just put it on and you are good to go. And then put on something colourfull with Nato in the weekend. :D Great video.
Nicely said, thank you for the feedback, appreciated, cheers :)
ordered mine yesterday, 22 jan 2021, 95$.
and im on 3 now may 2021. so yeah, happy with them
Do you get used to reading the analogue time on these?
all except the stealth..
I actually read it without problem. I have no particularly great sight, but i read my stealth black okay. I agree it's not the best watch in terms of reading, but it compenses with a great look. ;)
Nice Thanks
most informative review 👌🏻
My pleasure 😊
It’s a nice Watch but I’ll wait for the Solar version
I'm the same. Id be happy to pay extra for solar and smart watch hookup for step counters etc but keep the slimmer design. The master series is complete overkill unless you work on a building site or the army. The strap could do with some improvement too but not a deal breaker.
YES
Hello man, what is the reference of that seiko watch? :o
Seiko SPB089
@@PeterKotsa Thank you very much I appretiate.
Good videos.
A lot of concern about lume, it has a light
Is a good choice for smaller wrists?
How small is your wrist?
Peter Kotsa 6 inches
@@juanfor3182 You won't have an issue with its weight, but like all G shocks they are a tad bulky in the head itself. This one should be fine (but it will still look a tad big on your 6 inch wrist(
Should be comfortable though...
you think they gonna jump up with prices?
Not sure. Only the consumer demand can dictate that
@@PeterKotsa what are your predictions?
@@donisiciliano personally I think no :)
I got the red one for € 39.95 Where? BLUE TOMATO on sale..
Just be patient don't join in the party. These watches are not limited editions. Those Casio hoarders will learn their lesson once their watch can't sell and they will bring down the price to retail or lower because they need their money back. I just bought it for USD100 last few days.
I bought the OAK Steel casing and bracelet too and now it looks super awesome.
well said :)
I payed 20 bucks over msrp for this watch only watch I have payed a premium for. I had no idea but for 135 bucks its a fun watch. Never pay over MSRP on anything.
I agree, if we can avoid paying over msrp, then we should for sure..
I also paid $20 over MSRP but it was for a Japan Set, which is differently packaged from the normal version, instead of a metal tin, mine arrived in a wooden box, making it feel more premium. I bought the Fully stealth GA2100.
Great vid, but I have to disagree on the legibility, or lack thereof. I've been wearing my GA2110 (I have the yellow version) for a month now and it's been great in pretty much any lighting conditions. The lume is still visible in my dark bedroom when I wake up after 7 hours of sleep. And this is coming from someone who usually wears a tritium watch. I agree they should have put some lume on the hour markers as well but somehow I'm still able to tell the time when I can only see the hands on this one, not sure how that works. Accuracy on mine is great too, it has barely lost a second in one month. Now if only it had solar it would probably be the perfect G for me.
nicely said. I think that the lighter the dial the legibility increases. My experience with the black ones have not been very favourable legibility wise.
Let me give you and example, I have a Seiko Samurai in bright Ornage and it is by far the most legible and clearest dial to read the time under any lighting condition..even under water.
I think the Yellow G achieves a very similar effect. I was looking at grabbing a yellow one for myself and you have probably persuaded me..LOL
cheers Peter
Actually, no. You really can't do any better than white hands on a black dial when it comes to legibility, it's all about contrast. Not saying you shouldn't get one, but I highly doubt the yellow one will do any better for you. Especially when factoring in the light colored indices of the black and white version. I'm not trying to be a dick here, but all I can think of is that there must be something wrong with your eyesight..
Simple answer is clearly not worth over list. But worth whatever people are prepared to pay (don’t pay over list please).
well said !
the full black really expensive ...i just pick b&w version the features also same .....be smart buyer
well done
I have the full black version ım selling it on base price if you interested
I have the all black version but I can’t Caen to change the time, I’m finding it really difficult, maybe it’s just me!
Red is dope but the time is so tiny and hardly to read..
Better go for grey color and change the strap to blue or black.. I dislike the -ve display..
love the red one so much haven’t taken it off since it arrived even in the shower :))
haha, I thinking of getting the red one too !
I still don't understand the hype. Damn! This model truely broke the world wide web in terms of watch topic. But personally, I still don't get it and just dont have a place to my preference. In fact, every g shock model that has that similar circular mode indicator just dont appeal to me, those are useless. Instead of placing that huge space eating indicator, why just dont separate the secondhand, the day/date and other usefull function than that useless pointer of modes there on the 9 O'clock position. And yes, It could be more appealing if it has a tough solar movement.
Obviously Casio invested a lot into influencers. I guess, that is the main point, why this watch is so hyped
It looks familiar because the bezel mimics an audemar piguet
The materials used to make the watch are way under the £99 mark; however, the functionality of the watch, build, durability, and design make this watch worth the price of £99. Is it worth £400 to £500 certainly not.
👍
Do you just keep your lights off all the time?
No, of course not LOL...but inside in dim lighting situations, that's where the legibility drops for me. cheers
when and if this goes atomic/solar, oh how i wish....
I want these with a metal bezel. Casio will sell them like crazy if they have one.
I think they have a full metal looking version (gold tone and silver tone)
Leather strap on a plastic case?
People wear leather straps with their Apple watch, what's the difference with this?
Just paid £90 for mine
got the stealth version, now i want the red one.
there's quite a few available, just finding one at the right price :)
Theres a company CXD immortal that make illuminated marker for this watch. Video on here some where. I want a g Shock. I work nights in a dark bar. I need something with a bit more lumintaion or brighter light
great stuff, never knew that, thanks for the info
makes me whonder why casio did not put it in first place, maybe GA 2100.2 coming?
If you can’t read the time in the dark because of the lume the use the backlight...
Thanks Jack, I know thats what its for, but the dark is not usually the problem, even in subdued light it's a struggle. When I wa a teenager I had a casio and I loved pressing the light switch to tell them time, it was a novelty for me. Battery never lasted long tough...LOL Now that I am in my 50's I like to simply look at a watch to tell its time..thats just me :)
I waited and got it for 80 bucks.
150 USD is the official retail price of GA-2100 in Ukraine. No more, no less. Why? Who knows.
Honestly, these watches are still at a high price. I waited a year to get this watch but at least I got it for a slightly more reasonable price of $149.
What fool overpays by more than 25 pct for a quartz watch that will be made continuously for at least several years in volumes of millions. Besides a Rolex owner?
I suppose its this 'mad rush' mentality to get something before it runs out...

Very true, nicely said !
Very nice 🤭

This didn't age well... they are on sale everywhere now. Great watch! Pay no more than $150 aud
Anytime you are buying a gshock you are overpaying. I love em but they use technology 25 years old. Its quartz, it's all practically very basic technology
You do realize that automatic watches from the highest horological brands to the the lowest use technology that is some 250 + years old. Quartz technology is what about 50 years old now? A G shock synced to the atomic clock, solar powered, provide altimeter readings, tidal readings , moon phases and a host of other bells and whistles, does not represent basic technology. Show me a $100K AP, Patek Phillipe, Vaceron Constantine or any other fill in the blank watch that can do those things.
