@@mygermancars7264 As I said 12 days ago but I see that somehow the message got deleted, spareto. Been using them for couple of years, very reliable, couple of month ago they help me get my hands on one of the very last cold start valve for the M103. Last time I checked they still can get the fan so might wanna look into it soon before it's too late. Use the contact email and ask Roman how soon they can ship it to you.
@@toldibldr Only place that could get one was my Mercedes dealer, they found one back east but cost was almost $400, so there weren't any in the USA, found a few in Germany eBay , but they would not ship to me in California, so I gave up , I replaced lot of parts in cooling system but I think the 1978 450SL thermostat that opens at 75c made a big difference, my son says its running cool in hot temps with A/C on.
@@mygermancars7264 not working correctly, would stop then start, pain to remove, but all sorted. Got a replacement £40 and now it comes on at lower temps, even better now 👍
I have a very similar BEHR Fan Clutch from a 2006 Mercedes 5CLY Turbo Diesel. It was running hot and I bought an new one which seems detective. Thinking of refilling but on mine the little circle clip holding the rubber seal was missing or not there. Thank You for sharing!
have you tried shortening the activating pin ? Try and find out the length of the pin on the tropical fan clutch ,the pin may be shorter to activate the fan earlier .
Never tried that, I just don't like the design , at idle it just doesn't cool the engine , ultimate fix would be a electric fan setup like all modern cars.
Thank you for your shear .I also have a 1989 ce (103 ) suffering the same issues running hot on stop-and-go traffic Head gasket was replaced similar to what you vent through. Live in S California Frwy's just a killer !.
I don't think these cars were made for hot climates, they came from Germany where its a lot cooler, one little part can cause overheating, when they were brand new they ran fine and cooling worked, but now 30 years later you have to work at it, testing parts or buying new, in CA I still think installing cooling fans behind radiator that pull air are the best option for cooling, all modern cars have it, you just have to figure out how to do it, it can be done, cost around $300 vrs up to 1K for new Benz parts, research UA-cam video's on installing cooling fans.
Running a little warm, at the 100 mark can be normal in extreme conditions, like, air conditioning on, stop and go traffic, outside temperatures really hot 95-100F. If temps go down while driving then system working, if it stays at 100 mark while driving, system needs maintance, if it runs cool during winter months then system working. Our W124 now runs cool with all the work I did. If I had it to do again I would have just put in electric fans like all new cars, that's really the best way to cool system.
It defiantly helped and was cheap and easy, my issue was more it would start overheating with A/C on in stop and go traffic, without A/C it ran pretty cool 85c-90c. so if your issue is non A/C it could be many other things.
Just received mine, thank you for the info, keep the video coming please.
Great where did you find one?

I'll try the MB 1978 (450SL) thermostat. Thank You Very Much
Did you needed any modifications from MB1978 450 SL fan clutch to the MB103 ?
