I like that there are a few flaws in the stripes here and there. It's not a show car - it's doing what a TA was meant to do, devour asphalt.

I want one of these so bad. Its the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen, inside and out. I have younginz right now, so I’m a Subaru mom (need the safety and MPG lol), but once they’re big enough I am finding and buying one of these. It’s a life goal and it must be met! ;)

I dont know how it looks like in USA.
But here in Germany those Cars already Rare and Expencive as Hell.
Last Year i want to buy a Car, and i have 2 Favorite Cars. Corvette C5, or this one. So i searched a long time, and after than i desitet to the C5. Its the better Car.
But if you want one of this TransAms, i would search now, and as fast as i can. Because i dont know how the Market look in 10 or 20 years.
My personal Opinion is, that the Car will never be so cheap as today. And maybe in 10 or 20 years there will be no more to sell ...
Its the same Deal with Corvette C1 and C2.
In the 90s you could easy buy one of this Cars.
Today they are to Expencive. Even the Crap ones.

Karl S. I’ve seen several for sale in my state of North Carolina. Depending on the condition its in, they range from about $20,000USD all the way up to about $80,000USD. It really varies a lot. The lower cost ones of course typically have higher mileage and I’ve been noticing a lot have rust issues. The much higher cost ones look almost brand new, have updated sound systems, low mileage.

I LOVE what you did with this car. I love how you kept everything else original but now you get amazing performance with the new engine. This is my dream car right here, 77/78 Trans Am with a new, more powerful motor, new exhaust, and thats it. No ridiculous, stupid paint, lowered suspension, or dumbass fancy rims. Just the classic Trans Am look, with that new awesome engine.

    • @500erider
      @500erider 5 років тому

@Chris Rife There was no such thing as a Pontiac big block, or small block, until the ill fated 301 engine came along, which was an actual "small block", and was a clean sheet design, with little to no interchangeable parts with the older Pontiac V8's. From the 326 all the way to the 455, they all used essentially the same blocks, with differences in stroke and bore to achieve whatever cubic inch displacement that the engineers needed for a given platform. You're completely right about the lack of power in those late 70's-early 80's 2nd gen Trans Am's, though. They looked fast, but they were DOGS that could barely get out of their own way.....

hey matt, My show and no go 73 T/A sd455 4sp ate your'e chevy made camaro's, vette's chevelle'sand so on. For your'e info Pontiac also made engine's with lots of horse power just like Ford, chrysler, and chevy. Butler Performance could built him a nice a Pontiac engine with all the horse power he could handle and than some.

If it was a 403, no loss. But on a pontiac 400, a set of 68 to 70 ram air II, III or Ram air IV heads bump the breathing way up with larger exhaust ports and also raise compression from 8 to 1 to 10 to 1 minimum. A new cam and a new intake (75 and later intakes were smaller runners) would up power from 200 to 350. Change the ring and pinion from 256 to 372 and now you have a runner.

What a badass car! I love the fact that it’s not a trailer queen, that car is a driver with minor imperfections that say, “I’m not perfect but I’m still a BMF!” Ok, now for my 2 cents:
    1. lose the gold dash bezel sticker and get it turned properly, makes a world of difference
    2. Put them white walls on

I used to own a 1969 GTO, I know the bore and stroke of a Pontiac 350 is similar to that of an LS1, and my thought is...if you want an LS-powered F-body, just buy a new Camaro and get all the other options and better handling thrown in. Pontiac engines had their own reputation for torque or RPM potential in a Super Duty.

I'd pick a 79-81 front over this one. Personal opinion. My favorite firebird will always been 67 and 68.

67 to 78 are the best. The 79 through 81 are disco Boogie machines.
I have a LS swaped 78. And it's great! The 403 Buick is a boat anchor.

Make it the 79/80 model with the longer nose and that's my dream car that I thought I would own one day but year after year that dream is slipping away as those prices go through the roof

Whats with you Americans and "Burn Outs" As a European living in the "Land of Hope and Glory" I just wish we
had had great looking cars like the Pontiac T/A back then. There are much less expensive ways of "Warming
up your tires" than shredding thousands of miles off them. Not thinking about all the wear on the engine and
transmission. The only "Sporty Car available to us "Limey's" back then was the Ford Capri, but it looked like
shit compared to your old "Muscle Cars" Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaro's, and T/A's. Chargers, Road Runners,
      etc, etc.

No PONTIAC deserves a chevy motor under the hood. All PONTIACS deserve a new and improved PONTIAC V8 under their hoods. Even the 1980-2002 Firebirds. Now that new RAM AIR V heads are available and short deck blocks to put them on. A competitive PONCHO motor can b built. Sure it will cost a little more but, PONTIACS have always been a step up from chevy and cost more. A real old school PONTIAC fan will chose to keep it all PONTIAC. Thank u for understanding! P.S. Everyone should buy chevies and put Briggs & Stratton motors in them!
