I like that there are a few flaws in the stripes here and there. It's not a show car - it's doing what a TA was meant to do, devour asphalt.
Black, fast and nasty. No apologies.
Nice to finally see somebody mount the shaker to the engine instead of the hood. Good job! Sweet ride 🇺🇸💪🏼💪🏼🇺🇸
That's the only way I would own one of those. Trans Am looks with real hp.
I hear you Troy! Appreciate you watching too, sir
I want one of these so bad. Its the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen, inside and out. I have younginz right now, so I’m a Subaru mom (need the safety and MPG lol), but once they’re big enough I am finding and buying one of these. It’s a life goal and it must be met! ;)
Stay at it! Definitely is a dream to drive. Next to a camaro of the same era....no comparison😝
I dont know how it looks like in USA.
But here in Germany those Cars already Rare and Expencive as Hell.
Last Year i want to buy a Car, and i have 2 Favorite Cars. Corvette C5, or this one. So i searched a long time, and after than i desitet to the C5. Its the better Car.
But if you want one of this TransAms, i would search now, and as fast as i can. Because i dont know how the Market look in 10 or 20 years.
My personal Opinion is, that the Car will never be so cheap as today. And maybe in 10 or 20 years there will be no more to sell ...
Its the same Deal with Corvette C1 and C2.
In the 90s you could easy buy one of this Cars.
Today they are to Expencive. Even the Crap ones.
Karl S. I’ve seen several for sale in my state of North Carolina. Depending on the condition its in, they range from about $20,000USD all the way up to about $80,000USD. It really varies a lot. The lower cost ones of course typically have higher mileage and I’ve been noticing a lot have rust issues. The much higher cost ones look almost brand new, have updated sound systems, low mileage.
I LOVE what you did with this car. I love how you kept everything else original but now you get amazing performance with the new engine. This is my dream car right here, 77/78 Trans Am with a new, more powerful motor, new exhaust, and thats it. No ridiculous, stupid paint, lowered suspension, or dumbass fancy rims. Just the classic Trans Am look, with that new awesome engine.
Simple and effective. Thanks for following Samspace81
What's nice about this is its a good example of when people cared about their cars.
💯 🇺🇸 💪
OMG! My money's no object dream car! Completely period correct inside and out but thoroughly modern under the hood!
Comment contradicts itself
Captain FALKEN O.K. I'll rephrase ; It LOOKS completely period correct inside and out while being Thoroughly Modern under the hood.
Shepperd November still says the same thing. Rephrase it like 5 more times lol
Period correct with all the uneven panel gaps? nice engine conversion, would be better with a stick. but the car is a bit of a turd looking around it............
dave parkinson Uneven panel gaps are typical of American cars from that time period. If General Motors wanted panel gaps that looked absolutely perfect they would have had the Japanese build the car.
Eastbound and down! Love it! Those T/A's were new when I was in high school.
The ones to own back then and now
The most beautiful Pontiac ever made !
Especially in white, do you agree?
@@garydunn3037 definitely
I've rather have a well build Pontiac engine with the aftermarket fuel injection system. Good job installing that motor!
That's what I've done, I built my 455 and put a Holley sniper fuel injection system on it, can't wait to drive it!
@@todd2902 How Much Increase in HP???
@@WisdomOverWicked777Rules not sure yet, have half of it painted now the body gets painted tomorrow, when I get it going I'll probably put it on a dyno
@@todd2902 Is it Bored & Stroked? Or Rebuilt back the way it was? Whats New about the Build?
@@WisdomOverWicked777Rules I wrote you a big reply about it but it didn't post!
This is literally my dream car
Thank you for watching
I guess it is just my age (I am really old), but I cannot imagine going to the effort to put an LS-3 in any car and then follow it up with an automatic transmission. It's a lovely car, to be sure.
Bruce Boschek The Bandit needs both hands, one for the wheel and one for Sally Fields
Ha! My girlfriend (now wife) always shifted for me.
I'm with you Bruce...I would prefer to whine that LS3 out with a 4 speed.
Agreed. If you're going to put an LS-3 in this car, then acknowledge that it is no longer a TransAm. It's just another wannabe.
Its all T/A with extra power to boot
Closing of the hood said it all: old school!
Good stuff Ray, thanks
Burt Reynolds Would be proud to hear this Beast
RIP Burt Reynolds
Happiness is a gold on black T\A and Jerry Reed....the smile on his face tells me so.
YES! Really appreciate your comments & viewership James.
I just got my first car, 1991 Chevy Cavalier. And I’m in love with it! But someday I want to own a trans am like this one. So cool. It’s clear you love your car!
Good little cars, I saw several at the Chevrolet Nationals in Carlisle, PA last weekend
Always loved the looks of these TA's never knew how weak they were in stock form. Still a beautiful car
Couldn't agree more!
Needs white letters out on the tires, she is beautiful though
Yes some old school BFGs would look good! Thanks for watching Samspace81
I know you’re no where under 50 years old😂

Great build! A beautiful eye for detail on your part. Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate you watching sir!
Awesome build that car deserves that engine for sure!👍
Yes it does!
Just beautiful, the newer 79 8 inch ws6 snowflakes really made this thing pop. They should've all had them from the factory.
For sure
1st off perfect song at the beginning (love Jerry Reed) and 2nd I think I just had myself....what a Dream Car..... BEAUTIFUL WORK
I wish it was Jerry Reed! The Master. Thanks and enjoy the channel. She was a good driver I got to work with at Grubbs Motorsports.
Don't listen to anyone that says putting the LS3 in the T/A was a bad idea. The 77 T/A was all show and no go y'all turned that T/A into a real muscle car.
@Chris Rife There was no such thing as a Pontiac big block, or small block, until the ill fated 301 engine came along, which was an actual "small block", and was a clean sheet design, with little to no interchangeable parts with the older Pontiac V8's. From the 326 all the way to the 455, they all used essentially the same blocks, with differences in stroke and bore to achieve whatever cubic inch displacement that the engineers needed for a given platform. You're completely right about the lack of power in those late 70's-early 80's 2nd gen Trans Am's, though. They looked fast, but they were DOGS that could barely get out of their own way.....
hey matt, My show and no go 73 T/A sd455 4sp ate your'e chevy made camaro's, vette's chevelle'sand so on. For your'e info Pontiac also made engine's with lots of horse power just like Ford, chrysler, and chevy. Butler Performance could built him a nice a Pontiac engine with all the horse power he could handle and than some.
If it was a 403, no loss. But on a pontiac 400, a set of 68 to 70 ram air II, III or Ram air IV heads bump the breathing way up with larger exhaust ports and also raise compression from 8 to 1 to 10 to 1 minimum. A new cam and a new intake (75 and later intakes were smaller runners) would up power from 200 to 350. Change the ring and pinion from 256 to 372 and now you have a runner.
I never remembered it being "no go". My first ride over 140mph was in one. Today's standard I guess a tad delusional with what they are producing from factory.
Exactly, a 77 Trans Am with the stock engine barely made 200 horsepower with all the damn emissions /smog regulations. Lackluster performance. But now this new motor adds performance to an already beautiful car. I love it
An American icon!! Pure heart and muscle!!!!
Thanks for the ride I had a 1977 brown trans am with6.0
My pleasure, appreciate your viewership & comments, Kurt
I love the car, great engine and sound you put in there. The car may not be an original Trans AM, but it's one hell of a BANDIT!
Great TA
the right song for the right car sweet
Thank you, and thank you for watching
Beautiful. I had a 77 formula with T-Top. I am now 58 and I could never drive in a car so low slung.
I hear you
Me gusta el carro; Pontiac Trans Am 1977 parecido al que manejó Burt Reynolds; un cordial saludo a sampspace81 y buenas tardes
I like the car; Pontiac Trans Am 1977 look alike the one that Burt Reynolds drove; a cordial greet to sampspace81 and good evening.
(For my english speaking fellas)
I love it. It's sweeter than sugar!
Great car and nicely done. Only gripe I got is to take off the part of the valve cover that says CORVETTE .
That looks ridiculous on this beautiful TA with a powerhouse LS3.
Yeah makes it look thrown together
That's one bad ride- love the car and what you've done- Sounds fantastic too- Good job on the video too
Rough around the edges, Awesome 👌
Yes! Thank you!
Nice, kept the exterior profile stock. Right wheel & tire combo. Right motor. 455 SD... Too expensive, tough to find, .....HONEY HUSH...!!!!
Nice job, I had a 78 trans am, beautiful but so slow. Very nice.
Thanks for watching, Hellrick
What a badass car! I love the fact that it’s not a trailer queen, that car is a driver with minor imperfections that say, “I’m not perfect but I’m still a BMF!” Ok, now for my 2 cents:
1. lose the gold dash bezel sticker and get it turned properly, makes a world of difference
2. Put them white walls on
I have a 79 Black and gold SE so I know how much work and effort someone already put in that car, well done
Great observations. Appreciate it and your viewership on my channel - SAM
Nice. Looks like it's about the same as mine; not a perfect, flawless car which means you don't have to be afraid to drive it, which is what Trans Ams were built for.
Very cool
The car of all cars
So true, thanks for watching & commenting Chris
I used to own a 1969 GTO, I know the bore and stroke of a Pontiac 350 is similar to that of an LS1, and my thought is...if you want an LS-powered F-body, just buy a new Camaro and get all the other options and better handling thrown in. Pontiac engines had their own reputation for torque or RPM potential in a Super Duty.
Love my 73 SD455 4sp had it since 79 just out of high school and never gonna let it go cause i'm passing it to my son.
Cool one to have
@@sergiojacquez2277 I used to work with a guy who lucked into one of the rare SD455 Formula cars...he tossed out all the emissions equipment not knowing any better. He hated to even think of how much money he tossed into the can.
Even 750 hp NASCAR engines are great making this Trans Am a real speed buster greater than 200 mph.
Shake & Bake! Thanks for subbing Samspace81
sweeet Car - that one of the few cars I'd probably trade my zr1 for
Mines almost ready for paint a ZR1 is one of the very few I'd trade for!
Gave it the engine it deserved, congrats!
Old School Cool
Corvette fast
I like it.
Appreciate you watching, Dennis.
Gorgeous Trans Am. I have a 1980 T/A and going to put either a Pontiac 400 in it or an LS2 with an 4L80E transmission. Either way, it'll still be a true Trans Am to me. I definitely prefer the Pontiac motor to allow the shaker to dance better.
A keeper
Beautiful
Omg yes
Shaker is also where it belongs
I salute you sir 😎
I salute you for watching
i love this car!!!
My dream car!
Heck yeah, glad you enjoyed it Abel. Thanks for following Samspace81
Needs a cammed out pontiac motor 455
YESSSSSS!!! the torque is just insane.. and the sound of a Pontiac V8 is untouchable
Fake shaker = Poser!
Poncho in a Pontiac works
Excellent work !! Very cool!
Nice and very clean, well done.
Beautiful car
It sure is!
Nice. What a fun car too.
I know that's right. Thanks for checking it out
Werent they rated from the factory with 250 hp at the flywheel! Now it cango and turn! Gotta be a fun ride!
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German In 77, the the standard 400 was 180 hp and the “TA” 400 or 6.6 was rated at 200. In 78 the TA was raised to 220.
OH it's my favorite. Need to put it next to my Bronco
Thanks Hector for watching
I like it.. that thing beast
Right? I thought so too! Thanks for watching Samspace81
Love the build. Definitely take off the Corvette lettering though. Maybe put T/A on it.
Yeah that was annoying
Very nice build
I'm glad you like it Appreciate you watching
That's picture perfect.!!!! 😎
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate you checking it out and following Samspace81
that's my dream spec but the only thing I would change is:
1. lower it a bit
2.put the 17 inch year one snow flake rims on
Love those retro snowflake wheels too! Thanks for following the Samspace81 channel

thats my dream car tnx for share
My pleasure. Appreciate you watching Samspace81
What a sweet ride Man! God bless, have fun and be safe 🙏💪👍🇺🇸
Thanks, you too!
looks good, I understand the automatic living in the city with bad traffic
Ha thanks
The Sound!
My favorite, thanks Jeff
I'd pick a 79-81 front over this one. Personal opinion. My favorite firebird will always been 67 and 68.
Love those and a 70 too. Thanks for watching Samspace81
67 to 78 are the best. The 79 through 81 are disco Boogie machines.
I have a LS swaped 78. And it's great! The 403 Buick is a boat anchor.
Make it the 79/80 model with the longer nose and that's my dream car that I thought I would own one day but year after year that dream is slipping away as those prices go through the roof
Man I know thats right! Was bad enough when they were 10 grand LOL Appreciate you watching, Jeremy G
Beautiful ride no doubt but damn found it to be a bit boring with no wot roll outs or a burn out 😕👎....still a bad ass ride brother!!!🇺🇸👊😎🇺🇸
BANANAHAMMER420 public roads trying to be cool about anything and thank you
Whats with you Americans and "Burn Outs" As a European living in the "Land of Hope and Glory" I just wish we
had had great looking cars like the Pontiac T/A back then. There are much less expensive ways of "Warming
up your tires" than shredding thousands of miles off them. Not thinking about all the wear on the engine and
transmission. The only "Sporty Car available to us "Limey's" back then was the Ford Capri, but it looked like
shit compared to your old "Muscle Cars" Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaro's, and T/A's. Chargers, Road Runners,
etc, etc.
I love it
Thanks for checking it out Robert, appreciate you watching and following Samspace81.
Beautiful!
Thank you! Appreciate your comments Doug & viewership
my favorite car id love to drive one i got a 04 pontiac grand prix
Nice, those are comfortable. Thanks for following Samspace81
I miss mine. I had one when I lived stateside
Appreciate you watching & commenting
Man that felt good. What this video with a subwoofer...
Thts what should have came in the firebird not a weak little 200 horsepower engine. I love firebirds any way.
Oh yeah if you think firebirds are weak than chech out the 77 Z28's horse power, Weaker all do to goverment regulations.
Very nice, top car
It sure is! Appreciate you watching & commenting, Henri
Does this bring back memories 🥲
I'm glad. Thanks Larry
God i love it
USA! Appreciate you watching the Samspace81 channel, that was a fun video to make.
YES!
Glad you enjoyed it Kyle, thanks for commenting & watching the Samspace81 classic car channel
The LS3 typically has a manual transmission. The L99 is always an automatic. Have the LS3 in my Camaro SS 1LE and love it.
You should put a Pontiac 455 in it lol.
Thanks for watching 👀
Gotta have a mustache kit in the glovebox
Especially if you can't grow one! HAHA thanks for watching Samspace81
I have one at Guatemala 1972 ITS a nice car Im manuel
Very cool, thanks for sharing
Hold my beer!!! Loved the video buddy!!!
Rock on! I appreciate you watching the Samspace81 channel too
Love it
Appreciate you checking it out
I love this supeeeer car for me
You need one
I had the same car when i was 26 a 400 4 speed , i bought it new for just under ten grand , but let me tell you the green 73 cuttlas 442 I sold to buy the t/a was faster
Good story Nelson. Appreciate you following Samspace81
"in the end.. they all get an LS swap" - Regular Cars
still badass though
Haha 😄
I'm a big fan of these car because my friend has one it was he dads but it was giving to him as gift for graduating this year and that car has over 600 horsepower (dont know what engine it is) but its fast as shit
Quite the graduation present! Thanks for watching Samspace81 Big Eddy Machete!
Nicely done 👍
Thanks for watching 👀
Love the thought of all the power, but it's like defying the good book putting a Chevy in a Pontiac, can't do it, a built 455 SD now that's a transplant
Or just a regular SD 455!
I like the gold piping on the seats. Not stock, but looks like it should have been.
You're right, thanks so much for the intelligent comment - SAM
I am going to install twin electric motors in my 1981 TA. and turn it into an electric TA.
Great job. Ever consider going the Hydro boost route? Faster stopping power.
I hope to one day own a 77 Trans Am with a LS swap.
Okay. We get it. "Eastbound and down " got it.
Load it up and truck it!
Wow !!!!
Appreciate you checking it out Keith
今見てもカッコいい!👏👏
Greetings from Caddo Mills, Texas. Thanks so much for checking out this Trans Am and watching Samspace81
Nice job
Thanks much
Beautiful ride. Looks like the detailer got a little heavy handed with the polisher and compound at 3:30 on that passenger door and fender :/
You are right!
Amazing ride..every trans am needs a LS3 or LS7 in it . Sounds amazing looks fantastic.
Butler Performance All Pontiac Horse Power.
No PONTIAC deserves a chevy motor under the hood. All PONTIACS deserve a new and improved PONTIAC V8 under their hoods. Even the 1980-2002 Firebirds. Now that new RAM AIR V heads are available and short deck blocks to put them on. A competitive PONCHO motor can b built. Sure it will cost a little more but, PONTIACS have always been a step up from chevy and cost more. A real old school PONTIAC fan will chose to keep it all PONTIAC. Thank u for understanding! P.S. Everyone should buy chevies and put Briggs & Stratton motors in them!

Nice Camaro.
It's now more Camaro than PMD now.
Ouch
